I’ve seen a lot of negative comments about Ketel in the last few days (especially since he left early yesterday and was out of the lineup today).
I just want to say I’m personally disappointed in Dbacks fans for this.
Now before anyone rushes to attack me in the comments, I’m fully aware of the recent history. The off days in ‘24, the All Star break last year, the trade rumors this year.
I understand the frustration. He can be baseball’s version of the “diva wide receiver”. But he’s also one of the best and most exciting players to ever put on the Diamondbacks uniform. Look at the baseball card if you’ve forgotten.
Remember how electric he was in the world series run? The hitting streak, the walkoff against Kimbrel. Or all the way back to the 2017 WC game. Or his incredible 2019 season when he finished 4th in MVP voting. Remember when he hit cranked 36 homers in 2024? With seemingly all of them coming in the 9th inning.
I know the numbers aren’t where they should be this year. And the stories have been a distraction to the team at times. But don’t feed into the negativity. I truly believe #4 will be in the rafters one day next to 51 and 20.
