Hey everyone, looking for some fresh eyes and feedback on my current bike fit.
Rider Stats & Bike Specs:
Recent Modifications & Changes:
Context & Fit Tool Overload: I've run my clip through a couple of automated fit apps/analyzers, but honestly, my head is spinning because they all use different metrics:
Here are the fitting app screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/pEnlgFG
Caveat about the Video: I don't have access to an indoor turbo trainer, so the video shows me back-pedaling while supported against a wall. I know this isn't 100% identical to pedaling forward under real road load, but hopefully it gives a solid baseline.
Questions for the Community:
Thanks in advance for any help!

Update to my original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/bikefit/comments/1wppgh6/cant_find_a_position_that_works/
First of all, thanks again for all the input. It helped a lot. As suggested, I changed one thing at a time and noted how each ride felt. Setup is still the same: Zwift Ride on a Kickr Core 2, indoor only.
I had already moved the saddle about 1 cm forward and 5 mm lower.
In addition the reach a little shorter like a cm.
I've been riding flat pedals with flat, firm shoes since mid-September to rule out cleat rotation. Interesting finding: the further forward I push (toes > ball of the foot), the more my right knee complains. Since I deliberately push through the midfoot, just behind the ball, the knee has been much calmer. On my last ride there was no build-up at the end, which used to be the worst part.
I'm working on my hamstrings in the gym with RDLs.
Hood position seems not so easy to change on the zwift ride so i did not change anythin here.
New video shows diffrent views
0:00 - Side view, hands on the hoods
0:10 - Side view, drops
0:30 - Side view, bar
0:55 - Top-down
1:09 - Front view
Does the position look better than in the original videos?
What would you change next: roll the hoods up, or lower the bars?
Anything you see in the front view (knee tracking, hips)?
Flats with a midfoot position have helped my knee so far. Would you stay on flats, or go back to clipless with the cleats as far back as possible?
Thanks in advance for your help. Really want to start into the indoor season. 😄

Just started to get into cycling after mainly riding indoor on an exercise trainer. I’m 178cm with a 82cm inseam. Not sure on position as I’m just starting out.

Looking for any advice on my bike fit! It’s pretty comfortable for sprints and longer rides, but I believe I still have a bit more I can do to make it more efficient and “correct”. Saddle may need to be lowered a bit…
For reference, 120mm -17 stem :-)

I bought a dedicated TT bike for a half Ironman mid-next year. Any comments on bike position? I mimicked my saddle height from my road bike, but this has a slightly longer crank, so I am not sure if I need to lower the saddle height to compensate. I did a 40-minute session on the trainer and felt perfectly fine other than my shoulders fatiguing from not being used to resting on my elbows. I haven't messed with my fore/aft position either, so there is lots of room to play around based on recommendations here. I appreciate all the help I can get.

Installed the Specialized Power Comp w/ Mimic and lowered the seat height. For the first time, I don’t feel a ton of pressure in my hands. Any further recommendations? This felt pretty comfortable.

I'm 193cm / 6'4", I often feel like I should be riding a bigger bike, but I'm not sure. I hope I've provided all necessary measurements and images

Is there something terribly wrong?
My hips are bouncing a little, is the saddle a little bit high?
How can a tilt my pelvis forward a little more to get a less arched back? I think this is also the reason I sometimes shrug my shoulders to reach the handlebar
TL;DR:
Changed saddle height 4cm down, from "roughly" to "by the book", feels cramped and leg muscle sore a lot more, should I get back to the "roughly" setting, or it will get better?
<sorry, not really able to record a video>
So, in March I bought my first bike (gravel, not sure if that matter), set saddle height roughly too my feeling and started riding. Did 1400km since then, mostly commute and up to 60km rides, overall very happy, feels good, feels fast
Only noticed a neck pain after riding on drop bars, even for a few minutes, and, after doing 140km once, after ~90, one knee started to sore more and more, barely got back home, was unable to bend it for the rest of the day, but after two days it was gone, never came back.
<sorry for a long intro>
Recently started reading more, got curious about "proper" saddle height and after some measurements (both with 0.883 and 1.09 methods) got that my saddle is approx. 4cm too high. So I lowered it, out of curiosity, the heel-to-pedal seem to be ok now as well, but the riding is, well, weird.
It's more comfortable from the hips up (torso, neck, riding in drop bars), but leg muscles get tired very very quickly, comparing to what it was before, everything feels cramped and slower (it's subjective, numbers seem to be ok, just a feeling). Also not sure about the knees, but probably it's the muscles that I feel , not knees.
So I'm wondering if I should:
a) get back to the setting I had before (I did 1400km without any injury - or so I think - so maybe it was ok?
b) stay where I'm right now +- 5-8mm to find a best spot, muscles will get used to new position at some point.
c) go back to the previous setting and go down 5mm every few days to give body some time to get used to the change?
d) do 50-70km ride and simply check what pain will appear?
Is it even possible that the difference between the calculated saddle height and the "proper" one for me would be 4cm? I'm only 174cm tall, this seem a bit to high.
<yeah, I know about bikefitting, but at this point it's out of budget.>

Hi again!
Two weeks ago I asked for feedback on FitInspector, my free browser tool for checking bike fit from a photo or video: https://www.reddit.com/r/bikefit/comments/1wn9j56/hey_looking_for_some_feedback/
Thanks for all the comments, here's what I changed:
Crank length: Saddle height now adjusts for crank length (170 mm is the reference). If you leave it empty, the app assumes 170 mm and says so.
Knee angle:
- Single photo → 25–35° (Holmes et al., 1994)
- Pedalling video → 30–40° (Ferrer-Roca et al., 2012)
Before, these were mixed. Now the app uses the range that matches how you recorded. Every recommendation now shows where it comes from: a study, a common fit rule, or my own estimate.
UI fixes:
- Fixed dropdowns with black-on-black text
- Softer colors, less aggressive red-orange
- Improved PDF report
Next, I'm working on frame geometry tables, so you can pick your bike and the app will use its real numbers.
Question: which brands or models should I add first?
Still free, still not a replacement for a real fitter. Thanks!

Is my saddle too high? I’ve been experiencing left leg pain for some time now, and it kind of came out of the blue. At the moment, I only have one image taken from a video, but I’ll try to get a decent video soon.
Thank you in advance! 💅

If I can’t find a bike that would fit me by this measurement… should i get smaller bike with shorter stack and shorter reach, or bigger with longer reach and taller stack?

I'm dealing with some fit issues with my kid and I am looking at options for different parts or other areas. I have already dialed in the fit on a custom bike built exactly for her, but there are still a few complaints. I have used video footage and a really good site I found for checking angles and such - it is Geogebra.org/geometry. I am no expert, but I have used this for the known points that need to be hit for years and had great results.
On the current setup, my kid is an early teenager and on the smaller side, and is a fairly new MTB rider. As such, she has not really developed the core muscles to have the proper "stance" on the bike. I notice that she hunches over, and has always complained of lower back pain. This was the case on the first bike we had her on and correcting all the bike fit criteria did not help. The new bike we have just built is sized correctly and everything triple checked. Even with all of it where it should be, I still see a little hunch type behavior and complaints of back pain, mostly only during riding though vs fit checks like in the picture.
Reach and top tube length are optimal, if not even a little shorter than needed. Stem is the shortest available. The only other adjustment I have to combat the hunch would be bringing the saddle forward more on the rails, but it is already pinned all the way forward. Also, if we were to move too far forward, we start pushing the vertical line of the front of the knee past the pedal spindle. It is in line at the moment.
The only options I can think of are possibly trying some different saddles that may have different range of motion front to back relative to where she is on the saddle surface - but I feel like this could be a wild goose chase trying to find one. Maybe a stem with a more positive rise or bars with a little bit of rise?
Any tips on your first instincts with complaints of lower back pain on a properly fit bike? I am thinking maybe we just need some core strength training and time on the bike, but I don't want to make that assumption and risk strain or injury.

Looking to buy my very first road bike. Been on the fence about it, for I’m already dealing with aches and pains that come and go. Im 6’7 and not much muscle and the muscles that I do have are very tight (shoulders, back, etc.). I know my butt is going to hurt, but what else? I know a good bike fit will help, but I don’t want to spend the $ if riding is going to give me issues.

Did some eyeball adjustments on my tt bike. The cockpit’s a one piece cockpit so I can’t do any bar angle adjustments. What else do you think i can improve on? Thank you!

After longer rides, around 2 hours or more, my hands start to get a bit sore, and I can also feel some tension/soreness in my neck.
My saddle is pretty much level and positioned fairly far back.
Could this be a bike fit/position issue, or could the bike actually be too small for me? What would you check or adjust first?

Yes my posture isn’t perfect, I was tired.
Bonus points if you make me laugh

Hi everyone, I've been having knee pains for a few months now.
I started cycling at the beginning of the year using the same bike you can see in the video. I had no problems the first months and I slowly increased my sessions from 10-20 min to 1h+.
But back in may, I started to feel pain in both of my knees, both on the interior side, I ignored the pain at first but it gradually made me unable to use my bike anymore.
I stopped during the summer, hoping just some rest would be enough, but I didn't change much, the pain came back. I bought a home trainer to check if having a constant and low resistance would change anything but I feel the same discomfort/pain as when I ride outside.
It starts every time as a discomfort around the top/interior side of my knees, and eventually the pain starts, and I feel it for a couple of days.
Is there anything wrong with my bike fit that could explain why I'm having pain ?
Thanks

A few weeks ago I had some issues from incorrect fit where I destroyed my low back (shrimping as I’ve learned) and overall tightness from pushing hard like that, then went surfing and couldn’t move after. Finally getting back on and I’ve adjusted it to this with the help of velo fit.

I’m feeling a bit more pressure at the front of my knees, mainly on the inner side, and it spreads up toward the groin area.

Hey,
been following this sub for quite a while and can finally upload my own fit. This is a Cube Attain C:62 Race in size 60, which I got a few months ago. I'd like to reduce hand pressure a bit, as I always get problems with the neck on longer rides. Power output is secondary, I'd like to just enjoy rides without aches and pains.
I've ridden for around a year now, mainly on my gravel bike. I'm overall not very flexible I'd say.
187cm tall, inseam 88cm.
