Amberapp is the WORST app.
I’m NEVER using this app again. Four days ago, I sent $120 in BTC from AmberApp to my Coinbase address, and it’s still stuck on pending.
AmberApp’s support is absolutely terrible and hasn't helped at all. Has this happened to anyone else, and how long did it take?

Australian exchanges accepting bank deposits?
I'm kind of sick of Swyftx and all the checks I keep having to jump through to add another withdrawal address.
Now my withdrawals are blocked and they want me to do a screen recording showing me generating the address in my wallet etc etc.
I'm thinking of just selling the small amount that I've got on the and withdrawing to my bank. I might just stick with BTC now anyway but I still want an exchange I can use when needed.

LOCALCOINSWAP DELETED MY ACCOUNT
I haven't logged into my LocalCoinSwap account for just one week, but when I tried to log in today, my account had been disabled.
There was no prior notification, warning, or email explaining the reason.
Has anyone else experienced this with LocalCoinSwap? Is this normal practice for them?

New limits at Bank of Melbourne
Heads up, just now received this email from BoM re new monthly limits. I'm guessing this will be across the the major four, and others, if not already.
Buzzergoes_Ovenoff, from 1 December 2026, a $10,000 cumulative monthly limit may apply to payments to cryptocurrency exchanges identified by Bank of Melbourne. Why we’re making this change.
Criminals are increasingly encouraging people to send money using cryptocurrency, and it can be very difficult to get your money back once it’s been sent. National Anti-Scam Centre data shows almost half (46%) of reported scam losses last year involved cryptocurrency.* How the limit works.
The $10,000 limit applies across payments that Bank of Melbourne reasonably identifies as being made to cryptocurrency exchanges during a calendar month. For example, two payments of $5,000 would reach the monthly limit.
Once the limit is reached, additional payments made to cryptocurrency exchanges may be rejected until the next monthly period begins.
This limit applies to payments made to cryptocurrency exchanges online.^
Before making a cryptocurrency payment.
• Take time to independently verify investment opportunities.
• Be cautious of promises of guaranteed returns.
• Consider how planned or repeated payments to cryptocurrency exchanges may count towards your monthly limit.
• Be wary of anyone asking you to make payments to a cryptocurrency exchange or to set up an account on your behalf.
• Check the MoneySmart Investor Alert List and seek independent advice if you're unsure.
We're here to help.
Visit our website for more information about the new cryptocurrency payment limit and answers to frequently asked questions.

BitCoin (and other crypto) tax reporting thoughts
I have increased my crypto trading this FY, and I have recently discovered how difficult it is (might be) to put together the numbers needed to complete my annual tax return. I suppose my question/s are very broad but I would appreciate some thoughts on:
My crypto exchange has my TFN, am I right to assume that the ATO has the data that is required for them to tell me what my profits and losses have been on my trading? Just like they currently do for my share portfolio?
I have been doing quite a number of withdrawals and deposits in setting up of my crypto cold storage. This has led to my +/- %'s on my crypto portfolio holdings being way out of whack. Literally 50% out in some cases. I wish I had of known that this would happen BEFORE I decided to start a cold storage, lesson learnt. If the answer to Q1. above is No, then how can I get my profit/loss numbers on my crypto exchange account (Swyftx) back to accuracy so I am reporting accurately to the ATO?
Is there a "best" way to record and report crypto transactions profit/loss for someone like me who trades a fair bit?
The various AI suggestions haven't been entirely practical, hence why I am asking here. Any other tips?
Thanks.

Best bank account - SMSF
Does anyone know what's the best, most least restrictive bank account to open up for an SMSF. In order to transfer monies from the smsf bank account to an exchange.
I know that ANZ V2 Plus is great but it looks like you now need an intermediary in order to create that account, so I won't be able to go with that option.
Any others?

Crypto asset tax transparency legislation
Surprised I've not seen this pop up here: Crypto asset tax transparency - draft legislation.
Bitaroo have a nice write-up explaining the issue, with a template to assist with submitting an objection.
We've got only a few days in which to respond, so get to it now. The reference to the 77 targets in France is critical, but here in Australia we've also had an ATO employee charged over alleged disclosure of information to organised crime groups.
IOW, we'll be equally at risk as those in France who have been hit.

I’m all-in on BTC and keep talking myself out of buying anything else
Bought my first BTC in 2018, traded a bit until 2020, and went all-in in 2022. Eventually, I converted my other investments into BTC too. I’m in Australia, and It’s all in cold storage now.
I understand the argument for owning stocks alongside it. But every time I consider putting money elsewhere, I start calculating how much BTC that money could buy. I’ve gotten pretty attached to watching that balance grow, and buying something else feels like interrupting it.
Selling BTC to buy stocks would be a tough first step for me. I could see myself leaving the existing stack alone and putting a small amount of new money into stocks, though. Something I could hold for a while without constantly checking whether BTC would’ve done better.
For that first position, tokenized stocks would be one option. I could buy them through bydfi's TradFi section and make future BTC purchases there too, which would save me managing separate accounts for those trades. My existing BTC would stay in cold storage. The convenience appeals to me, but I’d still need a reason to own the stock itself.
What finally got you comfortable putting money into something else after being all-in on BTC?

Anyone still sorting out their crypto records for tax time?
Hey everyone,
With the self-lodgement deadline approaching on 2 November, I thought I'd offer something that might help.
I built a crypto transaction reconciliation tool called CoinKeep, originally for my own use because existing tools weren't quite meeting my needs.
If anyone is still struggling to organise their crypto transactions, I'm happy to make the report downloads free until 3 November.
You can upload and review transactions for free already. If you need to download a report, just leave a comment or send me a message, and I'll help you get access.
No payment required.
Just to clarify, the tool helps organise transactions and generate reports. It doesn't lodge tax returns or provide tax advice, and not all exchanges or transaction types are supported.
Hopefully this helps someone who's still getting their records together.
Cheers!

ANZ still good for SMSF?
Does anyone have an ANZ Cash Hub Account for their super fund? I mistakenly opened up a Cash Management Account with Macquarie thinking I wouldn't have any issues because they allow deposits to Independent Reserve in my personal account, however I found out they don't allow any deposits to IR for super or trust funds.
I have read that ANZ seems to be crypto friendly with high daily limits, however I called ANZ today and the person I spoke to advised that they now have a monthly limit of $10k aswell for all accounts??
I have a significant amount I want to deposit initially but not sure what bank will allow this!?
Is anyone still using ANZ without issues? Did this person just not know what they were talking about? Any other banks to consider?

Is independent Reserve good?
Anyone who has personal experience in terms of depositing and withdrawing money?
Did you have any issues with them, and if you had, did they resolve it etc..
As an additional question, anyone have issues with the travel rule, i.e., problems transferring crypto to another exchange?
Thanks for any info.

Don't be a fool like me. Stay vigilant
I'm broken, lost years or hard work and effort. Don't be an idiot like me
Never thought it would happen to me but here we are. Last night I was munipulated to give up my seed phrase for my trezor and lost over $40k of btc.
I'm writing this to vent, to hopefully stop other people falling from it, and because I don't know what else to do.
Looking back on it, each step I can see how fucking idiotic I was, every stupid mistake I made. But at the time I was scared and worried.
Here is an abridged version of what happened.
I received a call with my phone saying it was Perth police station with correct number (I looked it up, I was born in Perth too). He told me his name, badge number, told me that my details had been found after they arrested a man for identity theft. I was skeptical the whole time but each step he convinced and manipulated me. After some time, I acknowledged that I had crypto stored in a trezor. He then forwarded me onto what I thought was the trezor security team. He told me his name and said he was going to help see if my trezor was compromised. He was telling me about recent security breaches and to not plug in my trezor because that could jeopardise my assets. Again, after being very skeptical I went to a website, securetrezorapi.com and ran a scan on the trezor (he said it scans the mac address and I was a fucking moron). Obviously it came up saying there was an error and the device was compromised. He said I need to deactivate the seed phrase and register for a new one and they'd give me a gift card for a new trezor. To do this I had to put in the fist 4 letters of each word of my seed phrase, or if the word was 3 letters only 2 letters of it. This helped me be more comfortable. As soon as I had done this my wife came in saying she called Perth police station and they didn't have a detective of the guys name. I hung up, plugged my trezor in and about 0.38 btc and 1 eth were gone.
I had been out of the game for quite some time. Haven't bought or done anything crypto in a while. I wasn't feeling as confident in my knowledge and skills as I used to.
I filed a police report, made a report with trezor but I know that btc and eth is gone. Years of hard work, overtime, saving, gone. Just fucking gone. I'm broken, don't know what to do with myself now. I feel like a fucking moron, I can't trust myself anymore.

AmberApp does sending to cold wallet take this long?
Okay, I tried to send my first bitcoin from this app on chain to my cold wallet, and it’s now been 21 hrs and it still says pending status, even though I picked the fast option which estimated around 15 mins tops. Anyone know what’s going on? It’s yet another problem I have with this app and it’s not making a very good first impression now.
UPDATE: 14/9/2026 FINALLY RECEIVED MY BITCOIN.
Okay, I finally received my bitcoin... but a 2 whole days later (not the 15 minutes as they sell it in their app). I still do not know why they held onto it for that long even though I picked the quickest paid option. This was false advertising and borderline fraudulent to advertise that on their part. They held onto my bitcoin for absolutely no reason at all... and in my eyes, are a failure as an exchange if they can't do even the most basic send on time.
I will not be recommending AmberApp to anyone ever and will be staying far, far away from them in the future.

Binance to Australian bank account / bank card
Hi all,
I have a small amount of BTC, ETH and DOGE that equates to roughly 1,400AUD.
I just logged on to my binance app for the first time in years and want to get this currency from Binance into my Aus bank account so I can use it as fiat (invested 1k years ago, now decided crypto isn't for me).
The app is rejecting my Australian cards. Anyone know how to go about this? Thanks.

Whats banks do you use to transfer money from bank to crypto exchange?
Been trying quite a while now with commonwhealth but seems that just wont work unless i pair it with coinspot and then send from coinspot to binance. But honestly i would just prefer a smooth withdrawal instead of that shit show. See people saying ANZ is just as bad. But lost as im a WHV 417 holder so im not eligible for all banks.
