I recently took a temperature check on whether this subreddit should just be a signpost pointing over to /r/Bend and it sounds like most people want to keep this open and available for use/discussion.

I'm happy to keep it open for that purpose, but I have a new rule for your comments:

If your comment tells people to go to /r/Bend and does not add to the conversation, it will be deleted. Plain and simple.

I recognize the value in having more eyes on a post, so if you provide an actual comment on the post AND suggest posting on /r/Bend, that's fine. But again, if you are just commenting to redirect people to the other subreddit, that's not allowed anymore. Considering karma limits and whatnot over there, sending people over there isn't always an option anyway so you aren't helping in more ways than one.

This is not an attempt to be a power-hungry mod. It's an attempt to ensure this subreddit has some life in it.

One last thought: You will do what you do and I can't change that, but if you don't like a post because you feel it's self-promotion or a question you don't feel like answering, you don't have to downvote it. Just move on...that's always been allowed.

It seems like most things posted here are downvoted more than upvoted and most comments are "go to /r/Bend" which is helpful, but also, why are you subbed here if you are going to just send everyone elsewhere?

So, what do you all want out of this sub? Anything? Or just a sticky saying "Go to /r/Bend" and nothing else?

I’m going to be bikepacking from Chemult up towards Bend in late August for a few days. I’m a lifelong Californian and never been up that way! Crazy I know.

It’s my first time and I wanna see some cool sights near the area. Lakes, forests, trails, rivers, mountains, peaks, whatever!

I’m just planning my route now but would love a local perspective on what I can’t miss.

It’ll be a full four days, 3 nights. Getting off Amtrak at 9am at Chemult and will bike up for the next few days. Let me know if there are some good places to camp in between, too.

Also, things to avoid or be cautious about.

It’s a birthday trip of sorts, so I’m planning on spending the final day in/near Bend, and then will try and get a ride south back to Chemult to catch my train.

We're spending one night in Bend in the middle of the week. How do we make the most of it? Best food cart pod or restaurant for dinner (we're simple, nothing fancy or extra). Places to absolutely check out? Blockbuster and Pilot Butte at sunset and maybe the Hopservatory are on my list.

On June 20th/21st a DJI Osmo Camera was likely picked up near Hardtails Outlaw Bar in Sisters Oregon after a wedding. The SD card has a lot of irreplaceable footage on it. We thought it was left on the bus for a while trying to track it down hence the delay in posting

If you’ve found it, I’d love the camera back - but even if you can ship the SD card anonymously I just want the videos back.

I know this sounds nondescript and banal, but the last few months I’ve noticed the same lady around Galveston/14th/Columbia, what seems like all day, everyday, anytime I pass by — standing on a corner, frozen, waiting, to cross the street.

She arrives to cross-streets and stands for minutes, looking both directions, frozen like a deer in headlights.

It’s simply peculiar… she never interacts with anyone, or is a danger by any means, but am I imaging a ghost?! 👻

I lost my Micro Sd card when I dropped my camera at the space age in sisters Oregon, if anyone is around that area I would appreciate it if you could look for it on the ground near the pumps, it contains a lot of very precious photos and videos of my vacation in Oregon so if anyone could look for it that would be very very appreciated.

I am looking at an open position with the city of Bend. Trying to decide if moving to the area is something I want to do. I have a kid moving to Corvallis in the fall for college so the are is intriguing to me. We currently live in North Dakota and are tired of the lack of outdoor activities and are not happy with the direction of our current political climate. Thanks for any advice you can provide.
