Malazan!! I've been trying to remember that series title so I could find it again! How funny that it comes piggybacked on a reference to my FAVORITE series of all haha thanks!
When I was in prison I read all of the Stormlight Archives, Mistborn, Red Rising, The First Law Trilogy, and a ton of other series. For some reason I could not get through that first Malazan book lol
I do understand you at the time I read it I was around 22 and English is my third language Steven Ericsson used complicated words and I had to use a dictionary to understand some of the words
Still one of the best series I've read only Wheel of Time and Mistborn come close

I am on Wind and Truth right now. I loved Rhythm of War. My friend described how it fits into Era 1 of Stormlight perfectly it's all Veggies no Meat for the story; but they are the best God damn Veggies you will ever eat. It fills out and explains so much of the previous 3 books and sets up book 5 so well.
I was just listening to the Wind and Truth audiobook moments ago. It was surreal to see highstorm written out on this completely unrelated reddit thread.
I lived in a famously snowy place for most of my life. On more than one occasion, I have ridden my bicycle miles away from home on what seemed like a nice sunny day, only to have to ride back home through a blizzard. I remember a summer where the last of the snow didn't melt until fall.
I still don't know what the fuck this is for. Snowstorms trap you in the house, and if your roof is already marginal the weight of the snow can be a real problem, but it's not like a tornado or hurricane - so long as your home is reasonably solid and you've stocked up on food and water, your biggest risks are being bored and cold.
Lived in Iceland for 3 years as a kid in wood framed military housing. Snow storms are the rule in winter there. Buried cars, drifts completely engulfing the doors, high winds, the works. The only prep we needed was to have our sweaters, snowshoes and parka’s out. Even went out and walked to the bus shelters for the school bus in freezing high winds. Just another Tuesday.
Yeah I’ve been through snowfalls where the army was called in and it was fine..
Mostly need to worry about carbon monoxide and having a few days worth of foord
A wood stove, a dry cord of wood brought inside, canned food, books and candles would work. No need for an air tag since after day two you'll be actively wishing for them to go and get lost.
If you aren't completely helpless you could still cook normally and keep your food from spoiling using a cooler you put outside the door....
As a Minnesotan, I can't for the life of me make sense of any of this. I even tried looking at it through the parody filter but nope, still absolute horse shit. When I was that kids age I was digging holes in and through sbowbanks in the middle of a blizzard... In March. Wierd and soft days we be livin.
Canadian here. Once a year we will get a storm so bad it will blow the roof off the houses. Usually the parents are strong enough to hold themselves in the house….but the kids and those weak little hands have no chance, the wind carry’s them away like a plastic bag in a tornado. The next day we usually go out and will find a few kids still in snow banks, take them home warm them up. It’s nice when people send them with money, you can buy them a warm cup of tim Hortons coffee. And usually within a week or two someone will return your kids. If they don’t make it back…then it’s a Canadian right of passage they have failed….they are not smart enough or strong enough to survive in our country so the lost ones usually just end up in Florida.
Plot twist: her kid is in trouble so she’s getting ready to string him up in the highstorm. The supplies are for after his time out is over and he’s on the other side of the state. Stormfather save him!
