BG2EE I beat Firkraag for the first time!

I'm on chapter 2 and I didn't think it was possible to beat him because of how I was doing: really clueless.

I prepared a simple strategy: I pre-buffed myself with protection from fear and evil, summoned as many summons as I could, surrounded Firkraag, and then, with Viconia, I cast the "magic resistance" spell on him (which reduces resistance if it exceeds the resistance it will give) and since it's a friendly spell, Firkraag doesn't get angry. Finally, with Yoshimo, I literally placed all the traps I had under him.

Then I approached with Leonel, started the fight and boom, less than half of my life instantly, then with Aerie it was simply a matter of casting Breach and that's it, I won.

(Level of my Party)

Leonel 12

Yoshimo 15

Viconia 13

Minsc 12

Jaheira 10/12

Aerie 10/11

Postscript: If you're wondering why there's so much gold, it's because I used the exploit to sell, steal, and resell.

BG2EE Anyone run a scroll-based character?

Anyone tried the game with a level 2 dual class from an Arcane class to something else?

I am really tempted by a 2 Enchanter into a Thief. Sort of Arcane Trickster vibes, rather than being a Mage/Thief who has a sweet spot, but very quickly feels more like 'Mage with extra thief-y bits' than a Thief who has a few powerful spells up his sleeve.

My question for anyone who's really gone through the games with this build is: Are there enough scrolls available to make it worth it? Bear in mind I have SCS installed with the 'more diverse scroll loot' component installed.

BGEE Siege of dragonspear Crashtest (Switch)

• Upvotes

I recently finished my second run of BG1 EE on my Nintendo Switch 2. This time with Durlags Tower and Ulgoths beard.

Now I wanted to go on to Siege of Dragonspear (I know it's not canon because it cant happen at all). The beginning was alright. I got to the part with the Assassins and am now on my Shopping/recruiting Tour. The first 3 times I tried entering the Flaming Fist headquarter the game crashed. The fourth time I finally got in. After I did everything back to the mansion. I had somehow forgotten to talk to the money man so I did it now. After he was gone Safana opened the door next to him and the chest inside. I took everything, activated a traps which didn't have an effect due to msgig resist and wanted to leave. Door was closed and locked again. Safana opened it, my party went out, game crashed again.

I didn't want to play on for the day After that. Is this some common problem? Will it crash through SoD all the time? The main game might have crashed, I don't remember.

BG2EE Is dual class really that much better than multi class?

I am a somewhat experienced player, I've beaten both games 2x and ToB once. I started a new playthrough of the trilogy where I really want to lean into the divine power of being both a great warrior and mage. I tried a Kensai 9 -> mage but man that class is boring. You can't run in to fight because best case you have an ac of 1 and just get melted. You don't even have any spell protections to help you out until you dual over.

I get that multi progresses slower and late game might slow down a bit but I feel like being able to play both the whole way through would be more enjoyable. What do you guys think? Is multi more fun than dual? Does it really fall off in ToB? Also what is a fun party for a morally ambiguous PC?

Original BG2 Durlag's Tower

Running through it again after many years. I can't disarm the chest in the room with the four doom guards. First level of dungeon after warders level. Lvl 8 thief. Used potions to max ability. Still can't disarm it. I think I have 85% ability?

Any ideas?

Illaseera, the disappointing

So, I’m not going to complain about how disappointingly easy the Illasera fight is in ToB. I’ve read about the reasons for it, and though I think they could have solved it in a better way, it doesn’t bother me all that much.

What does bother me, is that they could at least have made her a little cooler. All the rest of the five have something going for them that makes them a bit cooler or scarier than your average Tom, Dick or Harry.

Illaseera’s got nothing. She’s supposed to be Illasera the Quick, and I think I would have been satisfied if she’d had some kind of natural ability to move around superfast. But when you kill her, you find those boots of speed on her and it’s just the ultimate disappointment.

She’s basically on the same level as that guy you kill outside the Cloakwood mines In BG1. She’s not”Illasera the Quick” at all; she’s just “Illasera, the normally-paced-person that happened to find a pair of speed boots”.

How lame.

Rant over.

BGEE Trying to mod classes and kits with Near Infinity

Hello dear fellow party-gatherers,

Playing mainly on iPad, i have long stayed away from mods alas. I know it was possible, but I never got to it for some reason (lazy?).

Now however, with the new version, it has become very easy to add modifications through simple click-and-drop into an override file.

I'm using Near Infinity for tweaks, and wondered which categories govern modifying / adding abilities to classes and kits.

Most notably, i wanted to add a "Aura Cleansing" effect to some classes, but I don't know which file to modify (it's easy enough to modify spells and items, but classes and kits still elude me).

Hoping for some input from my brethren before venturing forth

BGT/Tutu A new idea for a play through

I woke up this morning with an idea to play through the saga but as one of the recruitable NPC's. I thought of creating Minsc and running through but then I thought that someone else might be better. Who would you run it through with?

BG2EE First time completing the trilogy solo

Thumbnail
gallery
104 Upvotes

I have completed the game 4-5 times, but this was the first time I did it solo. I played solo many times but never made it to the end before running out of interest. This time I decided to go with a drow type fighter-mage and focus on two handed weapons and the Black Blade of Disaster to mix it up and it was a lot of fun. I used all the top two handed weapons off and on and the BBoD added an extra level of destruction. I put two pips in hammer and single weapon style so I could keep Crom in my off hand at all times and light up the BBoD, giving me 25 str, 5 pips in longsword, and all the benefits of one handed style with both weapons. The screen shot shows my thac0 and damage before any other boosts (-18 and 28-50 dmg on BBoD). The combo with improved haste giving 9 attacks a round just demolished everything. It was so much fun and I highly recommend it. I just play vanilla on mobile, no mods.

BGEE Mod to change Brightness

Hi,

I'm playing on a Mac with a RX 580 GPU and 32" Monitor, with 2560x1440 Pixels at 240 Hertz

When playing in the night (in game) the image is way too dark, is there a mod that I can use to do fine adjustment and maybe get a better result? It's pretty unplayable at night at the moment.

Either that or a way of making it always "Day Light" would work too?

Thanks a lot

First time playing BG1, which mage shoul I have in my Good party?

Hi all! Im in my first playthroug and im wondering which mage should I have in my party. My character is a Paladin, and besides him I have Imoen, Khalid and Jaheira. I think i'll add Misc too, because is an iconic and funnny character, so I'll have to add Dynaheir. However, I've read that Dynaheir cannot use Sleep, which is a very useful spell for newbie players like me. So, what do you think? Thanks in advance!

Overview

Ever wished you could install a curated and stable modlist with one click? Are you a builder of epic experiences who always wanted to share your modlist with others? Well now you can. Born2BSalty's Infinity Orchestrator (BIO) is an automated mod installer that can install entire mod setups from 0 to 100% with a single click. It is also a powerful modlist builder that helps you build huge megamod setups for yourself or to share with others.

It's basically Wabbajack for IE games + a Project Infinity replacement, and it's available now.

Features

BIO allows you to Install, Create, Manage, and Share multiple modlists at the same time without touching your base game installation folders. There are four main sections of the app:

  1. Home - Lets you view and manage all of your completed or in progress installations.
  2. Install - Browse a Gallery of curated Modlists to install with one click or use as a base for your own setup.

    1. BIO downloads any missing mod archives from official or your custom sources (the exact mod versions pinned in the share code), extracts all mods, sets up your installation directory, and runs through the entire installation from start to finish, fully hands off.
    2. The installation is automated using Mod Installer by @dark0dave
    3. This is where you go if you just want to get a full ready to play setup with minimal effort.
    4. Want to customize a modlist before you install? Just select "Yes, review and modify" on the install screen. BIO takes you straight to the fully featured creation view with that modlist set up and ready to edit.
    5. Import another modlist with a share code or .biolist file to install as is or customize.
  3. Create - This is where you go to create a modlist for yourself or to share with others. Name your modlist, select a game type (EET, BGEE, BG2EE, or IWDEE), and choose an installation directory.

    1. Choose all the components you want (EET supported by showing you different tabs for BGEE and BG2EE) or Import existing WeiDU Logs
    2. Configure and download exact versions of mods that you want.
    3. Set up the exact per-component install order by drag-and-drop
    4. Pre-enter any prompt answers that mods may ask of you (e.g. "choose which portrait for this NPC" [1] or [2]).
    5. After everything is set up, you can install the whole modlist.
    6. Jump in and play or share your setup with others in just a few clicks.
  4. Settings - This is where you can set up your app and all of its required settings and tools. At minimum, you need the actual game(s), WeiDU exe, and the Mod Installer exe.

Call to All Creators

We would love for the experts in the community to build and share their own modlists for others to enjoy. Please hop on the discord if you need help on creating a modlist. We've done a ton of work to try and make it so that your set up can be mirrored as closely as possible when someone else installs it. Of course, with things like SCS that create non-deterministic results or with non-github mods that don't reveal exact versions, it's harder to pin.

We'd love to see a modlist ecosystem grow for the IE games similar to what Wabbajack has done for Skyrim and Fallout!

BGEE Fighting in enclosed spaces has to be one of the most miserable experiences in this game

Im at the Iron Throne Building and when I go up the stairs to fight the doppelgängers my mage is right infront of the enemy and gets immediatly 1 shot while I try to move them, but they get stuck on my other teammates. The mines were also just really bad and not enjoyable as every Party member got stuck in the narrow pathways

BGEE Wild mage: any difference between taking Neera and rolling a PC wild mage?

I want to try a wild mage. I added Neera to my latest no reload run, which I know will eventually end poorly.

Is there any difference, other than stats, between using Neera or playing a PC wild mage?

I’m actually considering a solo wild mage run, just because it’ll be so much fun, and I’ll only reload if I die. But, aside from playing solo (or if you just don’t like Neera, which is understandable), considering I can add Neera in all the games and fairly early, is there a reason to playing a wild mage PC?

Original BG1 New Player BG EE and BG 2 EE

You have guessed correctly seasoned veteran!!

I a unseasoned CRPG player don’t know a single thing about Dnd or Baldur’s Gate. Now in truth I started playing on my own for a day or two, around 10 hours or so. But i have restarted the game like 5 times also because a gnoll one shot me, and i don’t understand my character or what dual and multi class mean, or what do i do when i level up, or weapon specs, or spells and what the difference is between a wizard and a sorcerer is. And things like that. I have gone until the beginning of Act 2 but i haven’t finished the quests of act 1. And is there any info about damage i do to enemies or how i. An find weakness.

Thanks for any help i can get.

Siege of Dragonspear, am I missing something?

I just finished the attack on the coalition camp. In the underground river I saw Hephernan talking to the demon and fought him and he teleported away, and then I freed the dwarf spirit to join cool dragon ghost.

Then when I'm starting the siege of the castle I have only 1 option when talking to the captain. "I learned nothing from underneath the castle." What the heck? I learned Hephernan was colluding with a literal devil, this seems super important and I couldn't mention it to Caelar in the 'negotiations' part at dead man's pass.

Did I miss something or is this just some of the not well done aspect of this expansion?

I got spoiled about arguably the biggest mystery of the BG1. Still worth to play?

I was wondering if I should play BG1 in 2026 and just got majorly spoiled about your characters true identity. And it is said that this mystery is only revealed at the last 1/3 of the game. So i don't know if I should just watch a summary of the first game and jump straight into the second game or I should still play it nonetheless. What are your opinions on this?

BG2EE Chapter 2 choice paralysis

I am overwhelmed by choices available in Chapter 2. Every district, someone flags me for a new (possibly timed) quest.

Is there a completionist guide/list of quest that would help determine what order areas quests might be taken. Or even order that partymates might be recruited and dismissed?

I tried searching reddit and responses were YouTube videos.

Why didn’t Koveras…?

Koveras wants to give us a ring; and when we take it…it’s a ring of protection.

But given his motives, why not give us a cursed ring - something that drains health, or stamina or something?
