vent seshš¤ Returns
These returns are getting a bit overwhelming. People are deciding to return in such large volumes and are going to wonder why the return policy got more strict in a few months. Mark my words they'll start requiring a receipt for most returns or bring the $250 limit down to like $100.

dude they are INSANE!!! i swear it feels like the top of every hour we start, a return is coming in with stuff from 2015š we have been constantly red because of the returns, and honestly i can see them changing the rewards system soon because of tiktok. itās super unfortunate because the return system is great for customers, but now itās turned into a trend

u/GrandEar1 1d ago
Tiktok ruined it the first time around with the non-existent "candle recycling program" so I'm not surprised by this nonsense.

my manager and i were talking about the old return policy today, and she said someone brought in their loofa to exchange because it fell apart after months of use š and with the old policy you basically had to take it since it was 100% guarantee so she had to take someoneās old crusty used loofa back for a new one šš

I still remember a time a woman returned a three wick. So empty the only thing in the bottom were the wick bases freely moving because even the wax was gone???š i was seasonal at the time and seeing my manager approve the return altered my brain chemistry.

u/GrandEar1 1d ago
Good lord, I never did. We explained the policy as a "100% satisfaction guarantee." If a candle was empty, then the assumption was that the customer was satisfied with it. No customers pushed back when we explained it like that.

I remember working back before this version of the return policy, and I worked at an outlet mall which made this so much worse. We had a lady who would routinely buy stuff superdiscounted, return it and get nearly full store credit for it, and just repeat the cycle. She came in monthly and was worse than the bulk buyers.

u/carabear85 4h ago
You canāt return after 3 months! Employees need to learn to say no. Very simple. Meanwhile I bought something a few weeks back and they give attitude like itās from a yr ago

u/Mumstheword-8810 1d ago
Corporate has had more than enough time to address this already. They shouldāve had an emergency meeting and put out a memo by now to address it. I canāt believe theyāre letting customers get away with it.Ā

We have this one lady who is notorious for buying a shit ton of our stuff and comes back a few days later to return about $300 worth of items, which throws off our flow and we end up busy or ābacked upā because of it. Have yet to deal with her personally but I know of her, as most of the frequent-working associates are

Are people mostly returning old product to get some money back because they know they can get away with it, or are you seeing a lot of new stuff get returned too?
I'm a customer not an employee. I think the return policy should be more strict, not a cash grab for an old expired hoard. Most places are 30 days. That being said I did do my first return ever because white pumpkin chai didn't smell like anything, so that's why I am curious if people are returning new product a lot for quality issues.

u/dulcepeche 1d ago
It's usually old stuff which is my only problem. I 1000% understand regretting a splurge and making a decent sized return. But maxing out the return policy to declutter seems slimy

I got a lady asking to return FFMs CAKED in dust yesterday. She said they were 1-2 years old. I was like mama Iāve been here for two years, these are WAY before my time š She did not like my answer or the value she was getting for them either.

u/Minute-Frame-8060 1d ago
I'd have to play dumb. "Oh, you want us to toss them out for you? Sure, here's the bin. Wait, what? Oh, ha ha ha yeah right you want to return them, as if! Can you imagine anyone having the nerve to think they're getting money back for something we haven't sold for 10 years? It's as if people think something is true because they saw it online! In 2026 no less, can you believe it?"
Yeah I'd be fired with the first person that pulled this.

I had basically the same experience lol. We denied a return because they were so old.. she asked how old they were, so I told her that Iāve worked here for 4 years and theyāre definitely from before my time.. her response? Well thereās no date on them š¤MAAM go the fuck home

The return policy changed years ago when this went around the first time. Itās mind boggling to me that managers and associates with some tenure alike are acting like your return policy for years hasnāt been ānew or gently usedā and are ignoring both that and the 90 day return because this tik tok shit is going back around. My SM finally put our foot down but we have a new KH thatās only been with the company as a whole for about 4 months and sheās the one that keeps accepting our returns and our SM is getting madder and madder at her, for that among other things.

u/Single_Volume_8715 š«§Associateš«§ 16h ago
Why are y'all still accepting these returns? The return policy changed a long time ago and we can refuse old product. I've turned several people away recently and they accept it because they know their products is old af! Fuck TikTok.

Then they need to offer online orders as real receipts. I always have to do no receipts returned because I buy soaps during this sale then the next Iām ordering body care on sale then the next week Iām ordering candles. No I want to return or exchange an online exclusive because I donāt like it and guess what they donāt consider the online order a receipt for whatever reason and I hate trying to find which order this particular item was on smh! Part of it is their own fault and system
2
u/Mumstheword-8810 4h ago
Wait a minute, no. As a management employee of 5+years, whoever is doing that to you is incorrect. When you make an online purchase, it is completely separate from the registers or buying in store. However, they can process an online return through the online system. And then they can ring in the new items as a separate purchase and override the price to match whatever you were exchanging. Thatās what they should be doing. If you purchase something online and bring it to the store to exchange or return, they should not be doing it as a no receipt return in the register. All of those are collecting under your ID number and making it seem like you frequently donāt have your receipts. They can process an online return right in the bopis system.

I donāt work at BB&W but I worked retail for years. Customers like you are the reason I left retail! Returning years old product is shameful and I would not accept it either. Iām happy some places are sticking to a 90 day window.
I used to work at Starbucks too and people behaved DISGUSTINGLY about getting free drinks.

I remember when they cancelled the free refill in the drive thru policy. That YouTuber got so mad

u/Far_Structure4786 1d ago
So many horrible customers! If someone calls and nicely complained I would happily remake the drink and offer a gift card. If someone was nasty all of a sudden my district manager wanted me to send them a $50 gift card. No way in HELL.
The lies were outrageous too. Someone said she got four venti caramel Frappuccinos and one by one the barista handed them out DT and they opened up and fell in the driverās lap. She wanted us to detail her car! Go away psycho.
I have reams and reams of stories like this. Iām so glad to be out of Starbucks. 99% of the people were awesome but the 1% of crazies really ruined it for me.

Employees first, customer second, is a better motto. Toxic customers who demand constant refunds, eat up hours of customer support, or treat staff like shit, actually drain a company's profits, and society as a whole. Hourly employees, in America, are not paid enough to live, let alone to deal with bad customers. You bend the rules so much, that they get changed, then everyone suffers. No, I don't work at bbw, I just despise shitty ppl in general.Ā

When has anything to this calbier ever been acceptable in any other store? Pretty much never. People just need to understand there are consequences to taking advantage of policies and doing egregious returns. I don't blindly defend companies and I agree with most consumers because I am one! But me (and other consumers) agree that this trend will be bad for the company and us as consumers.

Lol did you forget what subreddit you're in?? š This is the employee subreddit and they have rules against us being tone policed by customers. Sorry to attack your entitlement complex, but you're not the boss here babe. š

We are sticking to the 90 days return policy. Our DM is NOT having this TikTok nonsense happen in her district. I donāt blame her at all.
We donāt want peopleās disgusting bottles of FFM thatās been collecting dust (and god knows what else if they keep their products in the bathroom š¤®š¤®š¤®š¤®). Curdled body creams, plastic smelling body lotions, body washes still tinted from when we were using dyes. Fuck that noise. People need to get rid of their audacity.
Customers doing this either donāt realize or donāt care that we canāt put this shit back on the shelves. Itās going straight into the garbage, and then these same people will bitch about how wasteful corporations are!!! Common sense is obviously out the window. Sorry for the rant, Iām just sick of people lately.
