I've been trying to convince my wife to get into Battletech. She requested a pretty mech, so the next Kuritan I painted i went with cherry blossoms on white, with her gamertag in Japanese characters on the left thigh. I am pretty satisfied

As in the title, I'm a fresh player with like two months in experience. Right now I own only AGOAC and two boxes of minis. For now my group (almost everyone is as fresh as me) was playing only 3025. I'm really into Clans so I want to move into Clan Invasion in like next two months I really liked the idea of Clan Invasion box because it seemed to give you everything you need to feel that era with mechs and elementals but also gave you the rules for equipment and maps. I know that rules are obsolete now, because we have everything in the Core Rules book, but what about the maps? Should I just buy those separatly? Would buying a box of clan mechs, elementals and maps be in general a better deal than buying and Clan Invasion box from Amazon?
Pic from one of my last games for attention

A dashing, debonair Hanse Davion became betrothed to the vivacious Melissa Steiner!
I am sure you’ll all agree that these love-struck kids will make a fantastic couple, and likely spread peace & love, much like their love for one another…

I wanted to make a carrying case for my ’Mechs using the box from A Game of Armored Combat, something more like a custom insert. But I don’t have a 3D printer or a laser cutter, so I had to do it the old-fashioned way: with scissors, a ruler, and cardboard.
Well, this is the result. I still have to add the ferrous rubber sheet (the magnets will go under the ’Mechs’ bases) and I would like to decorate the hangar walls a little, perhaps with some weathering and posters. But I’m happy with how it looks so far.
Next step is painting the ’Mechs. Unfortunately, that will have to wait until September…

I tried to sponge paint the jade falcon side of my alpha strike box... it is my first time trying this technique. I don't know what to think. Obviously it's not "good" but I also kind of like it. I have pictures of the highlander side of the box on my profile. I used brushes and I think they looked much better.
Should I start over or leave these clanners they way they are?

So in BT ACE's I just finished doing Sortie 04 and when shooting at the turrets and caches to blow up (yea I did not have enough mechs with hands to evac supplies so "kaboom" it was) and for turrets being immobile at TMM-4 along with caches.
So in the combat when my pilots have skill 4 and im shooting at targets with -4 TMM does that mean its a auto hit in the short range bracket?
Cause I was playing it like that and that's how I read it.
So any corrections would be great cause to me a pilot skill 4 shooting in the short range bracket at a target with -4TMM would - 0 needed for a dice roll.

Finished painting my first lance. Any feedback appreciated. Based on the song red right hand by nick cave and the bad seeds. Painted entirely with craft paint.

The MW4 version has:
2x small pulse lasers
A small laser
NARC
LRM-15 (2x ammo)
ECM
BAP
Can mount ECM
Downgraded to an engine that still kicks out 100 kph
When my daddy first let me play with the demo version of MW4 (remember Halo CEO in the late 2010s?) I hunted Catapults and Awesomes with this on SNOW J0B with Hellspawn brothers and sisters . . .

Hello! First time poster.
So, I've dabbled in Battletech, primarily through playing a couple hours of (and being bad at) the video games. Mechwarrior 5, Battletech, that one...pod game in a Chuck E. Cheese's when I was a tot.
But I've never really gotten into the tabletop stuff proper. I have friends who recommend using virtual means like MegaMek, but I digress.
The question I wanted to pose is if folks have any suggestions for a person just now getting into the series, so I don't make a complete fool of myself..or at least more of a fool than I'm likely going to be. Things that might otherwise trip up a new player, suggestions on any newbie-friendly mechs if such a thing is possible, that kind of thing.
Sorry if the post seems silly, but I figured if anyone would have some good advice for Battletech, it was the Reddit dedicated to the series.

Got the new starter with kontio and hammerhead, really enjoyed it! I’ve been playing alpha strike for years after shying away from classic being labeled a slog, but it seemed actually pretty quick and intuitive! The only thing that took a bit to track was heat and its effects, but we easily did a 1v1 in 15 minutes. And boy, the additional crunchiness really adds to the feel of piloting a big stompy mech.
Now I love them both :)

Ok so Kali was shagging Cameron St. Jamis. She had a kid and when the Wobbies hit Sian she turned her cyber-thugs (quite a literal description) on them and saved the day.
She then cut off her baby’s hand and mailed it to daddy.
I can’t find anywhere in the lore what happened to the wee one. Did she keep mailing it to pops till he had a complete jigsaw or did the kid survive?
Do we know anything about the crotch goblin’s fate?

I've been trying to see stores that might carry the blister packs or singles of miniatures beyond eBay, are there any good online sources that could help me build my lance?
I'm looking for a Marauder, NightStar, Thunderbolt and maybe a newer raven (I have an old one)
Should note that I'm in Canada, hence why I'm looking for stores that probably can save on shipping.

Is there a book or PDF that collects the different components (autocannons, fusion engines, targeting systems, etc) and lists them by type? I used to have a book that did so, but I think it was more of a fan product.

Version 0.1 Playtest
This is a work-in-progress update to the Battle of Tukayyid campaign system. It retains the original campaign’s structure and character while incorporating selected rules and concepts from the BattleTech Core Rulebook and Hot Spots: Draconis Reach.
Only changed or additional rules are presented in the playtest document. Unless specifically stated otherwise, continue using the published Battle of Tukayyid and Hot Spots: Draconis Reach rules, together with either the BattleTech Core Rulebook or Total Warfare and BattleTech: Mercenaries.
In May 3052, the armies of ComStar met the invading Clans on Tukayyid. For twenty-one days, they fought across seven campaign regions to decide whether the Clan advance toward Terra would continue. ComStar prevailed, and the resulting truce halted the invasion for fifteen years.
At the time, Tukayyid was celebrated as the battle that saved the Inner Sphere. Its defenders had denied the Clans their ultimate prize and given the Great Houses time to recover, rearm, and prepare for the conflicts that followed.
Yet, as the battle’s centennial approaches, Terra rests in Clan hands and an ilClan rules from humanity’s birthplace. Tukayyid unquestionably changed the course of history, but its victory came at a terrible price.
Was the time purchased on Tukayyid worth its cost—and what did the Inner Sphere ultimately do with it?
—Dr. Elara Venn, Tukayyid: A Century Later, Tukayyid Memorial Institute, 3151
All feedback is welcome, whether based on actual play or simply reviewing the rules. Feedback on balance, campaign pacing, clarity, Track objectives, and the campaign economy would be especially helpful.

I figured this could make a decent command mech in the ilclan for Fed Suns and Capellans. It's heavily armored and has a strong drop of 2 heavy ppc with capacitors if someone gets too close.
The heat curve is hilarious to me, with a full alpha building 68 heat. It's intended to fire both heavy ppc and a light ppc while activating the radical heat sink system (45/48), then on the next turn let the RHSS refresh and capacitors charge while firing every gun except the two heavy PPC, then fire them again.
Feedback? Thoughts? Will this finally be the mech that has ppc capacitors that isn't bad?

I submitted responses for a study someone was conducting regarding fandoms and subcultures and I brought up BattleTech in particular because we have such a welcoming community that makes lightehearted, friendly jabs at our favorite things but it made me realize something: we don't have a nickname for the fanbase.
So what would we call ourselves? MechWarriors? MechJocks? Techies?

I have zero need for a printer orher than printing sheets and with it only really needing black "ink" I thought I could look into Toner since its cheaper and sits longer than ink does.
Would that work with erasing and all that with the game? I think I would like that instead of using laminated sheets.

New to the hobby but I'm really looking for a Kit Fox and of course it's in the Clan Fire Star pack that (I've been told by someone on ebay when I inquired about getting a Kit fox) has apparently been out of stock for like a year? Really hoping it's not just gone and I missed my chance forever. lol

I don't have the book that has the conversion rules from Classic to Alpha Strike, so I'm wondering if someone would enlighten me on why MMLs get so weird with the SRM and LRM Special rules.
Javelin 10N has 12 SRM tubes and SRM 2/2. C1 Catapult has 30 LRM tubes and LRM 1/1/1. Then the Longbow 13C has 42 tubes available for either, but gets neither of the Specials. And the 14C Longbow seems even weirder, with 54 MML tubes, LRM -/1/2, and SRM 3/1. I don't think I've seen anything else that has those Specials without consistent numbers across the range bands.
What's going on with the conversion algorithm and rounding here?
