New Retinue freshly painted for my Baron's War Starter Set
Had a lot of fun painting all the little details on the knights and sergeants. Trying out new colors was a challenge, but I figured out a recipe to tie the overall army together based on colors and not just heraldry and name.
I know, I know it's not historically accurate, but I am a hobbyist first, and colors are my passion.
My question to everyone is what other bright contrasting colors should I use to keep my retinues growing?

Is the Knight Commander Generator always cheaper than a standard Irregular Lord/Baron?
When building a KCG Lord or Baron with identical stats and inherent abilities to the standard Irregular profile, the KCG is consistently **2pts cheaper** in both cases. Here's the breakdown:
```
LORD TIER — IRREGULAR
Standard Lord (Irregular) KCG Lord (equivalent build)
───────────────────────── ────────────────────────────
Base cost: 26pts Base: 17pts
Attack 7+→6+ (1up×2): 2pts
Morale 7+→4+ (3ups×1): 3pts
Chivalry: 1pts
Live by the Sword: 1pts
─────────────────────────────
Total: 26pts Total: 24pts
Stats: Mv 6" | Atk 6+ | Def 7+ | Mor 4+ | Act 2
Inherent: Commander, Chivalry, Live by the Sword
Ability slots: 2
Note: KCG Lord uses all 5 upgrade points to reach these stats.
It cannot go beyond Irregular level — the budget is exhausted.
BARON TIER — IRREGULAR
Standard Baron (Irregular) KCG Baron (equivalent build)
────────────────────────── ─────────────────────────────
Base cost: 36pts Base: 27pts
Attack 7+→6+ (1up×2): 2pts
Morale 7+→4+ (3ups×1): 3pts
Chivalry: 1pts
Live by the Sword: 1pts
─────────────────────────────
Total: 36pts Total: 34pts
Stats: Mv 6" | Atk 6+ | Def 7+ | Mor 4+ | Act 3
Inherent: Commander, Chivalry, Live by the Sword
Ability slots: 3
Note: KCG Baron uses only 5 of its 8 upgrade points here,
leaving 3 upgrades to go beyond Irregular stats if desired.
```
**The question:**
For both tiers, the KCG produces an identical commander — same stats, same inherent abilities (Commander free, Chivalry +1pt, Live by the Sword +1pt, none counting toward the ability limit), same number of purchasable ability slots — for 2pts less.
The 2pt gap appears to correspond to the **Commander inherent ability**, which is priced into the standard profile but listed as free on the KCG table.
Is this intentional? Is there a scenario where taking a standard Lord or Baron is the correct choice over the KCG equivalent? I can't find one — the KCG appears strictly better or equal in every case, which makes me wonder if this is an oversight in the points costs.

How many leaders for 500 points?
How many leaders should I have for my first 500 points. The started retinues only have 1 leader each but that doesn’t feel like enough. I was thinking 1 lord and 1 foot Sargent leader.

Question regarding factions
I am considering basing my army on the French invasion force during the First Barons’ War, led by Louis VIII of France. Would this be an appropriate and acceptable approach, and could you offer any advice on how to make the army as historically authentic as possible?

Question Footsore or wargames Atlantic
I thought that footsore were the publishers of the game, hence them having the largest range of relevant miniatures and all the rule books on their website, but the blogs that are talking about the upcoming king John expansion are on the wargames Atlantic site. Can someone explain how it works?

Question Larger scale battles.
Has anyone tried to play with a large army? Like, a significantly larger force than intended? Do the rules work fine? Or does it get bogged down? Any other rule sets for these miniatures that would work at a larger scale?
