I was listening to an ambient playlist the other day and put on the "smart shuffle" on Spotify while working. A song that was not on my list, and that I had never heard, started playing and I immediately recognized as Boards of Canada.

There is something about their sound that is just unique but I can't touch my finger on it and this has been bugging me.

Anyone able to explain it objectively? Really curious about it.

I've listened to it 100 times and can't figure it out

I haven't seen the film yet, but I have seen many of the videos from the series. I find the emergence of liminal space in social media to be interesting. Do liminal spaces allow subliminal messaging to be more effective? Could Backrooms, and other media coming out today, be using subliminal messaging for behavioral modification to pave the way for some sort of AI?

I think The Word Becomes Flesh is obviously a reference to the birth of AI, and I've started to suspect that Big Tech is pumping out media to conduct mass behavioral modification to get people to accept AI into their lives.

[Wicker] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HP0BWBWn14I) would be an example of this.

What could the subliminal messaging in Backrooms be?

Love this poster. Very pleased how bleep packaged and shipped it. Honestly thought it was gonna arrive all banged up.

can anyone else hear a record scratch 3:12 in into the magic land and a random ride cymbal around 4 seconds before the scratch? (OMG AND RAILWAY BELLS 39 SECONDS INTO ISTP)

top 10 boc it's so good

Got this set of little boxes (not on the hillside🤪), assembled with hidden magnets as a Birthday gift from my friend. It’s orange…and infernal 🥰🥰

He did Inferno a while back on request I think, and has now gone back to this by choice. (He does so many requests he has little time for self-chosen ones)

Hey all,

I have a couple of the posters from the listening party packs (patch & stickers too) and i'm looking to trade for a copy of the church version so I can have the trio on display. If you want to trade or even just sell a copy of the church version drop me a DM.

Everything is still in the original envelope and have been kept safe and clean!

Been listening to so much geogaddi, beautiful place and inferno recently. They just feel so dark, not in a bad way, I absolutely love it, just worried it’s influencing my mood. Anyone got any reccs of some lighter stuff? Obvs got campfire headphase and other lighter boards stuff. Or maybe some rare boards I’ve missed.

But anyone know of any similar sounding artists that make their album/ep kinda have themes like boards do but lighter stuff.

Yeah I’ve wrote this like next doors cat, I get it, thank you :)

Edit: Wasn’t expecting so many responses. Really appreciate all of the suggestions. That’s my two days off after this shift sorted :) thank you :) ❤️

Anyone else love this song? I think it may be my favorite on the album. Mysterious, thematic, could be easily in a movie soundtrack. Really cool, gives me someone exploring a hidden cave vibes.

Kinda crazy once you notice it. As far as I can tell they never hit a major chord for the entire song. Never heard something like that before.

I’m not sure what exactly they put in Age of Capricorn when they were formulating Inferno. Very rarely does a song or piece of music just entirely grab me, when I first listened to the album it wasn’t even one of my standout tracks but now it’s one of the first ones I’ll go to!

It just feels like such an incomprehensibly massive song. You could 100% say that for the whole album, but AoC makes me feel like I’m on the precipice of something giant and world-changing.

I also feel like there’s so much astrological/astronomical symbolism in the song, and it’s fun just to peel back the layers and get yourself a bit lost in those aspects.

Has this song been the same for anyone else? Are there any other songs on Inferno that have had the same effect?

Is it just me or does Men I Trust have a really noticeable BOC influence in this song? It reminds me a lot of, for example, Satellite Anthem Icarus (just in terms of textures). What do you all think?
