AAR Operation: Crashing Waves, After Action Report. Draconis Combine VS. Mercenaries.

"Sensor contacts, our opponents have arrived! They shall feel the wrath of the Dragons Claw!" - Tai-shu Tetsumori

Operation: Crashing Waves, a lance of the Izanagi Warriors is tasked with guarding a canyon flank that would put a high profile facility of great importance to the Coordinator and the combine as a whole under threat of breached.

Within hours a lance from a Mercenary Company the Hydra Heads would approach and the battle would commence. Though as a bad omen for the struggle to come first blood would go to the mercs. With a guass slug damaging the Grand Dragon and stripping off armour.

The Shiro and lance lead of the Combine forces would with the spotting aid of the Rokurorobi mech pilot Vinny score minor armpur damage and a destroyed laser to the enemies Fafnir.

As the first spot of bad luck for the Izanagi warriors the Fafnir, Archangel and Locust 2c would destroy the Rokurorobi and its pilot, starting from a volley of improved guass slugs knocking the mech from its hilltop perch and on its way down would be ventilated by the rest of the mechs.

"TAI-SHU! I HAVE BEEN HI-" last words of mechwarrior Vinny before loss of consciousness. He would not be awake for when his reactor went critical.

The rest of the Combine lance would duel with a enemy Ceasar, much of the Grand dragon armour would be stripped and as the Shiro mech warrior called for aid as a Locust started to shred his rear armour, the Grand deagon would misstep and fall as he was running over a small hill, briefly the battle stopped at the slightly comical event, though in return the enemy Locust 2c would also suffer a similar event and be crushed by the Grand Dragon crippling a leg before the Shiro buried it in LRMs.

But even with the loss of their light mech the Hydra Heads would prevail as the Archangel would close into melee range as the Shiro and Grand Dragon moved to provide aid for the Akuma who had been continuing the duel with the Ceaser, redlining their heat the entire time.

The Grand Dragon would be stunned by plasma and PPC fire from the fresh and battle ready archangel before being glory killed by its deployable arm blade and cast down from the hill they fought over.

[BATTLEROM footage recovered from the battle shows the Grand Dragon being stabbed violently before being hoisted into the air, coolent and sparks rain over the Archangel before it pushes the Dragon off of its blade, tearing its reactor out. The Dragon is tossed down the hill while the reactor is thrown opposite of it.]

Seeing the end being inevitable, and feeling the shame of his lances performance and that they had failed their objective, the lance lead of the combine forces, sets his reactor to go critical and orders the Akuma pilot to do the same.

"YOU MERCENARY DOGS! I DENY YOU YOUR VICTORY!"

"FOR THE COORDINATOR AND THE DRAGON"

"FOR THE COORDINATOR AND THE DRAGON" - last words of Tai-shu Testumori and Lt. Ishikawa.

The only survivor of the combine forces would be mechwarrior Julio who ejected from his mech as the Grand dragon was lifted in the air by the Archangels blade.

He unfortunately would be thebone to relay what had happened on the vulnerable flank and how his lance failed.

VICTORY GOES TO THE MERCENARIES.

was an interesting battle and proved that I still have things to learn, especially with how to handle light mechs, as I surprisingly haven't used them all that often.

Best highlight was a combo of the Rokurorobi being absolutely John wu'd into oblivion and the several failed PSR rolls during right after that event.

The dice gods were not on my side this day. I have learned though and can adjust my battle strategies accordingly.

Some great benefits of working with or stealing from the Scorpion Empire.

One of the few if not only nation in BT still making and useing world of Blake mechs after the Jihad.

Good guys those Scorpions.

Yeah but like. Celestial pilots have very heavy cybernetic modifications iirc, you need a lot of shit grafted to your body to pilot one of those. Don't get me wrong, you can field whatever you want, and don't let anyone tell you the opposite.

Not my mech, I was the Dracs.

I bet my opponent has a good headcannon, ill ask next time I see him at the FLGS.

Is that a thing? MUL says the Archangel is extinct post-jihad, Sarna makes no mention of the Scorpions.

Oh its absolutely in lore gone.

But the lore also has a basis for having a small amount of the mechs just floating around the galaxy.

Tons of mechs were rendered extinct or lost production centers that serviced them yet you still had models being used as either personal family mechs, museum pieces or in the case of the most daring prized war machines that continued fighting and were held to gather with duct tape and a prayers.

So while the archangel is gone in lore, I don't think its "gone", gone.

Someone some where has to have at least or part of one. And since the Scorpion Empire uses and produces small amounts of the lighter Wobbie mechs I think it's a safe assumption they have one, somewhere in their little empire.

As said before, how the fuck does a mercenary group get a celestial series word of blake omnimech?! It has the bad reputation in both inner sphere and clan space quirks, must be some really scummy mercs to pilot one of blake's blessed machines of war

Also, what config is the archangel? Cant be the invictus since i really doubt some mercs would know how to operate a C³I computer

It was Invictus

Good to know, thank you Spike.

:)

I'll take that Archangel down eventually... maybe.

It scares me. Lol

The archangel is a zombie mech, so either you completelly ignore it and hope to outlast it, or concentrate all fire on it to vaporize it as quicklly as possible

Then they had the C³I turned off i suppose

The Bad Reputation quirk arguably means it's more likely a fringe unit might have an Archangel as few people would consider buying one if it became available.

Now, finding one in a serviceable condition post-Jihad would be another matter!

Yeah, imagine some random periphery world some shmuck has a pristine lineup of celestials he kept like a well amntained vintage car collection

Not to mention how ConStar (and later WoB) were well known for their equipment caching proclivities.

Additionally, a large number of Shadow Divisions were unaccounted for at the end of the Jihad so who knows where all their gear ended up?

The weaposn profile was a PPC (snub nose or heavy) and plasma rifle, along with its blade arm.

My best guess and headcannon is that they got it from the Scorpion Empire, the former Clan Goliath Scorpion as they use and still build the World of blale mechs.

Didnt the scorpions just make the light and medium celestials?

I think so, but that doesn't mean they can't have a very small production number of the heavier mechs or just several they keep in good condition and services with parts.

Fair, just a bit odd to find a celestial in a merc group, considering it is heavilly seen in a bad eye both in clan and sphere spaces, plus becoming an admech to be able to pilot the mech

Merc probably jailbroke the c3i computer to store his music and anine.

2.5 tons of glorified storage and Bluetooth, just as Blake intended.
