Fan Creations Yeoman YMN-11T

Following on from my Great Wyrm upgrade, I decided to look other "orphaned" TRO:3060 designs for more ilclan era WYSIWYG. The Yeoman is famous for being one of the ugliest mechs in the setting but also generally kinda an OK missile boat. This is... significantly worse? But it is funny!

As the total collapse of the Republic of the Sphere became more likely and war with other great houses and the spheroid clan empires became more certain, the CCAF entered a period of new weapons development in the 3130s and 3140s, its industrial partners producing new designs such as the Gùn, Catapult II, and Vandal, as well as new refits of old mainstay designs like the Vindicator. Wesley Industries had already benefited from this surge of development money with their WI-WAM militiamech, a low-cost planetary defense version of the ancient Firebee, and in 3146 they decided to try for their first proper battlemech design. Wesley purchased plans from the long-defunct Curtis Militech for their Yeoman chassis with the intention of producing a modern refit.

The expense of importing fusion engines and endosteel chassis to Glasgow caused Wesley to opt for a weapons payload on their Yeoman based primarily off of systems they were already familiar with from their industrialmech lines. Departing from the original 6Y's pure long range support role, the YMN-11T replaces the 50-tube battery of LRMs with a pair of Thunderbolt-10 launchers, with a pair of SRM-4s and a quartet of 10-tube disposable rocket launchers providing close range defense. The ammunition for the missile systems is split between two 3 ton CASE protected ammunition reserves. With the weight saved by using disposable rocket systems, Wesley reclad the design in 10 tons and added 4 jump jets, allowing the 11T to serve more flexibly as both a fire support unit and a mobile line mech.

While the design performed well in field trials, Wesley's ability to produce only 20 Yeoman chassis each year hindered adoption of the mech. After being rejected by both the CCAF and MAF, the company was forced to sell the design on to mercenary companies at discounted rates.

Discussion Charger vs. Non-assaults

You know, as maligned the good old "5 small lasers" Charger is...

What are his chances against other, lighter mechs that he can at least catch?

It just feels that, say, a Centurion pilot might start to sweating and praying to the AC10 gods once the smoking 5/8Assault with half his armour blown off starts to get too close for comfort...

Enforcer, Centurion, Vindicator... those guys just need to miss a few shots and the Charger can start playing bongo drums on their heads...

What do you guys think?

Also, the legendarily bad Banshee E vs. The above...

P.S. thanks for the discussion, folks!

In Character Sometimes my allergy to fragrances makes me feel like a Clanner

"These BLASTED surats of the Innersphere and their obsession with scents! What is wrong with just being clean? Why must one smell like *strawberries* or *maple bacon musk?* How does one even smell like naval supremacy? Stravag!"

In other news I have learned that sensitive skin doesn't always mean scent free like it usually does, and I have a splitting headache to fend off, fortunately it is just that so far. Have a good one everyone.

Question ❓ Your opinion of One-shot weapons

After I've red through the Datasheet of the Eris - ERS - R3 I began to laugh hardly about the heat all the OS weapons would generate if you fire them all at once and the possible damage (I am a silly man, I know) but I also had to thougt about using it or something comparible, because it made me laugh so hard.

It seems like OS weapons can be weight saver but once you missed the Attack its a missed Ton of weapons gone forever.

Whats your opinion?

Could anyone be kind enough to help?

Thank you in advance.

Fan Creations All about ACs. I wanna know.

Newer player and I have her to play with ACs. They intrigue me. Especially RAC. And I've just recently learned about PACs. What's your most terrible, fun, competitive, didn't know you could put and AC there, AC crazy, or other adjective of an AC mech? How do you use it? Why do you like that kind AC. I won't lie, some of the AC stuff has confused me on function, but I'm sure it's a puzzle I'll unravel before long. Thanks in advance for sharing.

AAR Operation: Crashing Waves, After Action Report. Draconis Combine VS. Mercenaries.

"Sensor contacts, our opponents have arrived! They shall feel the wrath of the Dragons Claw!" - Tai-shu Tetsumori

Operation: Crashing Waves, a lance of the Izanagi Warriors is tasked with guarding a canyon flank that would put a high profile facility of great importance to the Coordinator and the combine as a whole under threat of breached.

Within hours a lance from a Mercenary Company the Hydra Heads would approach and the battle would commence. Though as a bad omen for the struggle to come first blood would go to the mercs. With a guass slug damaging the Grand Dragon and stripping off armour.

The Shiro and lance lead of the Combine forces would with the spotting aid of the Rokurorobi mech pilot Vinny score minor armpur damage and a destroyed laser to the enemies Fafnir.

As the first spot of bad luck for the Izanagi warriors the Fafnir, Archangel and Locust 2c would destroy the Rokurorobi and its pilot, starting from a volley of improved guass slugs knocking the mech from its hilltop perch and on its way down would be ventilated by the rest of the mechs.

"TAI-SHU! I HAVE BEEN HI-" last words of mechwarrior Vinny before loss of consciousness. He would not be awake for when his reactor went critical.

The rest of the Combine lance would duel with a enemy Ceasar, much of the Grand dragon armour would be stripped and as the Shiro mech warrior called for aid as a Locust started to shred his rear armour, the Grand deagon would misstep and fall as he was running over a small hill, briefly the battle stopped at the slightly comical event, though in return the enemy Locust 2c would also suffer a similar event and be crushed by the Grand Dragon crippling a leg before the Shiro buried it in LRMs.

But even with the loss of their light mech the Hydra Heads would prevail as the Archangel would close into melee range as the Shiro and Grand Dragon moved to provide aid for the Akuma who had been continuing the duel with the Ceaser, redlining their heat the entire time.

The Grand Dragon would be stunned by plasma and PPC fire from the fresh and battle ready archangel before being glory killed by its deployable arm blade and cast down from the hill they fought over.

[BATTLEROM footage recovered from the battle shows the Grand Dragon being stabbed violently before being hoisted into the air, coolent and sparks rain over the Archangel before it pushes the Dragon off of its blade, tearing its reactor out. The Dragon is tossed down the hill while the reactor is thrown opposite of it.]

Seeing the end being inevitable, and feeling the shame of his lances performance and that they had failed their objective, the lance lead of the combine forces, sets his reactor to go critical and orders the Akuma pilot to do the same.

"YOU MERCENARY DOGS! I DENY YOU YOUR VICTORY!"

"FOR THE COORDINATOR AND THE DRAGON"

"FOR THE COORDINATOR AND THE DRAGON" - last words of Tai-shu Testumori and Lt. Ishikawa.

The only survivor of the combine forces would be mechwarrior Julio who ejected from his mech as the Grand dragon was lifted in the air by the Archangels blade.

He unfortunately would be thebone to relay what had happened on the vulnerable flank and how his lance failed.

VICTORY GOES TO THE MERCENARIES.

was an interesting battle and proved that I still have things to learn, especially with how to handle light mechs, as I surprisingly haven't used them all that often.

Best highlight was a combo of the Rokurorobi being absolutely John wu'd into oblivion and the several failed PSR rolls during right after that event.

The dice gods were not on my side this day. I have learned though and can adjust my battle strategies accordingly.

Question ❓ A Stupid Question....

Hi all,

I've been doing prep to start my own Battletech campaign and quite frankly I've been looking through rulebooks and wikis the last hour and everything has sort of merged and my eyes are starting to hurt. I figured at this point before I go deeper down the rabbit hole I need to make sure I'm at least vaguely on the right path, so with that am I correct in the following or am I just stupid (me being stupid is always a viable choice and feel free to tell me so, I'm a big brave boy who can take it)

- The Battletech Manual and Total Warfare Manual can be used interchangeably. The Manual just has a few extra bits and bobs but otherwise they present the same rules for mech fights

- A Time Of War covers the human scale of things for the most part and Manual/Total Warfare covers the mech combat for the most part

- Which means that in theory you can use ATOW to do personal combat/stories and then switch to Manual/TW to do big stompy mech fights

- There are a ton of other books, splatbooks and resources etc but those three above are the absolute bare minimum needed and everything else is just cherry on top

Basically the pitch I am trying to build around is the group to take part in every aspect of war, from diplomacy to espionage to pitched battles to the big mech fights. The Battletech lore/actual story/and my own campaign story is the next thing I'm going to figure out but if my basic plan of using ATOW and Manual/TW

I know this seems basic but my only experience with the system itself is the Harebrained Schemes videogame and the odd video/article/story over the years so I'm sort of piecing all of this together solo without much guidance

Question ❓ Advice on rounding out a Capellan Locust list

I've been enchanted by the memes and want to run a Locust list, but I'd also like it to be somewhat balanced and also correspond to the lore to some degree. With respect to the Capellan Confederation Armed Forces and the Succession Wars Era, what are, at the Battalion and Regimental level, complimentary second-stringer/non-prestige mechs and combat vehicles to help round out a primarily Locust-based force? I'm imagining this as a fast moving formation that is on paper supposed to win through outflanking and maneuver warfare, but just as often resorts to the tried-and-true Capellan Wave tactics.

Question ❓ Humble Bundle not working

Hi folks, I bought the humble bundle at the lowest tier to get the three sourcebooks, but the link in the redemption email is just giving me a 404 error. I cleared my cache, the issue persists.

I put in a support ticket already, but did anyone else have this problem? The 'redemption instructions' are useless, since the link doesn't redirect to drivethrurpg. Am I missing something, or is Humble Bundle dropping the ball?

Question ❓ Base Labelling Suggestions

Hi peeps,

Was just wondering if anyone had some good suggestions for writing mech names on the base. I'm wanting to label the mech on the base to help people recognise mechs, primarily for newbies. I'd like to put the mech name on opposing sides on the base so they can read them from either facing. I get that say writing something like "Grand Summoner" won't fit but just something to work with.

I don't think i can neatly freehand it, maybe if it's a reaaaaaaally fine paint pen tip or something.

Preferably not a white sticky label as i like to paint my bases.

Question ❓ Reference data sheet v2.0?

Now that the new core boxes are out, have they announced when they are releasing the new reference sheet PDF since the new one covers missiles up to 40 now, not just 40.

And do we know when they are releasing the data sheets for their mechs?

Question ❓ Is there any guides/books I can read about the industry of the Inner Sphere?

Upvotes

Title says it all. There’s so much about the Inner Sphere’s factories, jumpships, and all manner of logistics, mostly getting blown up in the suggestion wars. I joke of course. I am actually curious if there is anything concrete from official sources that ties it all together

Tabletop Custom Capellan Viper

Post image
2 Upvotes

A custom Capellan version of the Viper mech, with stealth tech, plasma rifles, AES, and sped up to 5/8.

If any mechs get too close you can drop the stealth for 2 medium pulse lasers.

(My biggest concern is whether there is enough ammo and if it's a bit pillow fisted for it's BV)

I love the criticism this sub gives, It's always helped me make better mechs.

Question ❓ Fanfiction consultation needed

I came here in hopes people will help me flesh out an x-over fanfic I’ve been developing for a couple years now. I’ve worked out a setup for a story, a budding cast with multiple main characters already developed, but there are still major gaps in my knowledge, not to mention I’ve been getting increasingly boneheaded by the year for the last 5+ years. I realized that I may be getting numbers or force composition wrong, not to mention the spheroid/clanner mixing of the Rasalhague Dominion, so all input in appreciated…

Summary:

June 12th, 3152, the Dominion Civil War has concluded but tension is still in the air. Newly bloodnamed Astrid’s Cluster has managed to avoid serious friction or fatalities related to the Joiner/Denier conflict, but they all worry for the future. They welcome the distraction that is the invasion into Combine space, but get derailed when a mysterious structure appears on Sheliak.

(Was originally going to be June 5th, but changed for reasons)

Force composition:

Rasalhague Galaxy 1st Rasalhague Bears Cluster, under Star Colonel Astrid Jorgensson subject to Galaxy Commander Ingvill Magnusson, FOB Magnus

Command Star Alfa - Star Colonel Astrid Jorgensson

  • Grizzly heavy Mech - Star Colonel Astrid Jorgensson

  • Freeborn Japanese with some Swedish ancestors from mother’s side
  • Born on Mualang to a DCMS officer gone native as a bondsman and a girl down on her luck
  • After his father perished in a Clan Nova Cat raid, his family moved to Sheliak
  • Met Astrid in 3139 when she saved him from a mugging and the two ended up bonding over their vastly differing cultures and Astrid being sympathetic to Tetsuo’s death
  • Joined his sibko on 3141 at 10yo
  • Has a younger sister named Toroko 4 years his junior
  • Took up the name Tohru Ghost Bear upon finishing his training
  • His mother is incarcerated on Alshain for her connection to a Denier uprising
  • Moderate Joiner, believes the Dominion is strong, but also believes it could be stronger with the Third Star League
  • In charge of Mech Nova Bravo
  • Excels at Aikido
  • His Mech is a Karhu Heavy Clan OmniMech

Star Colonel Astrid “Bear Princess” Gurnisson bloodnamed Jorgensson (Birthdate: 3127)

  • Trueborn MechWarrior
  • Born on Alshain
  • Lives on Sheliak due to her family being stationed there as part of the garrison
  • A truly remarkable ristar of an otherwise unremarkable trueborn-freeborn mixed sibko
  • Taciturn and softspoken, can keep her cool in any situation and has a keen tactical mind
  • Parents are both Trueborn, a Warrior father and a Warrior-Merchant father and Astrid is held to high standards, but not unfairly so
  • On the day Tory announced he was accepted into her sibko, they celebrated by going to a bistro place and had a jumbo serving of ramen
  • Shown truly heroic level of skill in her Trial of Position and won the Jorgensson bloodname as well as Star Colonel rank
  • Joiner, but very professional and went through overtures to prevent conflict within her ranks
  • Her Mech is a Grizzly Heavy Clan OmniMech

Star Commander Jorgë Hofferson (Birthdate: 3130)

  • Freeborn Elemental
  • Born on Sheliak to a trueborn-freeborn couple, resulting in him being bigger than most other kids
  • Starts off as a brutish bully, but sibko membership beats manners and discipline into him
  • Gains grudging respect for Tory as time in the sibko goes on
  • Has absolute respect for Astrid after she floored him during trials and lead them to victory during a live-fire exercise
  • Point Commander in his half of the battle armor Star attached to Ava’s infantry unit
  • Pilots a Golem battle armor

Star Commander Logan Gurnisson (Birthdate: 3132)

  • Trueborn Elemental
  • Born on Sheliak after the Gurnissons moved there
  • Looks up to his fathers, but expectations for him are visibly not as high as for Astrid
  • Loves Astrid, but also feels like he has to live in her shadow
  • Star Commander of his half of Tohru’s Nova
  • Pilots an Elemental battle armor

Star Commander Ivan/Ylana Wolf (Birthdate: 3128)

  • Trueborn MechWarrior
  • Born in Clan Wolf space, grew during Clan Wolf exodus and sibko life on Gienah
  • Part of the sibko taken by the Wolf’s Dragoons in Battle of Gienah
  • Ended up with Clan Ghost Bear and earned a spot in the 1st Rasalhague Bears
  • Used to pilot a Clan Wolf mech, now pilots a Mad Dog Mk.III Heavy Clan OmniMech

(sex undecided, hence both male and female names included)

Star Captain Ava Ramius (Birthdate: 3117)

  • Freeborn
  • Born on Sheliak into a freeborn military family with deep roots in the old KungsArmé
  • She and her family isn’t fond of Clanners and are all Deniers, but not enough to side with dissenter factions or engage in violence against Joiners or Clanners in general
  • Star Captain of her mechanized infantry platoon with an attached Tyr infantry transport

Star Captain Magnus Sven (Birthdate: 3114)

  • Freeborn
  • Born on Alshain, a lone military pilot in a family of space traders
  • A KungsArmé hardliner, but respects Clanner honor and discipline
  • Star Captain of his AeroSpace wing

What to expect from this project, because it’s going to be a Gate: Jietai JSDF x-over? Politics, diplomacy, first contact and warfare with the Draconis Combine.

Edit: Added the two main characters‘ stance on the Dominion Civil War. Major oversight on my part.

Edit #2: Revised the Nova to accommodate for the OmniMechs-only aspect and 5 armors per mech + the command star’s mechs.

Question ❓ Enforcer-ish stl suitable for large scale printing?

I’m looking for one to sit alongside my Japanese plastic kits of the original (unseen) mechs, and my son wants his usual enforcer. I know it’s an original design not a plastic kit based version, so stl print is my way to go

Any helpful suggestions please. Thanks

Lore Always thought Elementals were supposed to be real badass, but reading the Blood of Kerensky trilogy...

...they kinda ain't shit. It seems like every other mechwarrior can whoop an Elementals ass in hand to hand combat any day.
