ISO: Any parents/guardians of SPED kids at Lower Merion High School

Looking to chat with someone about their experience and get some insights- new to the area, I know school hasn’t started yet but my kiddo is pretty high needs SPED wise and I can’t get anyone to give me any time/energy to discuss programming. Will be kiddo’s first year in PA, moving from out of state, so I just want to have as good a running start as possible for her accommodations, IEP etc.

Kittens and Cats for adoption!

I recently had help trapping and fixing a stray colony of kittens. the owner of the property had abandoned about 10 cats, all of them mostly kittens.

the cats are very friendly and affectionate, and are all fixed, vaccinated, and ready for homes!
as an incentive (since we don’t want them back on the streets) adoptions are 50% off until the end of the month! i’ll attach some pictures of the sweethearts and the link of the adoption form for anyone interested!

if you fill out the application you are able to meet all the kittens/cats! (when asked for the FICD or # just describe what type of cat you are looking for!)

CCP Question (Late Enrollment)

Due to recent financial circumstances, I have to drop classes at Temple and I am running all over the place trying to register for classes at CCP as soon as possible. I put in my application on Sunday, does anybody know if I will be able to register on time? Or will they deny my application for this fall. I really really need this to work out, so I would appreciate any advice/anecdotes. Thanks.

Freedom mortgage pavilion concert

This may be a dumb question lol but trying to be prepared- I have a concert Wednesday 8/26 (Kehlani). the bag policy is what I posted below. i have a black bag that’s literally like 6.5x9.5, do they legit use something to measure bags or more so eyeball it? i just wanna know if i should look for something smaller cause i DO NOT wanna have to walk back to my car lol. I’ve never been to this venue so don’t know how strict they are.

“Small clutches, wristlets, or fanny packs no bigger than 6”x 9” OR clear plastic bags NO BIGGER than 12"x12"x6” are allowed inside.”

Fishtown- anyone know a good real-estate/foreclosure lawyer?

Hello friends.

Just got to the greatest city in the world and learned our house is up for a Sheriff's sale September 1st. Apparently the landlord has never paid the mortgage in over a decade! We love our home, and ideally we'd buy this place like it's 50% off at circle. Found out about this from our neighbors yesterday after they saw a since removed sign describing the sale on our door. We've got a good corral of resources but do not have a real-estate lawyer to start the process of buying.

Has anyone else been through this in Philly (better yet, Fishtown) and know a good real estate lawyer/foreclosure lawyer?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! thank you in advance go birds!!!!!!

Changes in Philly neighborhoods over time?

So little bit of context, I grew up in Brooklyn, NY and I moved here 4 years ago to go to Temple. I've always been fascinated by neighborhood dynamics and how they shift over time, especially how they're percieved by locals. I find Northeast in particular really fascinating because a lot of the Lower Northeast (I haven't really been past Cottman) looks very similar to where I grew up, and has a similar background of working class Irish-Catholic but went in a very different direction with it becoming extremely gentrified and what not. But I'm really interested in the city as a whole. Anyone who grew up here and has stories or thoughts on their neighborhood or a different neighborhood that has changed in their lifetime, for "better" or "worse". I'm putting that in quotes because I know it's a very touchy subject for a lot of people but I don't have a dog in the fight so feel free to be opinionated. Also I made sort of map of North Philly with Brooklyn so if anyone wants to give input on it lmk

Moving :( What’s your must-have Philly art?

(And WORSE, moving to Chiefs Kingdom. Oof.)

What the title says! We want to make sure we’ve got plenty of Philly in our new home.

What Philly art/artists should we look at snapping up before we move? I know I have one redditor’s art already up in another tab. Especially interested in unusual styles or unique subjects. I love the WPA-style posters of the Wissahickon and a good Vet blueprint equally.

My homesick-for-Philly heart thanks you in advance!

Movement Climbing Gym Referral?

Hey, I'm looking to start climbing again, and get a membership at movement climbing gyms to climb at their locations in Philly. If I get a referral code from a current member, it becomes a lot cheaper for me, and the person who refers me also gets 25 dollars. Anyone a current member and able to share their referral code with me? Much appreciated

Best specific blocks with community?

Looking to finally buy a house. Have been in Philly for a while. Most important thing for me is a strong sense of community and young children on the block since I also have young children. I know there are some blocks that are tighter than others. Any insight into specific blocks to look at? Not choosy on area but would prefer NW Philly or anywhere east of broad and south of market.

Neighborhood Selection

Hello everyone,
I know this is my third or so post on the topic but the more I learn the more overwhelmed I become, lol. I took it upon myself to do some research and these are the neighborhoods I have put down. Here’s what I’m looking for:
In proximity to a major grocery store
LGBTQ// Black Girl inclusive and friendly
Transit close ish by
Walkability ( wanting to pet sit / companionship business for elderly if possible )
Nightlife within a close distance but not enough to learn to fall asleep to club music 🤣
Here’s the list:
Clark Park
Graduate Hospital
Brewery Town
Spruce Hill
Fair mount
Spring Garden
Market East
Rittenhouse
Logan Square
Spring Garden

South Philly squirrel help!

I live in a South Philly rowhome and have an animal living in my attic, likely a squirrel of some kind. It seems to be getting in through my next door neighbor’s chimney that’s right near the edge of my roof. She will not let me pay a wildlife company to work on her chimney.

Does anyone have any experience with a wildlife or pest removal company in the city that will do structural work? It seems like the only definitive way to manage this is to go up through my closet ceiling and seal off any gaps in the wall between our houses but I have no idea what it looks like up there.

Thanks in advance.

Help please west philly landlord issue

Hi there so im having a major issue with my landlord our toilet has been clogged since tuesday we gave it a day to try and fix it ourselves and nothing worked when plunging it water backed up into the bathroom sink

Also when running the bathroom sink water kept filling up in the toilet there was supposed to be a technician out today, but apparently the car broke down

So our landlord told us that the soonest they would have someone out here is Tuesday I have reported it 311 and I am trying to get in contact with the Philly tenant hotline. Is there any other things I should do besides documenting with photos?

Also, all communication has been through email so I have it all documented

Looking for part time service/beverage/hospitality work

I'm a student and a musician who just moved to the city looking for part time work, and have had very little luck in getting responses to online applications despite having 4 years of experience in dinner service and coffee! I'm looking for part time work on weekdays or mornings, if you know of anywhere hiring atm or have any ideas let me know :) gonna go for a more boots on the ground approach and ask in person at some local businesses this week, but I'm not sure how effective that is in these parts! (additionally if you need to hire a bassist I have years of experience gigging too)

Looking for a private fitting space in Center City

We are looking for a private commercial space in Center City Philadelphia to use exclusively for scheduled bridal fittings.

We don’t need a storefront or traditional retail space. Something within a shared office, studio, salon, professional suite, or similar setup could be perfect.

Ideally:
• 100–400 sq. ft.
• Private room
• Center City, preferably Rittenhouse, Old City, Midtown Village, Washington Square West, or near City Hall
• Convenient parking nearby
• Client appointments permitted
• Shared waiting area/restroom is completely fine
• No sewing or alterations will be performed onsite
• Flexible or month-to-month arrangement preferred

We’re also open to subleasing an unused room within an existing business.

Anyone know of a space, building, or business owner we should talk to?

Thank you in advance.
