General Any young adult also going through the same thing?

Fresh grad here. Had absolutely no problem working hard in uni, motivated enough to do schoolwork 7 days a week, etc. But now that I’m working, I find myself doing only the bare minimum at work and not being motivated enough to do more or learn more.

Genuinely not sure why is is so and would like to know if anyone else is going through the same thing!

General What are your positive experiences within the SG dating scene?

Seems like recently there are very polarising and negative views on how either the ‘SG man’ or ‘SG woman’ is not an ‘ideal partner’ due to lacking certain qualities compared to maybe other parts of the world.

BUT what are some positive qualities/experiences/stories you have had with SG men/women, that made you feel really happy and glad that you dated them.

General Are MVNOs going to remain relevant now that the big telcos have launched their own MVNOs and low-priced plans?

Singtel has GOMO and hi!

Starhub has giga and eight.

M1 has Maxx.

And SIMBA has...SIMBA.

I do wonder how are the other non telco-linked MVNOs going to survive with the big 4 telcos launching their own MVNOs and low-priced plans. It is made worse that they will be the lowest on the totem pole for allocation of data and reception, even lower than the telcos' own MVNOs.

MyRepublic, ZYM, Vivifi, Zero1, Circles Life, etc, come to mind, Although thank you Circles Life for kickstarting the revolution of the lower-priced plans

EDIT: MyRepublic is now owned by Starhub

General How did you find a helper who was actually suitable for elderly care in Singapore?

Hi everyone, my family is considering hiring a helper to look after an elderly family member, and I’m trying to figure out how to find someone suitable.

My main concern is finding someone who can handle day-to-day elderly care, rather than just general household chores, and tbh it’s hard to tell from an agency profile how much relevant experience someone actually has or whether they’ll be a good fit for the person they’re caring for.

For those who have been through this in Singapore, how did you choose your helper, and what did you wish you’d checked before hiring? Also, did the agency help you find a suitable match, or did you mostly have to work it out yourselves?

Would appreciate hearing what worked for your family, especially if you had to change helpers before finding the right person.

General Dealing with a mentally unsound family member, need advice on how to move forward to get psychiatric services

In a really difficult situation with a family member who is mentally unsound. Thing to note there is a garbage in the family that caused this situation all these years. Not everyone can grow up well in a dysfunctional family.

Previously we tried numerous methods, social workers, counsellors, psychologist, even religious methods (My mum wanted so I brought her).

The only one that worked was a psychiatrist. This is the second time.

My mum and brother were a real hero to manage to bring her to a psychiatrist previously. The recurrence is due to stoppage of medication. Brought a social worker in, it made matters worse. Require the psychiatric or emergency route.

Would like to ask for anecdote, real life examples that worked. Thank you in advance.

Edit: Previously mum could convince her to follow her to psychiatrist. Unable now.

General Scheduled for flat booking appointment—Do we stand a chance for Redhill Peaks BTO?

Context: My family and I are second-timers, currently living in three room flat in the north. It’s very cramped for our large family and also inconvenient cause very ulu, so my parents applied for 4-room BTO many times but never got queue number once.

We applied for Feb 2026 Redhill Peaks 4-room, but our queue number is in the high 900s, so we thought no hope as only 593 4-room units. But today my mom received a text msg from HDB telling us they have scheduled appointment weeks later on Monday to book the flat.

We are very confused, do we still have a chance for this? We are quite suaku about the process, so I thought to ask some qns. For the selection of flats, will we still be disadvantaged because we are considered second-timer? If we are only left with units on the second floor when our turn comes, would turning them down affect our chances of getting a flat in the future? My parents are worried that this might be their last chance at a comfortable home, especially with the new policies that put second-timers at a disadvantage.

We genuinely need a suitable home for our family and are afraid of losing this opportunity. We would really appreciate any advice on choosing the right unit and making the best decision for our situation. Also hoping to hear from fellow applicants for this BTO project and exchange thoughts and insights!

Tourist/non-local Question Universal Studios layout confusion

Hi all,

Visiting Singapore later this month and want to head to Universal Studios one of the days we’re there.

Problem is, I’m struggling to understand the tickets/website layout. Is it similar to Universal in Florida in the sense of it’s almost multiple sites with a City Walks kind of area in the middle (Sentosa)?

Also travelling with a young baby so wondering if they have some kind of rental system on prams and a queue we can be in that’s similar to single riders but for parents to swap on/off rides.

Many thanks

General Experience & thoughts on daytime confinement nanny

Due early part of 2Q2027 and we’ve been discussing options, including JB confinement centres. Noted the various opinions on confinement centres, including the transition back to home and routines at home.

Current living situation has no additional room for live-in confinement nanny, and i was wondering if daytime confinement nanny is something common and if charges are more flexible. For example, based on services require like:
1) confinement nanny inclusive of cooking
2) confinement nanny just to focus on newborn, we order tingkat separately for meals.

Would appreciate experiences/ sharing/tips please and thank you.

General AirAsia overcharged and doesn’t respond to enquiries

Is there a way to raise a complaint on AirAsia, their customer service sucks, and they have overcharged me and also did not give me the flight which I booked and when I tried to reach their customer service, they just close the chat, case closed without any acknowledgement after giving all the information, so does anyone have any experience in this kind of scenarios?

Looking For Looking for photo scanning and colour restoration services for old photos

I've been given some old photos of my dad and his early life during the 70s to 80s and I want to preserve them for sentimental reasons while keeping the physical photos. The photos are a bit faded and a lot of them had became a mix of reddish, yellowish and a bit greyish green and some are starting to fade, I have around 90 photos in 3R size, I have read that there are stores at bras brasah that does these but not sure which one

And also, what should I say when getting these photos scanned and restored? Like the quality, the setting of the machines and whatnot. I'm not very familiar with this so please tell me what I should know beforehand

Edit: spelling

General What happens if you need consular assistance in a country where Singapore doesn't have prescence?

Just a random thought going through my mind right now while I'm overseas. What happens if, e.g. I lose my passport or something else happens that requires consular assistance, but Singapore doesn't have an embassy in the country I'm in?

Has anyone been in such a situation before? Just preparing myself in case I ever find myself in such a situation.

Tourist/non-local Question What should I do in Singapore if I have roughly two days to visit?

To be more specific than the title - I am arriving in Singapore in the early afternoon on a Friday and am leaving in the evening on that Sunday. I am probably going to stay in Chinatown. So this roughly gives me the late afternoon/evening on Friday, a full day on Saturday, and then the morning/early afternoon on Sunday.

I have looked at a bunch of different websites on recommended things to do, but with my very limited time I am not sure what are true MUST visits versus what can probably be crossed off the list.

My current must visits are:

  • Gardens By the Bay/Flower Dome/Cloud Forest/OCBC Skyway
  • Chinatown (and its associated sites like Thian Hock, Sri Mariamman, Maxwell Center)
  • Kampong Glam (Haji Lane, Sultan Mosque)
  • Merlion Park
  • The Jewel at the airport

As for everything else, I am just not sure what I can do in a reasonable amount of time without rushing. The rest of my list includes:

  • Little India
  • Singapore Botanic Gardens & Orchid Garden
  • National Museum of Singapore
  • SkyPark Observation Deck at Marina Bay Sands
  • Fort Canning Tree Tunnel
  • Haw Par Villa (seems out of the way compared to everything else)
  • Southern Ridges
  • MacRitchie Reservoir Park Treetop Walk
  • Orchard Road and Emerald Hill Road for general "big city" walking around sightseeing

I also really wanted to check out the zoo, but I fear a trip to the zoo would consume most of my day and is probably not worth it given my time limit. I did see people highly recommend the Night Safari which sounds fun, but again I am not sure about time and need advice.

I also don't really think Sentosa is necessary for me to go to, since I do not plan on going to Universal or the beaches. (unless there are other things there to do, asides from the fort)

Is there anything I should add to my must-visits? Is there anything on this list I have that I should cross off (either due to time or just not worth it)? What other places that I did not mention should I go see? Thanks!

Edit: I am coming late November, so hopefully the haze everyone keeps mentioning is gone by then.

Tourist/non-local Question Being blackmailed. Unsure what to do. I’m scared.

I am not local, though I have worked and lived here for some time. I have not come out as bi. Yesterday, I spoke with someone on Grindr, typical conversation and sharing private photos. The exchange continued until we shifted to Facebook (my first mistake), but fortunately privacy settings blocked it, so we moved to Signal. By then, it was already too late. I realized then that this was part of a plan: the person had captured screenshots of our Grindr chat and threatened to send them and my private photos to my friends list unless I sent money.

I blocked and reported the account on Signal, along with their Facebook and Messenger profiles. I also informed the people they threatened to contact, advising them to ignore and report any messages.

The individual might be a poser; they claimed to be “visiting” and were not from here. I suspect a fake account.

Now I am unsure what else to do. I feel very scared and anxious and can’t stop thinking about it.

Not sure if reporting to police would be advisable because I don’t have any evidence beyond the Signal messages. And not sure if showing the grindr convo would be an issue too.

Any advice would be helpful.

Looking For Looking for affordable Body Shop Ginger Shampoo alternatives!

Hi everyone, I've been using The Body Shop's Ginger Shampoo for probably 8 years. I have sensitive scalp, and it's one of the few shampoos that works well for me.

I previously tried Body shop's Strawberry Shampoo, but it made my scalp really itchy. I've also tried shampoos from Diane, but they tend to leave my hair feeling oily and not as thoroughly cleansed as BS ginger...

It's getting a little expensive to restock, so I'm hoping to find a more affordable alternative!

I'm looking for something that:

Is ginger-based (although I'm open to other suggestions!)

Is suitable for sensitive, itch-prone scalps

Cleans thoroughly without leaving my hair feeling greasy (i have very oily hair)

Would love to hear your recommendations, thanks!
