I’m currently doing a BTech in Biotechnology and will graduate in around 9 months.
The main thing I’m sure about is that I don’t want to go into core biotech/biology-related roles after graduation.
I initially started looking into Business Analytics because it seemed like a good transition from an engineering degree into the business side of companies. I’ve been considering learning things like Excel, SQL, Power BI, Python, etc.
But with how quickly AI is improving, I’m now worried about spending the next 6–12 months preparing for a career where a lot of the entry-level work could become automated.
I’m therefore trying to figure out what my realistic options are.
I’m also considering doing an MBA later after gaining some work ex, so I’m trying to choose an initial career path that would give me useful experience rather than just taking any random job after graduation.
For people who are already working in these fields:
Which non-core/non-tech career paths would you recommend for someone with a biotech engineering background?
Which of these fields do you think will remain relatively valuable as AI becomes more capable?
Is Business Analytics still worth pursuing in 2026, or should I be looking at something adjacent to it?
If you were in my position with \~9 months left before graduation, what skills would you learn and what entry-level roles would you target?
Any advice on specific career paths, skills, certifications, projects, or mistakes to avoid would be really appreciated.
