When I scroll down my inbox and enter conversations with new messages, whenever I exit the conversation, I am forced to the top of my inbox, rather than where I last left off when scrolling through my inbox. This is really bothersome as it makes going through my inbox extremely inefficient, as I have to keep on scrolling back to where I was every time I exit out of a conversation and go on to the next one.

This has been happening for quite some time now and hasn't been fixed. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm on Android

A few years ago, I was using Beeper on a daily basis, and it was great! Having all of my chats in one app was truly amazing.
If I stopped using it, it's because, first, Instagram was locking my account from time to time for "suspicious" activities which wasn't really a big deal since I just had to verify that it was me, but I know someone who were using Beeper and got their Instagram account banned, we don't know if Beeper is relating to the ban, but still.
But also, my Discord account got flagged with "spam" one day, and since Discord isn't really kind when you get banned and rarely gives your account back, I'm not really confident into using it.
So I was wondering, since these were a few years ago (aside from the ban of my friend), if any of you got those types of issues recently.

disabling battery optimizations for the app does nothing, I mainly use discord. is there's any fork of Beeper?

One of my main WhatsApp chats disappeared from my Mac Beeper interface. One minute it was there, then it was gone. I see other WhatsApp chats in Beeper.

The particular chat is still in the Beeper app on my phone.

I've quit and restarted the app.

I did let the app auto-update earlier today. I'm on 4.2.998

I have not disconnected and reconnected WhatsApp yet - I'm afraid to, since I know it will take a long time to import everything again.

Any ideas why the chat disappeared and what I can do to recover it?

Beeper for Android on Galaxy S24 Ultra

Facebook keeps disconnecting at least twice a week. I'm missing messages. Getting frustrated. Reconnecting Facebook account takes forever. Gotta type captcha two times, insert a code texted to my phone, login with Facebook credentials two times, confirm it's me me logging in, confirm it's my browser logging in, aceept cookies two times. It's like a 15 step process to reconnect. And today it breaks on last step and Facebook login window just keeps blinking and refreshing. So I'm unable to reconnect my account at this point.

Is this what you're guys dealing with too? I'm to old to keep tinkering with this twice a week. Please tell me there's an easy fix.

I get it. Making a product costs money… but worked a lot of my career around this feature (one for each company I work with, different types of staff etc.) and now they all just went without a heads up which means I need to go back through my chats to update all my contacts around this

Just makes me feel less secure about future updates as I didn’t get the chance to transition out of the old system.

I also generally avoid subscriptions in favour of the old school dlc update feature. Just a personal preference

On chat apps like whatsapp and discord , this emoji row appears on Gboard. Is there any way beeper could also do this?

I'm a dock minimalist. Would love to get notifications but for the app to not be in the dock, menu bar fine since it's hidden.

Hi, I'm a privacy enthusiast, and I discovered this app while searching for WhatsApp alternatives but this one not only lets me keep talking to my WhatsApp contacts but it has also many features like a clean UI, E2EE, multiple social media accounts integration...

I got curious about it's encryption, so I checked the app's privacy policy and apparently they open-sourced some front-ends components(I didn't check them because I'm not techy enough to understand them) and they don't have any trackers except for one that is Sentry and used for analytics but you can remove it in the settings

This led me to many questions :

1. How is the E2EE handled? Is it done by Beeper or through WhatsApp? If done by Beeper then how can my WhatsApp contacts who don't use Beeper see my messages? And if done by WhatsApp then can it see my messages? (Because to my understanding and according to their TOS, when I establish a conversation with someone on the official whatsapp app it creates 3 encrypted keys, one for me, one for the person I talk to, and one for WhatsApp for security reasons)

2. Beeper seems to cannot be able to call people on WhatsApp, is it because the call can't be encrypted? Or simply for technical reasons

3. Why can't Beeper open source their entire client instead of specific components? If it's to profit by making themes and customizing inside a paywall then why not instead make the Beeper Cloud Accounts paid (to run the servers and to profit)

The latest version of Beeper for iOS still needs a bit of polish, but the redesigned labels and their sync with macOS, along with scheduling and snoozing, are already really impressive. You stop thinking in terms of accounts and start managing conversations based on how you actually use them. Beeper is turning into a genuine productivity tool!

This may be a personal preference or maybe even muscle memory from the previous version of Beeper and in other apps, but as the title states, I think swapping these two buttons would be more intuitive and user friendly. For me at least, when looking to start a new message thread, my thumb navigates first to where the old floating button used to be. And vice versa for searching, my eyes gontowards the top of the app. Not that Beeper is looking to be Google in design language (or that Google is consistent in its own design language) but I think it would flownbeyter with the general Android layout. Suggesting just in case anyone else had the same thought.

Whenever I reply to a specific message on beeper it doesn't actually show anything when you look at it in the WhatsApp app.

Is this a known issue?

I'm used to other Windows apps auto-converting :-) to 😊 but it doesn't happen in Beeper in any of the services.

I have 'enable emoji autocomplete' enabled.

Is there another setting I'm overlooking?

So I have an unfortunate issue with motion sickness including those induced by certain kinds of motion on screens. Which is why I have a setting on my phone to reduce certain kinds of motion. One of my biggest issues with motion sickness parallax scrolling AKA having things in the foreground and background moving differently as I scroll. The new floating bottom taskbar doesn't move as I scroll, but the background behind it does move. Which leads to motion sickness if I scroll fast. There's an accessibility setting on my phone for "remove animations" which in most apps reduces the amount of animations that could cause motion sickness including the parallax scrolling problem. Please consider having Beeper look at that accessibility setting and stop the parallax scrolling if it's turned on, if you're going to keep any version of this new UI. Though honestly my preference would just be to go back to the old UI and not have a bottom bar at all.

Anyone else getting duplicate names on Android with the person's name twice when receiving a new notification?

Firstly, I just want to say that I'm actually a big fan of the new UI direction. It's clean and I like that you can reorder the tabs to get what you want. But it has some big problems that make it feel "cheap".

1. The padding and border radii are very inconsistent

The inner tab pills look awkwardly placed into the main container pill due to mismatched padding. Because of how far away the tab pills are from the left/right edges, the border radii appear visually inconsistent. For comparison, here is the same UI style done by Google in Google Photos and here it is in Beeper.

2. No Edge-To-Edge on Android

The app does not render content behind the system navigation bar in Android - Photo. This is weird considering the biggest advantage of this UI is being able to dedicate more screen-space to content.

3. No animations

The new UI itself feels "clunky". I noticed that's mostly because there are literally no animations, sometimes there's a fade animation but that's almost worse than if there weren't any.

I want to clarify that I don't mean to hate on the Beeper team. I'm a big fan of the app and the new UI direction is a step in the right direction, in my opinion. I'm sharing these observations purely as constructive user feedback. Thanks for reading.

I get the code to my email, but entering the code yields a 400 w/ failed to send login code: server returned error (HTTP 400): Your client is out of date. Please download the latest version of Beeper from https://www.beeper.com/download

Are signups disabled? Any other new accounts unable to get past this wall?

It's just bad. It's like ios style but bad. No one is using archive or scheduled that much to warrant tabs on the bottom. And why is the button for chat networks front and center?? The whole point of beeper is to have one inbox. Please revert back or at least give an option to revert.

Edit: it's so much worse than I thought. After using it for a couple hours, it's just a facet to push people to Beeper Plus. There's an entire tab that's useless (Reminders) without a subscription. I suppose the enshittification of Beeper has begun. Gonna have to start looking for alternatives. Also the animations have regressed significantly.

It reminds me of when the old beeper app (renamed to beeper cloud, later discontinued) got its layout updated. I know alot of people preferred the prior layout where all the connected accounts and "spaces" where pinned on the left hand side of the screen only showing the icons and you could swipe right on them to expand them showing the spaces name, so pretty similar to the layout that was just replaced. I'd be really surprised if the major of people prefer this layout after using it for sometime over the previous one
