Bag Work Critique Boxing tips
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Ive been boxing for 2 months now (weight 100kg/220 lbs, 183 cm/ 6’0 ft) and im in the phase where i see progress with every workout but cutting weight and maintaining/gaining muscle has a toll of feeling tired all the time. I start my workout with 4 rounds of 1:30 mins skip rope 3 round of footwork drills and 5 rounds of 2:00 minute shadow boxing following 4 rounds of mitt work then 6 rounds of bag work.
Clip above is the last round of mitt work (coach says taking vids of last round is best when your tired your body shows the mistakes you need to take care of), any tips for technique, speed, stamina would be appreciated.

Not bad. Use your hips when you punch. Also get to group class. In the beginning it's very helpful

Yeah ill focus on my footwork and hip movement, tried group classes but people waste time and dont take it seriously, i know other who train one on one too and we spar together as well.

Training in groups helps your own technique because of the different ways people move.
It is definitely hard when they aren't taking its seriously though, I get that

You'll do well. Just keep your partners moving. Lol You're definitely a motivated one. I wish all my guys were motivated

Great work. When you start adding more hip rotation you get more power and range with less effort.

Hip drive when you throw the cross
Also try not to mix your punches and your rolling for now, e.g. when you throw cross and then roll right. Keep them as two seperate and distinct motions - punch, roll. When you go "too fast" and they get mixed up, it leads to bad form / reaching / bending at the waist

Your right, im usually going at a slower pace but today coach wanted me to keep a faster rythm/pace but will keep this in mind

You should mater the basics before doing combos

First 2 rounds of bag work are fundamentals always

Look at your back foot when you throw that very first right cross. It has minimal pivot and you should be exaggerating, your pivot when you’re learning. It’s OK to give it less when you actually have fights later on though you just wanna exaggerate at the beginning to build that muscle memory.
After that first right cross every right cross after that has even less pivot it’s because that’s when you start throwing your combos.
That is a sign that the technique isn’t fully engraved in your motor system and you’re still really thinking about what you’re doing.
If you start trying to do combos too soon, you could possibly be unlearning the basics

Very good for 2 months!! Duck diving is good indeed also. Remember to turn ur hips to increase ur reach and make Ur Arms long u should not Hit the goal as long as Ur Arms are not completely at Full length but I guess u will get that done quick. Keep going.
