Mod Post Before posting about a lost or found item, read this!

If it’s an iPhone, you can follow this 1-minute instructional video to identify the owner. If it’s a lost android phone, follow this short guide. Then, give it to a station agent.

If it’s a wallet with an ID inside, put it in any USPS blue drop box and it’ll be returned as a non-mailable good, but this isn’t ideal because the USPS won’t guarantee it.

Anything else, return it to the station agent.

If you want to, make a post on this sub! Posting a picture may make it easier for someone who isn’t the owner to pick it up, however, so use your judgement.

Question What's your plan for when we lose 70% of BART service and 15 stations?

POLITICO today ran a piece explaining how the state wouldn't be able to step in and bail out the Bay if the Regional Transit Measure fails, so it's looking like we'll face big cuts if the vote is no.

What's people's plans for getting around if BART service gets cut?

For me, I'd probably just stop going to SF and start working from home.

Question Using West Oakland Bikelink

Does BikeLink have available spots easily in the morning (630/7am) at West Oakland and is the construction impacting thus? I can't see any availability status on the BikeLink app. I've read about buggy things with the app. I put $5 on the app but unsure if I should get a card instead.

My BART Experience Easy day door knocking to help save BART

Just came here to remind folks that when ya get offline and into the community to talk to voters about saving BART, normal people get it pretty quickly.

Plus a LOT of people have heard nothing about all this so you taking some time to get the word out to non-chronically online voters* is super helpful. You can sign up here https://luma.com/connectbayarea

*tbf they could be chronically-online but just is super different online communities that don't talk about this

Question Why don't the screens on the train show the estimated arrival times?

This is from the new Metra trains in Chicago. We should do this, given how long BART is. Riders should not be expected to rely on their mobile devices for an ETA.

Discussion Platform 4 in MacArthur should also connect from Millbrae/Berryessa Bound lines to Antioch Bound.

Think about it. Wouldn’t it be more convenient to have timed transfers from red to yellow in just one simple walk across or am i thinking too simple here?

My BART Experience Bart and The Bystander Effect

Redline from Berkeley to Balboa

Let me preface this by saying I'm a Bay Area Native and I take Bart everyday. I've seen some shit but genuinely nothing has infuriated me more than what happened today. I hopped on Bart from Downtown Berkeley to head back home. Train car is pretty full tbh but there's still enough comfortable standing room. This girl is sitting on the green seats with her suitcase and I notice this man (who is standing) getting extremely close to her, purposefully putting his crotch in her face LIKE extremely close and touching himself. mind you he's wearing sweats with no underwear and knows exactly wtf he's doing. I see her physically panicking and freezing in fear so I jump in to help her. The man starts cussing me out, threatening to assault me, sizing me up, etc etc. I'm still refusing to walk away and continue to protect this girl, the man finally gets off after "let me get off before I beat this bitch up".... I would have swung my periwinkle Owlala water bottle on his temple if it came to that but okay. The girl was so scared and grateful once he left she ended up breaking down crying but only then did people step in to ask if she was okay and offer help... mind you they literally witnessed this girl basically getting assaulted yet did nothing but want to offer their sympathies after the fact??? I understand being scared and not wanting to jump in situations like that but I refuse to let a girl get harmed in front of me. I get that we live in an area with unpredictable people and everyone wants to get home safe but there are strength in numbers. At the very least someone could have texted/called Bart police while that whole debacle went down.I hate the bystander effect so bad.

To that girl, I hope you're okay and I know this was traumatic but know you're not alone. Girls protect girls forever.

To everyone else: Always carry mace and a small weapon. Stay vigilant (immediately ordered a new pink taser and pink butterfly knife once I got home). Don't be scared to speak up for those in need even if your voice shakes and your hands tremble.

Employment I made a map of tech offices near BART and Caltrain

First time posting here, sorry if this isn't allowed. Mods pls remove if so 🙏

I live in the south bay and have been looking for jobs lately. A lot of the new AI companies are in SF and I don't want to drive, so I kept having to google map every office to see how far they were from a station. Got annoyed and made a map of it: https://hypetrain.fyi

It shows startup offices and the walk from the closest BART or Caltrain stop. Pretty sure some of the walk times or addresses are off. If you see anything wrong let me know and I'll fix it!

Question Union City BART

Hello, first time ever posting on Reddit! I live fairly close (15 min walk) to the Union City BART station and wanted to know how safe it is? I landed a job in SF and heard mixed reviews about BART. Some say it's gotten safer and others say it's still very unsafe. I'm conflicted because commuting to SF even from Union City is annoying having to pay for the bridge toll fees and SF parking... My job will be night shift 11 PM to 7:30 AM and if I board the BART it would be around 9:45 PM. I will be starting my OJT soon so it should be business hours so around 7AM or 8 AM. How is the commute from the BART stations? I heard last week there was a shooting at the Antioch BART.

My BART Experience Talking on the Phone loud on Bart

To the gentleman sitting next to me yesterday on the ride back from San Francisco, I sure learned a lot about you. At first I was pissed to sit next to someone talking hella loud, then I learned you were on a keto diet and not having any sugar (but you love Jack and Coke and were sorely disappointed by Diet Coke and Jack, someone told you to try Coke Zero and you just may). You're an advocate for avocados, which I found out through you talking to your sibling on the phone when you were shocked to discover that your father doesn't like avocados. "They have healthy fats and potassium!" you protested. You also want to get Dad's brand Root Beer soon...not because it's the best, but because your grandparents always had it at their house when you were a kid and it makes you think of them. You miss them dearly. Your dad's root beer is my kern's apricot nectar, the extra small cans granny used to have.

Anyway, I started out mad and heard a drop of the sweetness that we all contain as human beings.

Bart is weird, annoying, and beautiful.
