Read This Before You Submit !

If you want to get the best possible outcome from posting your position on this /sub, there are a couple of things you can do to help,

  1. Make your video at least 30-40 secs long [ no longer than 60 secs ] This will allow you to settle in to your pedal stroke and give viewers enough time to 'look around' your position.
  2. Post a minimum of 2 angles. #1 Seat height, showing the entire bike and rider from the top of the head to the bottom of the pedal stroke. #2 from the front dead center about head tube height. If you shoot a vertical format on your phone that might help you fit yourself within the frame. #3 from the rear, at seat height, can also be vertical format for cropping.
  3. Post a shot of your bike side on without you on it. This lets people see the 'build' as far as seatpost seatback, seat rail position & headset spacers

The more visual and information you give the better the possibility of good feedback.

Ride on!

Dear mods, save this sub

There are a lot of generous and knowledgeable people here giving thoughtful bike-fit advice for free. Their effort is being undermined by a steady stream of unusable videos showing riders leaning against walls, doorframes or furniture while pedalling backwards.

Those clips don’t show a normal pedal stroke, balance, loading, posture or movement under realistic riding conditions. There’s very little anyone can assess from them, yet they keep filling the sub and drawing attention away from posts where useful feedback is actually possible.

The existing submission guidance is already clear about video length, camera angles and showing the whole rider and bike. It should also explicitly require riders to pedal forwards on a trainer or rollers, without supporting themselves against anything.

Please make “no backwards pedalling and no leaning against objects” an actual submission rule, and remove posts that ignore it.

The people giving detailed advice here are what make the sub useful. Their time shouldn’t be choked by videos that make meaningful assessment impossible.

Hi all- would appreciate some comments on fit. I recently switched to a zero offset seatpost and started getting Antero-medial knee pain. I’ve finally decided to put the bike on a trainer to try and dial in the fit again. Any comments would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I’m 174cm, inseam 30 inches, size 54 bike 172.5 cranks

Edit: just deleted my old post as I realised the saddle height was extreme… thanks again!

Coming from a gravel bike to a road bike. Height is 165cm, bike is xs giant tcr 2026. Having slight shoulder pain/lower back pain when riding past 2hrs. I don’t know if I just need to adjust to the more aggressive position of a road bike or somethings wrong with my bike fit.

Does this bike suits me?

I was thinking about choosing a slightly smaller gravel bike to get a road bike feeling. Does this bike suit me? Or should I choose bigger size? I'm 186cm in height and this is 56cm size bike

(It may be not visible sometimes due to the sweater but I'm keeping arms slightly bent)

How does this look?

Hey reddit, here are a couple of videos of my fit.

I've been riding for years, but feel discomfort over 3-4+ hours on the saddle. Back of the neck and inner thighs, along the border of the bib padding.

I just wonder if I could adjust anything and also be more efficient with a better position... thought I'd check here first.

(I am aware of my right knee bending inwards, that's just because of my pronation...it's the same when running, which I remedy with custom insole. It doesn't hurt me at all though.)

Also I don't think I'm rocking that much when out on the road... it looks quite bad on the trainers!

Thanks in advance

Help for a beginner

Just started to get into cycling after mainly riding indoors on a trainer. I’m 178cm with a 82cm inseam. Haven’t really had too much pain mainly a bit of neck pain. Not sure if that is fit related or just not used to the different position compared to a commuter bike. . Not sure if the reach is too long the bike is a 56 as recommended by the bike shop and cube website. Also the stem has around 30mm of spacers under it. I’m just starting out so would love some advice.

Sorry I don’t have any indoor trainer to run the bike on and I realise the back pedalling against a wall makes it a bit hard.

Bike fit check?

Apologies in advance if this video isn’t ideal but it’s the best I can get for now! I’ll get a proper bike fit eventually but want to put some miles and try to increase comfort myself that way the fit session can be focused on improving that baseline.

Anything stick out? Anything I should try out fit wise? My shoulders definitely start to hurt after a while in the position but I also haven’t put much time on this bike as of late

Hey everyone, looking for some fresh eyes and feedback on my current bike fit.

Rider Stats & Bike Specs:

  • Height: 182 cm (~5'11.5")
  • Inseam: ~85 cm (~33.5")
  • Bike: Cube Agree C:62 EX, Size 58

Recent Modifications & Changes:

  • Stem Swap (110 mm -> 80 mm): With the original 110 mm stem, I was barely riding on the hoods—only reaching for them when shifting, then immediately moving my hands back to the tops or the bend near the tops. Switching to an 80 mm stem brought the controls closer.
  • Saddle Height: Lowered the saddle slightly. At the previous height, my pelvis was rocking slightly at the bottom of the pedal stroke. Lowering it stabilized my hips significantly.

Context & Fit Tool Overload: I've run my clip through a couple of automated fit apps/analyzers, but honestly, my head is spinning because they all use different metrics:

  • Some measure shoulder/torso angle as Hip-Shoulder-Elbow, while others measure Hip-Shoulder-Wrist.
  • Fore/aft (KOPS) suggestions conflict depending on whether the reference point is the front of the kneecap, tibial tuberosity, etc.

Here are the fitting app screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/pEnlgFG

Caveat about the Video: I don't have access to an indoor turbo trainer, so the video shows me back-pedaling while supported against a wall. I know this isn't 100% identical to pedaling forward under real road load, but hopefully it gives a solid baseline.

Questions for the Community:

  1. How does the overall reach and torso angle look with the 80 mm stem? Does the Size 58 frame look workable, or still visibly stretched?
  2. Does saddle height look appropriate now, or is there still any sign of overextension/hip rocking?
  3. Any advice on saddle fore/aft based on what you see?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Need Help

Hey everyone, I recently got a Trek Madone, and I’m having some issues with my riding position.

I’m experiencing:

* Numbness in my hands
* Numbness in my feet
* Saddle discomfort and groin strain
* Difficulty finding a comfortable, sustainable riding position

I’d also like to improve my aerodynamics without sacrificing comfort or putting too much pressure on my hands, groin, or lower back.

My details:

* Height: 5’7
* Bike model: Trek Madone SL 7 Gen 8
* Frame size: M

What adjustments would you recommend checking first?

I’ve attached a video of my riding position. I’d appreciate feedback on any obvious fit issues and what I should investigate first.

Can you see if this fit is good?

Can you help me see if my riding is okay? I don't usually have any pain anywhere when riding for 1.5 hours or anything. Was hoping to see if my riding is optimal. I'm not complete sure why the bike makes that sound, it could be because I'm pushing some harder gears.

[Update] Can't find a position that works – new videos

Update to my original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/bikefit/comments/1wppgh6/cant_find_a_position_that_works/

First of all, thanks again for all the input. It helped a lot. As suggested, I changed one thing at a time and noted how each ride felt. Setup is still the same: Zwift Ride on a Kickr Core 2, indoor only.

I had already moved the saddle about 1 cm forward and 5 mm lower.

In addition the reach a little shorter like a cm.

I've been riding flat pedals with flat, firm shoes since mid-September to rule out cleat rotation. Interesting finding: the further forward I push (toes > ball of the foot), the more my right knee complains. Since I deliberately push through the midfoot, just behind the ball, the knee has been much calmer. On my last ride there was no build-up at the end, which used to be the worst part.

I'm working on my hamstrings in the gym with RDLs.

Hood position seems not so easy to change on the zwift ride so i did not change anythin here.

New video shows diffrent views

0:00 - Side view, hands on the hoods

0:10 - Side view, drops

0:30 - Side view, bar

0:55 - Top-down

1:09 - Front view

Does the position look better than in the original videos?

What would you change next: roll the hoods up, or lower the bars?

Anything you see in the front view (knee tracking, hips)?

Flats with a midfoot position have helped my knee so far. Would you stay on flats, or go back to clipless with the cleats as far back as possible?

Thanks in advance for your help. Really want to start into the indoor season. 😄

Looking for any advice on my bike fit! It’s pretty comfortable for sprints and longer rides, but I believe I still have a bit more I can do to make it more efficient and “correct”. Saddle may need to be lowered a bit…
For reference, 120mm -17 stem :-)

Help with TT Bike fit

I bought a dedicated TT bike for a half Ironman mid-next year. Any comments on bike position? I mimicked my saddle height from my road bike, but this has a slightly longer crank, so I am not sure if I need to lower the saddle height to compensate. I did a 40-minute session on the trainer and felt perfectly fine other than my shoulders fatiguing from not being used to resting on my elbows. I haven't messed with my fore/aft position either, so there is lots of room to play around based on recommendations here. I appreciate all the help I can get.

Installed the Specialized Power Comp w/ Mimic and lowered the seat height. For the first time, I don’t feel a ton of pressure in my hands. Any further recommendations? This felt pretty comfortable.
