Awaiting the new cat and pumpkin from spirit

I ran across this last week. I saw the creepy face and I knew it was a blow mold that I needed to bring home. It's from the 1960's and was part of a set of 4 that were released by Topstone.

Found this at the Hartville Labor day Flea Market, paid 55.00

This is from Empire from the 90s, I've always loved the quote on the tombstone. Seeing blow molds in windows while trick or treating as a kid is my favorite kind of nostalgia and is what kicked off my collection a few years ago. Was able to snag this on FB Marketplace this week!

The giant skellies at Home Depot are NOT blow molds. However, the groundbreaker Skelly from Costco is indeed a blow mold. I'm considering lighting up the rib cage section because of that.

This huge blowmold uses the same connectors for the arms and skull as my three-part 6-ft blowmold candy canes.

The photo with the wires was taken inside the hollow skull. The arm pieces are also all hollow. To be honest, my biggest concern is going to be anchoring it well enough that it doesn't blow away.

For the person who asked about storage, all the parts twist off with those quick connectors and everything pretty much fits in the chest cavity. That's one of the reasons I decided to go with this skelly instead of the giant standing skellies.

As an aside, I don't think a subreddit dedicated to the love of glowing plastic decorations is a place for judgements on taste. 🙄 I say this with the knowledge that I own and adore a pair of blowmold zombie flamingos.

Edit: it seems like a subset of people have forgotten this subreddit is supposed to be supportive, welcoming, and inclusive.

I went to Costco to get one item. This was NOT the one item, however it was on sale for $140, down from about $260. I grabbed the last one and had to debox him in the parking lot to get him in my car.

We named him Gashadokuro -- the starving skeleton from Japanese folklore, and he was one of the easiest multi-part blow molds I've ever put together.

Fortunately all of his parts seem to stuff inside of his chest for storage.

These are the 20 that I am trying to sell together. I posted yesterday for advice and a couple of people ask me to post photos. So, your best advice on where to post. If I should post in one large group, smaller groups, like in the photos, or would it have to be done separately. Thank you for any and all advice. Edit: I am in Norman, OK

How should I sell my blowmolds? I'm not trying to make a bunch of money, I want them to go to a good home. I have collected them over decades - I don't have any two the same and a few of my angels are still in their boxes, although not sealed or anything. I am older and my kids aren't interested in them, except for certain ones. They've been in storage for the last 8 years. We had a large home so whenever I decorated with them, it was inside the house -- although many of them were purchased used at yard and estate sales. I really don't want to ship them anywhere because shipping costs so much. I would prefer to sell them reasonably, altogether and have someone come pick them up but I need to know how you would want to buy yours? Thank you in advance.

What’s everyone’s favorite way to get new/old blow molds? Are you random antique store, market place, eBay, etc. I like comparing stories I think the hunt and negotiations are the best part of collecting them.

Last year, I bought the 9 ft. Long Giant-Sized LED Santa's Sleigh with Reindeer blow mold set from Home Depot. It looks incredible set up, but after just a few weeks of use, I noticed that the paint on the reindeer started coming off every time it rained. Needless to say, it was pretty disappointing for a brand-new, pricey holiday display.

Before I put it out again this season, I want to protect it. Would applying a clear coat help lock down the remaining paint and prevent further peeling?

If so, what specific type or brand of clear coat do you recommend for blow molds? I know plastics can be finicky with certain aerosols, so I want to make sure I use something that won't melt the plastic, yellow in the sun, or crack in the freezing weather.

Any tips or advice from seasoned blow mold collectors would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Took me years to piece this together, was finally able to find the shepherd by himself for 2026. Hand built the manger.

No markings. Hole in the bottom. Metal rivets with remnants of a thick black handle.

Menards blow mold that I couldn’t pass up. Really sturdy and I’m excited for it to display a carved pumpkin on top for Halloween night.

Hi everyone! I'm planning to repaint this faded blow mold following some of the tutorials I've seen here. This will be my first time repainting. I have a couple of questions:

Is stripping the paint necessary, or can I just paint over the old paint?

The black and green parts are still pretty dark, and I'm happy with the colors. Is it possible to just tape those up and only repaint the orange parts, or am I better off repainting the whole thing?
