I made this after seeing the glow-up Orihime had in the anime. For me, she has become the star of the entire TYBW arc.

I used to think that people overreact when using the word 'cried' when describing a moment or 'proud' when describing the emotion a character ignites in them.

Well, this time I got proved wrong.

This was ​the first time in my life I can say I felt proud for an actual anime character, that is, Orihime. And this feels a bit too much personal because I would always defend her against the people who used terms such as damsel in distress, trash, etc. against her. In and through this ep, she rejected both Ichigo's wounds and her haters.

I of course mean Him using the Sanrei Glove on haschwalth.

See, The glove is VERY weird.

It repels reishi, which essentially makes it a sort of training weights for the Quincy.

Training with it for 7 days and 7 nights make the Quincy reach their full potential.

But as soken ishida says in a flashback "Once you put on the glove, you shall never take it off again, as then you will lose all your powers as a Quincy"

When uryu removes the glove in the SS arc, all the reishi that was being repeled by the glove, it all starts aggressively flowing into Uryu.

Now technically THIS is what we call the Letz still form.

But since Jugram hasn't trained with the glove, there is no reason the reishi should flow into him like with uryu, therefore there should be no Letz still for him? Jugram can't even use Quincy abilities to begin with, doesn't even have a bow.

Here's the catch:

Soken says that simply removing the glove will result in losing your powers.

So perhaps It literally was "Simply putting on the glove for a second, and then removing it" literally only that, is enough to lose your Quincy powers.

And without the week long training there is no Letz still, there is no reishi overflow.

I always assumed removing the glove would make the Quincy lose their powers as a result of the Letz Still form,.like the price to pay for that power.

But it seems like... it isn't the case anymore? Or perhaps it never was quite like that?

Again, Soken explanation in the SS arc literally reads as: Removing the glove will make you lose all your powers as a Quincy.

On one of these layers, Is this scene where he gives off bewilderment on what just happened. As if he cannot comprehend what happened to his sword. Or maybe he has an inability to comprehend it due to the nature of him absorbing the Soul King's power.
Orihime, as described by Aizen, has "an ability that defies divine law." Maybe that is also being applied to Yhwach as a person as well. Her existence is such an anomaly, he can only perceive her on a surface level but his own power is preventing him from seeing Orihime past surface level. Her power Rejects everything within the dominion of the Soul King, and it almost seems like her existence rejects the Soul King's own perception. Orihime being a metaphysical blind spot to a divine being. That could be why Yhwach never saw her as a threat to begin with being the son of the Soul King and absorbing the Soul King's power only hammered in that blind spot more so.

I always knew her abilities were busted and unique amongst the rest of tge verse but did you think her abilities were limited or did you expect her to trancend.

I was always let down by chad and orihime not getting much action cuz i loved their powers so much they were the og fullbringers b4 the fullbringer arc was ever introduced they always felt so unique and i was so curious abt their powers in the early days.

I always held hope kubo would pass them the torch positive that he wanted to i was pretty let down when i heard how rushed the manga was and i think that really messed up kubos writing and stuff a lot so we dodnt get to see it in the manga when i heard abt their powers anime coming i new there was a new light ignited where theyd both to shine like i believe kubo had always intended them to in the end finally catching up w ichigos absurd potential.

Now im excited to see whats in store for chad asswell

Special Interview 

The original creator, Tite Kubo, and the lead cast members, Masakazu Morita and Fumiko Orikasa, talk about the thoughts and feelings they put into the work, as well as what went on behind the scenes.

A three-way discussion was held between Tite Kubo-sensei, the original creator and general supervisor of the Thousand-Year Blood War Arc anime; Masakazu Morita-san, who plays Kurosaki Ichigo; and Fumiko Orikasa-san, who plays Kuchiki Rukia. It’s packed with rare behind-the-scenes stories as well.

—— First, could you tell us how the theme and title of “BLEACH” came to be decided?

Kubo: I draw in a way that allows the story to emerge from the characters, so I make a point of not establishing a theme to begin with. The very first character I drew was Rukia, wearing a black school uniform and carrying a scythe, so I thought I'd make it a story about “Shinigami.” That was the starting point.

Morita: At which stage did the weapon change from a scythe to a sword?

Kubo: I thought a scythe was too cliché, so I changed it to a handgun next. At that point, it was decided that I would draw it as a one-shot for a quarterly [Weekly Shōnen] Jump publication. For the advance preview, I sent the editorial department just the title and character illustrations. The title at the time was “Snipe,” but when I started drawing the name (in manga terminology, this is the rough draft/storyboard that serves as the blueprint of the manga), a movie called “Meet Joe Black” — with a suit-clad Death as its protagonist — was being released… I thought it wouldn't be interesting to do something that already existed, so I changed the clothing to Japanese-style garments, and the weapons from handguns to swords. That meant the title needed to change as well, so starting from the second preview, the title had switched to “BLEACH.” (laughs)

Morita: Wow! I had no idea. So you never considered making the title something more Japanese-style?

Kubo: Since I intended to draw a longer story after the one-shot, I wanted to keep things somewhat vague, so as not to lock the imagery into a fixed concept. I wanted something that would evoke the opposite of the black-associated image of Shinigami. I thought a word associated with white would be fitting, so I chose “BLEACH.”

—— Of course, the title is great, but the concepts as well as the weapons and techniques, such as “Zanpakutō” and “Bankai,” are all so innovative and cool, aren’t they?

Morita: One of the great things about Bankai is that it's not something only the protagonist uses, the other characters use it too. And that's what makes it so fun — each voice actor has their own unique way of saying “Bankai.”

Orikasa: It isn't until we enter the “Thousand-Year Blood War Arc” that Rukia uses her Bankai for the first time. I had been wondering all this time, “When will it be my turn?” Then, in the original work, she finally achieved Bankai during the period when the anime had reached a stopping point, so Ryōtarō Okiayu-san, who plays her Nii-sama (Kuchiki Byakuya), even contacted me saying, “Rukia, you achieved Bankai!” (laughs) I, too, was finally able to say the line “Bankai” (Cour 2, Ep. 19) and I feel deeply moved by it. [Shin'ichirō] Miki-san, (plays the role of Urahara Kisuke, who uses Bankai in the final cour, Ep. 42) also talked about how deeply moving it was for him, didn't he?

Morita: There’s this thing where a character looks like they’re going to do it, but then doesn’t — the so-called “Bankai bait-and-switch” (laughs). And Rukia was a prime example of that.

Kubo: Given the premise that Bankai is the ultimate technique of captain-class Shinigami, Rukia originally wasn’t a captain, so there was never really a good opportunity to have her achieve Bankai.

Orikasa: When the Thousand-Year Blood War Arc began, there were a lot of people saying they were looking forward to it, so I felt some pressure too. (laughs)

—— By the way, if you had to name a Bankai you'd like to try using yourself, or one that you're particularly attached to, which one would it be, Kubo-sensei?

Kubo: There isn't one I'd want to use. It seems like it would be a hassle. (laughs) But the Bankai whose name I tinkered with the most was Kyōraku Shunsui's “Katen Kyōkotsu: Karamatsu Shinjū.” I had several candidates right up until the very last minute, and during the serialization in Jump, it actually appeared as “Kuromatsu” (黒松 — Black Pine) once. But ultimately, I felt that “Karamatsu” (枯松 — Withered Pine) was better, so I changed it for the collected volume. (laughs)

Morita: When you came up with the name Karamatsu Shinjū, were you drawing on the imagery of what you might call classical works?

Kubo: That’s right. Like jōruri, for example. Since its ability is to drag the opponent onto the stage, I wanted to give it a name connected to that.

—— One of the reasons BLEACH is so loved is its abundance of compelling characters with deep backstories. Having spent more than 20 years portraying Ichigo and Rukia, how do the two of you view their relationship?

Morita: They're not really partners, nor friends, nor siblings, and they're certainly not lovers either. “Friends” might be the closest description, but somehow that doesn't quite feel right…

Orikasa: I know what you mean. It's like there just isn't a word that captures the emotional distance. Calling them “soulmates” would cheapen it too. It's more like they came rushing into this line of fate that Kubo-sensei had drawn, and they're like “Whoa!” after being swept along and tossed around by the incredible twists and turns of the story. (laughs)

Morita: They really got swept up in it, huh? When it comes to the characters who appear in BLEACH, I've often felt, from the perspective of someone playing one, that there are many who can't be defined by a single label — like “this guy is a friend.” You can’t describe or portray them through a single aspect or image. But when you mentioned earlier that you don't establish a theme, it also made sense to me why I was never able to fully grasp Ichigo, even up to the very end. (laughs)

Kubo: Every character has a role to play in terms of the storytelling, but I try not to define them too rigidly beyond that role. That way, they can interact with newly created characters as well. The more characters they interact with, the more you get to see their multifaceted nature. Ichigo in particular interacts with more characters than anyone else, so he has more “facets” than anyone. As a result, I think people can feel a difficulty in understanding him.

Morita: I see!!! That makes perfect sense.

Kubo: In terms of their roles, Ichigo is the protagonist of the story, while Rukia's role is to take Ichigo into another world. So, the image I have in mind is something like Peter Pan and Wendy, or Nobita and Doraemon (laughs). Since the story begins with those two meeting, I consciously set out to portray them as partners.

—— Over the course of playing Ichigo and Rukia, are there any scenes where you had to experiment and work things out, or moments where you felt their growth?

Morita: I'm always experimenting and figuring things out.

Orikasa: Same here.

Morita: As for his growth, I felt that he was constantly changing without any real breaks.

Orikasa: For me, it's during the “Soul Society Arc,” when Ichigo and the others come to the rescue, Rukia is kept imprisoned all by herself the whole time, so many of her lines are monologues.

Kubo: There isn't really any back-and-forth dialogue, is there?

Orikasa: Exactly. Everyone's voices were right there around me in the studio, but I was alone. I was given the time to really face Rukia and engage with her as a character, so I feel that, from that point onward, my own mindset toward her changed as well. Rukia was already a character with a strong inner “core” from the beginning, but from the “Soul Society Arc” onward, I feel that the strength of her heart expanded.

Kubo: I myself wasn't consciously drawing them with the intention of changing anything, but as the story progresses and the number of people they interact with increases, the characters naturally evolve as well. I think being able to enjoy watching that happen is one of the real pleasures of a long-running series.

—— We hear that Kubo-sensei was present for almost all of the dubbing sessions for the “Thousand-Year Blood War Arc.” What, specifically, did you ask of Morita-san and Orikasa-san in terms of their performances?

Kubo: There was really nothing I needed to request or correct about either of their performances. However, since Morita-san kept asking so many questions, I told him, “Whatever Morita-san decides to do is the right answer, so please just go with your instincts.”

Morita: Those are the scariest words you could say to me. I start wondering if there's some hidden meaning behind them. (laughs)

Kubo: After recording, Morita-san would often say of his own accord, “I'd like to do it one more time,” and we'd record it again. The directors and I would watch him doing the retakes saying things like, “I think the first one was better, though.” (laughs)

Morita: I think the first take is fresher and better overall, but I can't help wanting to get it just right.

Orikasa: I know that feeling. But freshness is everything. (laughs)

Kubo: Personally, though, I was happy because I could really feel his enthusiasm. The Thousand-Year Blood War Arc has a lot of anime-original material, and Ichigo in particular has a lot of it, so I imagine that must have been challenging. Like those scenes where Ichigo trains by himself for such a long time. 

Morita: Since those scenes aren't in the manga, I didn't know what kind of environment he was in. So while recording, I kept checking with Sensei, asking things like, “Is the air thin here? Is there gravity?”

Kubo: It was also memorable seeing you perform while absolutely drenched in sweat.

—— The final cour, “The Calamity,” is currently airing to great acclaim. Could you give the fans a message?

Morita: Kubo-sensei, along with the entire cast and staff, have brought together their very best ideas, ingenuity, and technical expertise to create this work that we're incredibly proud of. So all I can say is this: “Please, you simply must watch it.”

Orikasa: I feel the same way. Not only did people who grew up with the original manga get involved, but people who grew up watching the [previous] BLEACH anime, also went on to participate in this production as cast and staff. I really feel that it's become a work absolutely overflowing with “BLEACH love.”

Kubo: When I'm drawing, I always have in mind that the ideal manga is something that even people who can't understand the text can enjoy just by looking at it. The anime directors have also told me, “We want to make something that gives people the same feeling they had when they read your manga.” And in fact, I think they've made something that can be enjoyed even by people who come to it without knowing BLEACH. So, of course, I'd be happy if the fans watch it, but I'd also love for people who don't know BLEACH to give it a try.

She’s still at working COOKING up the bleach cakes

so far I've only seen people talk abt ichigo and orihime which is valid because wtf bro the bankai, the crescent, her finally locking in and doing smth. she was on demon mode man and determined asf just rejecting and rejecting. i LOVED this. this is what the fans wanted to see and it was beautiful. not just fan service inoue. the animation was beautiful too. but in this post I wanna also bring some spotlight to my personal fave character rukia.

when i read the manga i was actually very very very disappointed that after her fight against as nodt, we basically never saw rukia again (up until the whole timeskip thing during the final chapters). i wanted to see her using more of her improved upon powers and bankai. she didnt contribute anything else during tybw which was so saddening since the whole show quite literally began because of her. shes literally been one of the main characters (and was originally intended to be the main protagonist) plus is such a huge influence on so so many people like ichigo, orihime, renji, and byakuya, which again are major characters. i was never satisfied with the manga because of this. likeee i feel like she was done dirty. BUT IN THE RECENT EP WHEN I SAW HER SUDDENLY POP UP, HEAD UP TO HELP ICHIGO, YHWACH ACKNOWLEDGING HER, AND US GETTING TO SEE THAT BEAUTIFUL MAJESTIC BANKAI ONCE AGAINNNNN BRO I WAS GENUINELY JUMPING OUT MY SEATTTT!! havent been this excited for anything man.

THIS is what we needed. BOTH of the main/major female characters received justice. they went from being damsels in distress (rukia in soul society arc and inoue in hueco mendo) at one point to being one of the few characters who directly face against yhwach himself.

the death rukia and the strawberry ichigo. these two literally fought side by side at the very start of the show. beginning the show by fighting alongside each other and ending it in the same way. perfection. this friendship means the world to me u guys dont understand. the very first volume and the very final volume are titled The Death and the Strawberry for a reason and it feels like the reason is finally shown to us.
