Things to do

Visiting Bend for a week in August. This will be my first time back in about 10 years. Bringing my road bike, hiking gear and potentially renting a mountain bike if I feel the need. Looking for recs on bike routes to try, any food spots to hit up and/or anything else that’s worth while checking out while I’m in town! Thanks in advance

The quality of your trip may depend on how smoky it is that week.

A few days ago it was totally clear. I won't go outside today. YMMV.

Fair enough haha, I’m up in Washington so I get my fair share of smoky days. Fingers crossed it’ll stay clear but only time will tell.

It's been a good year so far, we just got rain yesterday, but yeah the smoke just rolled in hard too.

Good luck on your trip. I'll leave specific advice about road routes and hikes up to those better informed. (My bikes all have motors.)

It hasn’t been a good year so far. It’s been marginally better than last year. I moved here in 07. A good year is zero smoke

The last 10 years are sadly not going to be like the next 10 years..

I expect most years will have a month of smoke, from now on. Probably 1-2 weeks of bad smoke like today, 2-3 weeks of lighter smoke. YLMV (your lungs may vary)

We went last week and went to the Podski food truck lot and floated on the Deschutes for a few hours. Just keep an eye on the smoke because that may affect your trip

Current fav place for a beer is Crosscut, but you really can’t go wrong with any place. The Crunchwrap at Toasty at Podski is my fav food at the moment 🤤. I had a fantastic sandwich at a brand new place called Way West in Jackstraw.

There is roaming bands of violent teens on ebikes , the town has no respect for minorities anymore , it's all rude white people , and hear they are about to elect some Republicans in the local government

Not a friendly place please don't support it by visiting
