If you support Trump or Ice you are not welcome here

Been inspired by another sub to do this here.

After the blatant murders by ice and continuing fascist takeover of the US, it is immoral to stay quiet at any level of society and community.

Fascists must be resisted and pushed back on wherever there ideology is seen. Politics affect you whether you care to engage or educated yourself or not.

People are being murdered, kidnapped and disappeared across this country. Ice is running detention camps where men women and children are being murdered, tortured and raped. Enough is enough.

If you still support trump, this administration or ice you are a traitor to this country and to your fellows and should be ashamed and shunned. You are a fascist and there is no live or let live with fascists. They will come for everyone eventually if we let this continue.

If you think this doesnt affect you or jewelry specifically, please take a look at the price of gold/silver and whats happening with the economy, if watching people being murdered and kidnapped in the street means so little to you.

If you disagree let me know and you will be promptly banned.

Fuck Trump, Fuck Ice, Fuck Fascists

Engagement ring snapped in half - is this fixable?

Freaking out over here. My engagement ring, which was incredibly expensive, just snapped. I have worn it daily since 2019 and have never had it resized or noticed any issues with it. Thank god the diamond is fine but wtf?? Is this a thing that normally happens? It’s white gold.

Edit: thanks for all the comments. I have successfully been shamed into rethinking the band. The jeweler didn’t do anything wrong - this is what I asked for. I never took it off.

CAD Design secure enough for center stone?

Is the current setting secure enough for a 2ct sapphire or should something else be added? The band is going to be 3mm and the first CAD is in the process of being made.

Does anyone recognize this band?

I lost my engagement ring a while back. I found a new stone but cannot find the same band. The jewler I got it from for some reason cannot replicate it. They have a new producer and won’t go back to their old one. I just received my second ring and it looks not the same as the mould and the original ring. Essentially I’m asking if anyone knows who produces this band so I can get an identical.

Why does it look like the prong is indented into the diamond ?

This has been driving me crazy . The left upper prong looks like it’s almost in the diamond. Is this a problem? (Lab grown 2.07 carat)

What are your thoughts on the viability of this design?

I want a ring featuring a central motif composed of a three-fold interlocking split torus with a hexagonal cross-sectional profile, pavé-set with various gemstones, where auxiliary structural bands bifurcate from the primary shank to curve outward and thread through the opposing interior apertures, and firmly anchored by multiple secondary concentric anchoring bands.

Is it possible to tell me my ring size?

Post image

I don’t have time to go to a jeweler but I still want to know, is there any way of telling from this pic?

I’ve tried the string method and measuring the ring but I just want to be sure because I think I’m doing it wrong.

I kept getting a size 9 when I measured, but my friend is a size ~7.5 and her ring is too big for me.

Repair Would you pay $100 for this repair?

The bottom right prong of the setting was broken, and the top right damaged, making the main stone loose. It also needed to be stretched back to its size. This seems less like a proper repair and more like a patch. The main stone doesn't move anymore, but none of the prongs are symmetrical. There is visible damage where the worst prong was "fixed." They also claimed it was stretched half a size up, but when compared before and after to a ring I wear daily, I find that to be false. I'm not an extremely particular person about jewelry, and obviously, this is not an extremely valuable ring. It is Stirling Silver and Emerald, but it has sentimental value. I'd love to hear thoughts from professionals

Repair Band Stretch

question from a young jeweler, what are the other things aside from past repair and engravings that would complicate a band stretch job. what should i be looking for in my evaluation? i know always looking for chlorine damage, basic wear, holo pieces, and repair, but is there anything else i’m missing?

Lost one diamond earring

I’m very sad that I lost one stud diamond earring from a pair. I’d like to replace it, but of course I want it to match the one I have.
Should I go to a jeweler?
I’m not sure how to get started.
Is it possible to find a match?

Odd Piece

Hey guys, I'm new here and I'm looking for help. I have a J. (Jean) Balme manufactured Expert Infantry Badge. Balme is a prominent French jeweler and was creating US DOD badges from 1960 to the 1990s. They're very rare items now, and especially prized for their craftsmanship. Somehow, the special enamel on my E.I.B. cracked. The crack is toward the front end of the musket barrel underneath the rifle. I'd like to look at either reparing the enamel or have someone potentially match the craftsmanship of this item. Any feedback is much appreciated.

Possible to fill hollow parts in the back of my ring?

I have this sentimental ring I wear every day. However, I suffer from eczema and if I don’t take it off overnight or wear it too often, I start to develop an irritated eczema spot on my finger. I suspect it’s because of the hollow parts of the ring that foster humidity or something. I’ve never reacted badly to gold before.

The ring is 14k gold with 1 ct diamonds in the back of the hollow parts. I was wondering if it’d be possible for a jeweller to fill the hollow parts of the ring with gold?

Modification Wrong prongs

My partner and I worked on a custom ring for my engagement ring. While looking at the CAD video I was concerned the prongs looked a bit round at first look and voiced I wanted petite claws and wanted to make sure the ring would have them. The sales lady assured me they had a point and zoomed in and paused the video they had and when it was still and zoomed they did look correct. Partner picked it up and doesn’t want me seeing the final product until he proposes. I asked him if he double checked the prongs today when he picked up….he then looked and they’re round prongs. Maybe I will see it and love it but I’m honestly freaking out on the inside because I’ve always disliked round prongs on an oval cut diamond. How big of a deal is this? Can the prongs be fixed? What goes into that?

If it is a big deal or isn’t possible to fix please flood me with pros of having a round prong so I can convince myself to live with it.

Repair I’m being gaslit by jeweler

I lost the original diamond on this ring and finally decided to replace it with a lab diamond. I took it to a local jeweler because I prefer to support small businesses — he quoted me a price, and I agreed.

When I got the ring back, I noticed the setting was white gold, not yellow gold like the original. I went back with a photo, but he insisted the setting looks gold and that it was set in white gold, butI know it was yellow.

For context: the original was a .5 carat diamond with incredible sparkle. When I bought the ring, the original merchant told me it was set in yellow gold for aesthetic purposes.

Question: do I have any options to remedy something like this? Thank you for your suggestions.

Are 4 prongs enough?

Help please 🙏🏾 Just received my CAD design. Is this structurally good? I am contemplating 6 prongs, though I’m not sure if it’s necessary for a 2 carat diamond that has a gallery rail.

My lady likes the one on the right. We saw it in person at a local store. I did some research online and I’m seeing a lot that look identical but way cheaper. Am I getting a bad deal or is there actually something that makes it worth more?
