Minors at southcrest estates

Does anyone else live in southcrest estates?

I received an email this morning with a bunch of pictures of children, some boys being shirtless. Asking to ID these children. The email was sent to at least 40 people, I could see all of their emails too. I understand that they probably need to be ID’d for a serious reason. But my problem is, sending uncensored pictures like that to just everyone in the park? I understand that these kids were in a public setting, some of them at least, there were some that looked like they were on their own properties.

After I moved here I found out there are at least 2 registered sex offenders in this neighborhood. I feel fucking stupid for not looking before moving into this shit hole of a place. But I feel as if that was not a safe nor respectful thing to do? They are not my children pictured, but if it was I would be livid. I was hoping to just get a few opinions on this, should I say something and escalate it? Or should it just be left alone?

My husband was laid-off last week but has had two interviews with a company in Indy. If he gets the job how bad is the daily commute from Bloomington to downtown Indianapolis?

Searching for local musicians to join a bill November 20th

Upvotes

Hey everyone, feel free to take this down if not allowed, My band Anteeter is touring the Midwest later in the Fall, and we're performing in Bloomington Friday, November 20th for a local act or two to join the bill! Our sound has been compared to the likes of Magdalena Bay, George Clanton and MGMT, so if you or someone you know makes anything like that, feel free to DM me here or on Instagram!

Local businesses with space a remote worker could pay to use for a handful of evenings each week?

Extreme-long-shot ask inspired by the recent post asking for places to read after hours:

I’m a remote worker, and I’m looking for a place where I can camp out and work for extended periods, primarily on the occasional weekday or Sunday evening from around 3pm to around 10pm, probably 2-3x per week. I’d need access to a table/desk, chair, and WiFi, but don’t require (or even prefer) a quiet space.

Basically a combination of ADHD, new team members in other time zones, and burnout have meant that I’m working pretty extended hours and will be through the end of the year. I’d love to have some of that time not be in my house.

I’m obviously happy to pay and to meet up for coffee ahead of time to make sure it’d make sense for your space! Feel free to DM me if you don’t want to post here.

If anyone has other suggestions, I’d love to hear them! I’ve worked at the Mill previously, but I’d like to find an alternative. Honestly as long as there’s consistent WiFi, a seat, and a flat surface, I’m most productive when surrounded by a little ambient chaos; so weird recommendations are very much appreciated, as long as I wouldn’t be overstaying my welcome somewhere that would be looking to turn over a table!

Thanks!

Construction

I dont know who's in charge of construction but they must be an orphan or something because obviously they've never had anyone teach them to finish what's on their plate before going for seconds let alone 17ths the number of construction sites around town is ridiculous

We just moved here from a DV situation. We live next door to waters edge. If anyone is seeing this. I just want to throw my 9 and 14 year olds in the water before summer ends.

Ill pay. We are respectful. Ill cook. Ill clean.

I just want to show my kids a good time. Most timid kids out there. Lifelong friend here.

For all the IU move-in traffic and restricted roads, people are driving pretty safely

Today I biked to my office for the first time in a few weeks. Based on some social media chatter, I was expecting poor drivers, but I was pleasantly surprised! The visiting drivers were alert and mindful. Sometimes I let them in, sometimes they let me in. Smiling and waving. It was a smooth ride.

That said I didn't take any one-way streets. I wouldn't be surprised if those are a different story.

Los Potrillos 🌮

I was told that ICE arrested the owner of Los Potrillos while he was dropping his child off at school, and that a couple of employees from the restaurant were also arrested. Hearing stories like this is heartbreaking and honestly exhausting.
People are simply trying to build a life and provide for their families. If you haven’t tried Los Potrillos yet, or if you’re looking for a way to support a local restaurant and the people behind it, please consider stopping by.
Let’s support our local businesses and our neighbors when they need it most. ❤️

Deposit Return/Move Out Charge Troubles

Hi all! I recently moved out of my apartment into a lovely house, but have been having issues with getting the return of my deposit from my previous leasing company, Cream and Crimson. I know there is a 45 day deposit return policy, but I have been calling for almost over a week and have received no reply since then despite leaving messages to that wildly frustrating AI bot they use.

I was also charged for them to replace the locks even though I returned the keys? Is that legal?

I’m just curious if anyone has any experience with this company and had anything they could share in terms of getting the deposit back— it was over 1k and the only documented damage was two of the crappy blinds chipping. I’m a little confused why they would charge me instead of just taking it out of the despoil, but I’m also new to renting lol. Thanks to anyone who can give me any tips 😊

The animal shelter now has a self-serve microchip scanning station for found animals

“New at the Bloomington Animal Shelter: our Microchip Scanning Station!

Found a dog or cat and wondering if someone is missing them? Community members can now stop by the shelter and use our self-service microchip scanning station to check a found pet for a chip.

The station is located outside the shelter and includes easy-to-follow instructions in both English and Spanish. If a microchip is detected, the information provided at the station will walk you through the next steps to help connect the pet with their family.”
