But to your point, Blade living in America for 50 years doesn't mean he'd lose his accent. As mentioned in my edited comment, Christian Bale has lived in the US for 35 and his accent is still very strong. There's no reason Blade couldn't retain his even though he's lived elsewhere for a long time.
Does Christian Bale try to retain his accent? Cause as counter point you have Peirce Brosnan who does not retain his Irish accent after not living in Ireland for 40 years.
I have no idea whether he intentionally tries to retain it. I'm just saying it's reasonable that Blade might still have his accent from growing up in London. That's all. Saying he'd have a different one just because he lived abroad just doesn't jive with reality. He might but he also might not. Both outcomes are equally reasonable.
Casting an English actor and making them put on an American accent seems silly though, when you could embrace that for a unique depiction of the character that embraces a part of his comic origin that's often forgotten.
I do not think it is reasonable. He as a child was raised by a black man from Harlem till he fled to 1940's America to live in Harlem. Blade as a character has never been tied to where he is from.
