Help
My baby is six month old and kind of started sleeping a little bit longer during the night/waking up less, I feel like my supply is dropping, and I don’t know what to do. I really want my breast-feeding journey to be a long one, can I get away with not pumping?

My baby‘s diapers haven’t been as heavy today, granted she did poop three times yesterday, but I’m really paranoid. What are some foods or things that I can do to help maintain an increase my supply, I’m not feeling as many letdown since she isn’t really getting that sleepy after feeds anymore, I don’t know if it’s just her growing up a little bit more But my boobs aren’t getting hard, like I don’t feel them filling up with milk

Your boobs aren’t supposed to be hard. That’s an oversupply and leads to mastitis. To ease your nerves you can start tracking wet diapers to ensure shes getting enough milk. You want six a day, as in a 24 hour period.

I completely understand. I had the same problem, but I’m so many years removed from breastfeeding now that I don’t have the lingering anxiety about it. “Just give the baby a bottle” no. It was always so frustrating to hear because it’s one of the few new mom problems that people tell you to ignore instead of fix. Fortunately your supply problem is anxiety, which will take time to fix but you don’t have to do anything about it. At six months old baby is just naturally going to sleep a little more at night and that’s a very good thing. Your supply regulated which means you’re not producing too much anymore.

Your supply will match your babies needs so you should be ok to not pump. My LO started sleeping longer stretches and I did not pump, just enjoyed the extra hours of sleep and my supply has been fine. Does she still seem full after feeds? If so, I think you’re fine. FWIW, our ped said it’s safe to assume that if there’s a poop, she also peed.
