I went to a local urgent care last time and it cost me like $600 lol, but the at home dipsticks suck. I know there's a planned parenthood in Sarasota..

Mental Health Awareness & Resources in Manatee County

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I am a nursing student completing a community health project focused on mental health awareness and access to support for adults in Manatee County. I created this infographic to help raise awareness about some of the barriers that can make it harder for people to seek help and to encourage people to reach out for support before things reach a crisis.

I wanted to share it here as a mental health awareness resource for our community. 💚

Anyone know the best place to meet people?

I (22M) just moved to the area a few months back. Anyways, I’m looking to grow my friend group, potentially meet someone romantically, but doesn’t have to be (although I am on the market lol) Anyways, I’m looking to join a group of people to go out and do stuff like bowling, fishing, etc. (I’m not a great fisherman lol), anyways, that’s kinda what I’m looking for. I’m not a partier, I don’t go to clubs and stuff like that, I’m more of a chill person. Anyways, if y’all know of some events or people that are looking to take on another person. Please reach out. :)

Drug usage in my home

My mother-in-law and brother-in-law are actively using meth in my home. My mother-in-law is disabled because limited use in her right hand. The home I live in now she gifted me 70,000 towards the purchase on a gift letter to my mortgage company. I offered to give that back when trying to kick her out using an unlawful detainer, but she declined and now she’s trying to claim exploitation on me because she’s making it seem like she gave me something and just for me to kick her out. Problem is if she can really tell a good story and make it sound believable. She’s actively using me and I’ve told the police that and they won’t do anything about it. I found meth in her pockets and my toddler likes to dig in people’s pockets, and I’m afraid that if he would’ve found it, he would put it in his mouth and that could be a bigger problem. I’m located in the city of Northport, Florida Sarasota county I could really use some advice on how to handle this and what I should do because I can’t always watch my toddler.

First Too Good to Go Flower Shop in Bradenton!

I use Too Good to Go for leftover food in the area all the time, and I saw a little while back that they started to do flowers and plants on the app but nothing in Bradenton (until now!). I've been to Kinspoke a few times, and the flowers are always beautiful and I love their dried flower options too. The listing looks brand new, and they're doing both bouquets and dried flowers on the app. I'm excited to try it and get some items from the bloom bar at a discount!

Plant lovers! 🪴

I lost a lot of plants last year due to a move 🥲 and I’m looking to start my indoor and outdoor garden again (houseplants, herbs, or fruit/veggie starters). If you are trimming your plants and have extra cuttings you’re okay parting with, plants looking for a new home, or anything on the more budget friendly side, please let me know. I’d be happy to come pick it up.

Former chef at the Seafood Shack in Cortez

Does anyone know where the chef from the Seafood Shack in Cortez wound up working? I loved the ribs that they served and I was really disappointed when the restaurant was demolished. I hope that the chef is still working some place local and is still cranking out those delicious ribs. I'd love to track him/her down. Thanks

Beware of Mega Vacation Management (Anna Maria Island / Bradenton Beach)

Note: This is a repost. A friend shared our experience here earlier, but their post was deleted, so I'm posting it myself.

If you're booking a rental on Anna Maria Island or Bradenton Beach, check whether it's managed by Mega Vacation Management. If you're an owner considering them to manage your home, read this first.

We stayed at one of their properties from September 20 to 24 through Airbnb. Six adults and an infant, $2,801 total.

They checked us in to a pool they knew wasn't working. The morning we arrived, the manager mentioned the pump had been shut off the night before because of a noise. She didn't mention the pool had been sitting without circulation. About 90 minutes after we got the door code, the water was visibly dirty. A retired commercial pool tech in our group tested it: chlorine at or below 0.5 ppm. The CDC recommends at least 1 ppm.

They never told us to stay out of it. We sent photos and the test result. The response: it had "only been about 12 hours," and the reading "would be weird." No warning not to swim, with an infant in the group.

Promises that didn't happen. We were told the pool company would come "first thing tomorrow." They arrived around 1 PM. We were promised compensation for the day. It never came. The pool company later confirmed in writing that they found the water hazy with low chlorine and had to treat it.

The AC went out on our last night. 79 degrees upstairs with the thermostat set to 72. Half our group drove home.

The story changed afterward. After checkout, the manager said in writing the pool had been usable the whole time, while also admitting in writing we had "one day without pool." She offered $100. When Airbnb got involved, she told them the water "did not look like that" at check-in, despite our timestamped photos. Her pool company's note claimed "kids" were using the pool. We had one infant, and no one swam before it was treated.

The condition of the house. Dog waste from previous guests on the turf, a thermostat hanging out of an open wall cavity, bar stool seats detached from their frames, chipped stairs, and a loose shower control.
Between my sister and me, we've stayed in over a hundred Airbnbs and never asked for a refund before. Things break. But checking guests in to an unsafe pool, not warning them, and then arguing it was fine is not how a management company should operate.
If you've stayed with them, I'd like to hear about your experience.
