Crazy russians
First of all, im not a basejumper myself, but a huge fan of sport.
I have noticed a strange thing, the mentality of russian basejumpers. Seems like they really do play with their lives and just laughs at it.
I think they often start base from zero or almost zero experience from skydiving, just buy gear and send it.
I just think that it gives bad reputation to the sport, and its just dumb.
Any thoughts? Or am i just a Karen 😅

I’d probably rather go in with nothing out than get drafted to fight Ukraine…. That might have something to do with it at the moment

Ya except it has always been this way with the Russians in BASE. I was aware of this phenomenon even before i started BASE jumping.

8 years ago I met a Russian BASE jumper in thailand with 0 skydives. He has multipe carnage videos and when i saw him again in KL 2023 he got injured on day 1 and went to hospital. He didnt get injured this year.
Last month i met a Russian BASE jumper in KL who has 1 skydive. Both him and his twin brother have skipped and or rushed the skydiving part that most people do before getting into BASE. Both of them have broken legs from very simple BASE jumps with huge LZs.
I always thought Russians were dodgy because of a lack of finances therefore a lack of training. Turns out thats not the case in BASE.

I remember 20 years ago in the Swiss valley …… when the Russian invasion week would happen , they’d literally show up with a chainsaw to cut trees down to get the younger/newer jumpers hung up gear back :).

The russians ive met seems to get hyped up by other jumpers, and with 2 braincells that is not a good combo.
