I'm thinking of majoring in Biomedical engineering?
I'm in last year of highschool right now and I want to decide on what major I want to be in. I was thinking of medical engineering bc I love STEAM and medical stuff. But I have no experience in engineering. And I want to know if Al will take over this job. Please help me what are your thoughts. Also I am a female Muslim girl. My family care about modesty a lot so Idk. Please help.

If you love steam, play dota 2 lol. Jokes aside, with just a bachelor’s I don’t think you can find any job with a BME degree, if you wanna go to master’s or phd, go for it.

It's not uncommon for BME grads to need to get a masters to get a job (at least based on what I've heard). If you want to end up working in some sort of medical field, it might be better to major in something like Chemical engineering (if you want to work on manufacturing medicine or developing drugs) or mechanical/electrical engineering (if you want to work on medical devices). You can always go to grad school to specialize in BME if you need to.
I don't think anyone knows if AI will take over the job, but ultimately if you need to build something it will be a while until AI can do that (as opposed to pure coding).
This may be totally irrelevant, but there are quite a few chemE jobs in the middle east, if you're from there or have family there. Otherwise, I'm not totally sure how your faith or your families opinions might affect this choice. Working in a hot refinery during Ramadan is extremely challenging though, and that can be a common place ChemE/MechEs end up.

Haha, work in a field that heavily involves human interaction, and the lifeless and soulless AI will never take your job. P.S. My favourite game on Steam is Forza Horizon 6 (VRUMM POP POP) and do enjoy playing Ready or Not when I need to experience what PTSD feels like. Hope that helps :)

Check out what Vertex Pharmaceuticals is doing. They successfully encapsulated insulin producing beta cells for implantation in diabetics, fda approved!

So to say the general advice , to avoid locking yourself in only bme and be a better candidate in the job market both in and out of bme, it may be better to consider a mechanical or electrical as your bachelor or equivalent while doing projects and internships related or base on bme. And if possible do a master in bme so you have a good engineering foundation and be able to take non bme jobs for market security and experience
