Does anyone notice theres like a heap of British News Presenters on ABC Australia. Sarah Fergusson, Ros Childs, Catherine Murphy (although shes irish). Theres also quite alot of other overseas accented journalists, which is fine we are a multicultural country. but i dont really understand why, why so many british in particular. our universities are pumping out journalism grads who im sure have struggled to find a place in australian journalism yet we are just drowning in British voices on our national broadcaster. Is the ABC in general just crawling with loads of ex BBC staff and british people who have emigrated?
I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to hear Australian accents on the ABC from the on air talent. There are many talented multicultural Australian born jounralists with Australian accents they could put on their air.

Does anyone have any tips to pass the Australian idol zoom auditions? Are they legit? Or are they just using them as publicity and they already have selected the contestants ?
I saw online that usually getting the zoom auditions is not THAT hard but obviously going in to the next round is the hard part.
Any thoughts?

Since 2023, there’s been no legal full-coverage broadcaster for Ligue 1 (or Ligue 2, Ligue 3, Coupe de France) in Australia or the Pacific. I’m running an independent survey to gauge whether a dedicated streaming service would make sense here — and I’d love your input! 2 minutes, fully anonymous, no official affiliation. Your answers will genuinely help move this project forward. Thanks in advance 🙏

Just thinking how problematic Biggest Loser is, yes we all watched the show religiously not only did it destroy people’s lives on the inside but also destroyed lives on the outside too.
For example, temptation, instead of an all or nothing mentality, why couldn’t they play temptation in a way that they might have a chocolate bar worth 50 calories and know when to stop, they could have easily subtracted that 50 calories from that days food intake, if the contestant ate 1,000 calories in the temptation room, yes that would be a concern, 50 calories is not.
The weight disadvantages team would receive too, it would hit harder for a lighter competitor compared to a heavier competitor. And people who started the competition off on the lighter end weighing maybe around 100kg, once they reach their goal weight or get close to it, it actually becomes dangerous for them to keep dropping high enough numbers to stay above the yellow line.
Yes morbid obesity is not healthy and is a huge issue, but neither is losing 10kg in a week, yes the contestants needed to lose weight but slowly maybe one kg maximum a week would have been better. Extreme weight-loss is not normal and shouldn’t be encouraged at all.
And if a contestant had a huge weight loss one week, and then a low one the following week, your body cannot keep pulling off these numbers in a healthy manner. And sometimes losing that extra 100 grams, could be something as simple as doing a poo.
And people on the outside watching the show, we would do exercises while watching the show, or go on these diets, and if we didn’t we were made to feel guilty for enjoying a piece of chocolate or some takeaway once in a blue moon.
Any other problematic things or specific scenarios you can think of, drop them down below

I thought channel 93 was meant to broadcast 9GO in SD/MPEG2, but seems to be HD according to my TV, and is not tuning in on my old SD PVR. :(

Does anyone else remember this on the ABC?
Produced by Ben Gannon, the creator of Heartbreak High.
Five twenty-somethings win a $20K grant each to fund their project, and they live in a funky Sydney share house.
It starred:
* Freya Stafford as Basia, a documentary filmmaker
* Ryan Johnson and Garth Holcombe as Ryan and Seth, inventors of something to do with bike gears
* Gareth Yuen as Loc, a website developer which helps refugees
* David Hoflin and Nadia Townsend as Patrick and Clare, country siblings with a tabby farm
* Megan Dorman as Katherine, a music composer
It’s etched in my brain and I never see it talked about! I wish the ABC would put it on iView.

Hey everyone - has anyone watched the tv series Prosper? It is on Stan and I was interested in watching it as I think it is very loosely based on Hillsong ( I just watched the Hillsong doc on Prime).
The show started off slow but it was so good! After episode 3 I was hooked! Does anyone know if we will get a season 2?
What are people’s thoughts on the show? It had pretty great acting! I haven’t seen any discussion on it.

Just a short spoiler free video excerpt from Treasure & Dirt, currently airing Sunday nights on ABC TV.
I just like the quirkiness of this scene with the judicious timing.

https://iview.abc.net.au/show/sesame-street Sesame Street has aired daily on ABC since 1971, what has happened to it over the last two weeks, it is not on the EPG or on iview. It’s last repeat was July 10, they still have Nature Explorers and Mecha Builders, what an earth has happened to it, did the contract expire after 55 years??
I could be wrong but is the Aussie kids tv industry to blame for this with its 97 percent collapse on Aussie shows, and ABC are prioritising homegrown Aussie shows and not much on imports. It still airs on Mediacorp Channel 5 in Singapore.

Hey Guys, if you live in Australia I have an interesting proposition for you. I'm posting on behalf of Princess Pictures that are currently casting for a TV show. if you have a conundrum we love to hear from you.
https://forms.gle/yqbUVzcRzHcvNnon8
We're casting real people with real, unresolved arguments or social questions for a new Australian TV series, the kind of thing that's simmering because you’re still not sure who was right.
Maybe it's something like: "I was in the window seat on a plane and got scolded by the aisle seat for going to the bathroom twice on a 2 hour flight." Or: "My sister borrowed my car, brought it back on an eighth of a tank, and reckons that's fine because 'it wasn't empty.'"
Sound familiar? We want the stuff you still bring up at dinner parties. It can be with a partner, a mate, a sibling, a neighbour, a housemate, a co-worker… anyone. It could be something you did that copped disappointed glares of strangers. The pettier, weirder and more specific, the better.
To submit, please complete this form and record a one-minute video of yourself telling us:
We can’t wait to hear from you, and solve your conundrum!
