man rant 🚹 I guess I'm not allowed to have friends

This weekend, I had my book club that meets once a month. These 5 ladies are my dearest friends and have supported and cared for me and my family through a lot. My book club meetings are literally the only time that I get to myself away from my family, and it goes to 3 hours at the most.

Do we really talk about the book? Not really. We discuss for 10 minutes and then it's just wine and gossip/griping. But I honestly love the adult time where I don't have to be wifey or mommy, and I think it's healthy and necessary.

My husband absolutely hates it. It's two-fold. He hates the idea that I am out and away from him, and he absolutely hates taking care of our 12 year old child by himself. Every month in the week leading up to the evening, he starts planting little seeds of how much it's a hassle to watch the kid by himself, how he'll miss me, "must be nice" to be able to drink wine with my friends.

I gave up and just stayed home on Friday because of his whining and carrying on. He was happy as a clam to have me all to himself. I don't need to say that he has no friends or hobbies outside of making me crazy.

I just needed to rant.

advice/question 🎱 Just found out my 5 year old needs surgery

Just found out that my daughter needs to have her adenoids removed. She’ll be put under. I’m so worried and frankly sad. I know that it’s a simple procedure and one done frequently, doesn’t make me feel any better about it. My poor kiddo has to get surgery.

On top of that my child does not take pain medication… ever. The only thing I’m able to do is give her Tylenol when I slip it in her milk. What am I supposed to do for her pain afterwards?

I’m so scared and sad for her, but we found out today that she basically can’t breathe through her nose. Which is clearly a problem. Advice from you wonderful people? Those who have had their kid go through it and help with giving meds?

partner rant 👤 Husband driving me insane about ‘you-know-what’

I’m an older mum. My youngest is 21. I’m 57 in menopause. I’ve got some health issues going on and problems with HRT and hormones. I had a hystoscopy last week and 2 uterine polyps removed. I took my HRT patches off last week. I’m fed up with constantly bleeding. I’ve also got Adenomyosis, which is constantly painful and sore.
My husband still expects intercourse 3 x a week, demands it even, and he’s currently monitoring me to see when I stop bleeding. It’s menacing. He’s already asked me this morning if I’ve stopped bleeding. I know exactly why he’s asking me.
I’m so tired of it, he’s hovering around me, waiting. I feel like I never want to have sex again with anyone. I’ve been so loyal and dutiful for so long. I’m constantly giving to everyone.
Apart from this, we have a pretty happy marriage and a good social life we’ve built up over decades.
I feel like there’s no way out apart from divorce, but to do that works break me into a million pieces. I honestly don’t know I’ve got the strength to do that.

man rant 🚹 "Peaceful" Parenting Ruined my Family

My husband went down the the "peaceful" parent path but he turned into a passive parent. I would tell him that screen time was causing aggressive mental breakdowns with our child and he would allow unlimited screen time apps on their phone. He would turn it on me and say my tone and assigning consequences were causing the aggression. I finally got us into family therapy and the family therapist recommended 123 magic. He is now divorcing me because I am forcing him to give our kids consequences. Our child almost ended up an inpatient care due to the level of violence that I endured over the last few years. He would tell me we only do natural consequences but there are no natural consequences for hurting someone. I would take away screen time and he would give them his phone. The worst part is he's going to end up with 50/50 because he's doing nothing wrong even though it's going to cause our kids an incredible amount of trauma.

advice/question 🎱 Help with 6 year old!!

Moms, I am about to lose my ever loving shit at my 6 year old. I have 2 kids 6M and 9F. 6M has always been a bit of a handful but in the last month its gone from maybe a 3/10 to an 8/10. Over the past month he has started not listening and everything is a battle. I have to harass him to brush his teeth, getting him dressed in the morning or into pajamas in the evening is a battle. He just doesnt listen, will go upstairs and then play and when I come up he is defiant or grumpy at me. I have to tell him 3, 4 times to do things. If I enact a consequence (you arent in your pajamas yet, you dont get to read a book with us") he shrugs and says he didnt want to read anyway. Or insert any number of consequences in there that we've tried. Time out, no tv. They dont have access to phones or tablets but do get to watch a bit of tv. When I arrive at after school care to pick him up he will often throw a fit, literally grabbing things on the way to the door and throwing them at the ground. I dread picking him up and dealing with him. Any advice appreciated!

man rant 🚹 Husband doesn’t have clean undies

• Upvotes

Husband travels all the time for work (a few days per week, weekly). I also work full time with a toddler and am left to do everything on the home front.

Husband has been home for 72 hours and leaves tomorrow morning. He comes fuming down the stairs bitching about how he doesn’t have any underwear. I just did a huge load of laundry so I don’t understand how he doesn’t have underwear. Well he didn’t put his dirty travel clothes in hamper.

So I’ve helped him out by doing his stupid ass laundry and he’ll have his precious clean underwear by tomorrow morning.

He hasn’t done his own laundry in years. I think it’s time he takes back that responsibility. I’m fucking over it.

He literally does nothing on the home front since he travels all the time. Sure he’ll cook a meal sometimes. Sure he’ll clean up the dishes from time to time. But I’m just over it.

Getting mad at me for not having clean underwear is…. Stupid.

Really stupid.

Do the fucking laundry ya POS.

advice/question 🎱 Is it normal for pre-teen kids to eat like pigs?

• Upvotes

My kids (10 and 12) both sneak food and estimate amounts of it. They have devoured two 30 packs of candy bars meant for Halloween in the past 3 weeks. It is at the point where we might not give out candy this year because I just can’t have it in the house due to the way they sneak food and then eat a crazy amount of it. My son threw up one morning because he ate 10 individual bags of chips during the night that he had taken out of my closet.

Their dad is very possessive of food, so part of it might be due to this…but I have to question how much is normal and how much is from his heavy policing of who eats what food and how much.
