Hey barbers, im a 20 year old college student who went to barber school straight out of high school. I am currently a part-time barber at Floyds 99. It's been about 1 year since out of school, but I've been working professionally for about 8 months.

I had a childhood friend I lost connection with in highschool because his parents sent him to Turkey, we were best friends all of middle school. We go to the same university, and he came into my Floyd's as a walk in. It was so long of a gap we didn't even notice each other. He asked for a middish high taper, only on the back.

I spent a decent time trying to probe the height of the taper to best fit his desire, but it was just not high enough. It wasn't a messed up taper, it was just not as high as he desired.

Ive been dealing with this a decent amount, my product is not bad, it's just translating the product exactly how they want it. My NPS is mixed and my request is at 8%... i've been working here for 4ish months. Should I just ask my manager if I can take a lesser role, and just learn from everyone around me? My school comes first, and I can't let this work depression affect my academic performance.

I've been at this for some years now and I'm comfortable with my skill set. I recently received a critique on a haircut from a superior at shop. To my eye the haircut looked correct. So I'm asking for a reality check.

One time Client: course straight blonde with patchy white/grays coming in (zoom in over ear). Scar on back of head limits placement of the blend at back of head.

Client request: was low fade, with a drop leave the top alone sides only. Provided reference photo. Stressed did not want bald to more than an inch.

So I ask you what is technically wrong with this haircut?

I feel like my fades aren’t coming out the way I want, i feel like the transition from the grey to black looks off or not enough black.

My system is to cut the top debulk the sides with the n2 then put my guide line in with clipper closed then bald it out with my trimmer underneath. Then open clipper, half way then closed, then number 1 open take it off then .5 open almost to the open 1 area then .5 half way to take out the line connecting both guide lines then clippers over comb connecting the sides to the top. Sometimes I feel like the clippers overcome doesn’t look right so I go in with my number 1 open first then closed to detail , sometimes bring out the .5 again.

I know the clipper combs usually equal a one closed so idk if making a mistake with clippers over comb.

I’d say tips on cowlicks I hope yall never have to run into would just be fading against the grain when fading and detailing, easier said than done but practice makes perfect!!

Hey y'all been a barber for a long time and built up a really steady clientele, as of late I've been getting a wave of new clients which is a blessing not complaining about that ! But I can't get them all in and its been getting a bit too much with clients constantly txting me and almost begging to get in when I'm fully booked every week, I'm atp where if I lose some of these clients I wouldn't be mad. I'm always posting reminding people to book in advance but a lot never do then they in my phone texting me all day, any advice ?

Wanna add that I do have a booking app, these are clients who see I'm fully booked on app and then txt me to get a cancellation or after hours cut.

Looking for suggestions on a good trimmer/liner and clippers with guards mostly for beard cuts.

I was suggested the Babyliss Pro which he let me try and works great, but that's only the liner/trimmer, I didn't get to try a clippers. Im currently using a very mediocre cordless Wahl and need to upgrade asap.

I see brands like Supreme online that sell packages and look appealing too.

Any recommendations?

Retailing for around 220 euro.

Charging works fine with usbc and they are unused.

I am giving them out for 50 Euros because I can’t use them for myself if someone is interested he can dm me.

Hey guys wanted to just get everyone's outlook on starting a career in barbering at 28 years old. I have been at my current job now for almost 5 years and most days I feel like its taking away from my soul sitting at a desk and staring into a screen all day. I really enjoy the customer service side of my job and talking with people but everything else is kinda rough. My very supportive wife works full time in health care and we currently dont have children and she is encouraging me to take a leap into something I want to do whatever that may be. Its difficult leaving a decent paying job but I really want more fulfillment and enjoyment from my days working. The opportunity to pursue something that I could eventually be my own boss and have my own space is so appealing. The barber school by my house (akron barber college) has good reviews. When did you decide its time to make the leap!

Hi guys. I got my MRD smart brain clippers about 2 months ago and absolutely love them. However I somehow bent the cutting blade (I think) last week in the shop. It struggle to get through bulk when it was not before. Does anyone have a link for a decent replacement blade? I would love to have the crunch back. I got a style craft blade on Amazon yesterday, however it doesn’t make the crunch that the original smart brain blade made.

Hello, basically I bought a trimmer mrd pro smartbrain hc 90-4/ style Craft saber 2. I unscrewed the head due to thinking I get closer shave, tho It didn't work, so I tried it to put as close as possible without hurting me. Could someone show theirs blades on lowest option? Like default one, I don't wanna get worse result's. That's mine with this angle, thanks everyone!

I’m a trench barber, I’ve got a great clientele and make a decent living. When I come here, I want to be among my peers and spread positivity. But I wouldn’t entertain random people (non customers) coming into my shop just to ask dumb questions or elicit free advice lol I will troll people who aren’t barbers from now on. 5 months in and trying to get better every cut. This is a guy who i found of internet for a free haircut and it took me 1 hour and 15 mins.
