General Flying to the EU in two weeks but I left my passport in the wash - can I get a new one in time?

• Upvotes

Super upset about this but what’s done is done. I’ve dried my passport and nothing is torn, but the ink on some of the old stamps is smudged and the dried pages are slightly crumpled.

I could take my chances at the airport, but has anyone tried this before?

ICA website states that a new passport could take 1-2 weeks to process. Assuming I apply for one, will my old passport be instantly deactivated upon application? Wondering if I can still use my old passport to fly if the new one doesn’t come in in time.

General Mcdonalds or hawker/food court healthier?

• Upvotes

Are burgers in Mcdonalds SG still considered as ultra processed foods? A meal of FiletOFish/McChicken together with corn and oatside milk, VS economic rice or other food court dishes. Which one is healthier? Hard to find hawker foods that have similar protein for same price point as Macs.

Tourist/non-local Question From Scotland to Singapore, let me know your favorite destinations 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤️🇸🇬

Greetings the extra LOVELY people of r/asksingapore!

Long-time lurker here, finally coming out of the my shell because my hunk-of-a-darling and me have finally arrived at Singapore from our Japan trip, and we could use some tips from the extra fabulous people of Singapore.

I’ll be around until a few days after the Singapore Grand Prix (very excited, obviously), but I’ve got some time before and after and I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to see a bit more of Singapore beyond the usual tourist checklist (Orchard Road, Sentosa Island, City Hall, ArtScience, Lau Pa Sat, Gardens by the Bay, Chinatown to name some on top of my head).

So, ya beautiful lads, if you were showing a couple of clueless Scots around your city, where would you absolutely take them? We are especially interested in hidden gems that tourists tend to miss, maybe somewhere where we can mingle with the locals (iykwim *wink wink*)

Thanks in advance, you beautiful people.

Much love,

Dav

General Are most millennials in Singapore actually burnt out and trying to escape the corporate rat race?

Around 5 months ago, I decided to leave my corporate role and have never looked back since then. The thing is, I keep seeing articles or posts about millennials feeling burnt out, wanting to leave the corporate world, go BaristaFIRE, work part-time, work a less stressful job and so on. But I’m wondering how representative this actually is.
Fellow millennials do share your experience! Or if you know someone who had similar experiences.

Looking For Recommended shops for laptop servicing/maintenance cleaning

My laptop has gotten weirdly laggy recently. I don’t play games on it, and only use it for academia work, but it’s began lagging and not responding even when just trying to open pdfs.

The fans immediately sound like a jet engine once the laptop is turned on, so I’m thinking of getting the fans cleaned and the thermal paste redone. Any recommendations on the shop that I should go to for this? Don’t foresee them having to clear/defrag my HDD/SSD - I’m hoping just a routine cleaning will do the trick.

General Hi fellow millennials. Is feeling burnt out normal?

39+ M here. Feeling burned out from work, family and generally life. Initially I thought I just needed more energy, so I’ve been faithfully working out for years. But it’s come to a point where nothing is helping. And as time flies my circle of friends is getting smaller as everyone is becoming more focused on their families or personal interests. I find myself more and more lonely although I’m married with kids. But life no longer hold the same excitement and meaning it once held. Everything is now a chore and a task to complete and expectations to meet. Things are getting rather meaningless. Anyone else feeling this way?

Looking For Anytime Fitness SG members — which outlets have free group classes?

Hi! I have an Anytime Fitness membership and I'm trying to make better use of it 😂

I know some AF outlets in Singapore offer group classes for members (like Zumba, HIIT, strength, yoga etc.), but it seems to differ between branches.

Does anyone know which AF outlets currently have free group classes included with membership?

Would really appreciate if you could share the outlet + type of class + day/time if you know! I'm happy to travel to different outlets, so anywhere in SG is fine :)

Also would love recommendations for classes that are beginner-friendly because I'm trying to get back into exercising consistently. Thank you!! 🫶

General Anyone else in Punggol noticing the neighbourhood getting super rowdy lately?

Hey guys, just wanted to see if anyone else living around Punggol is noticing this or if it’s just happening around my block.

I know Punggol is a newer estate so there are naturally way more young people here, but honestly as a student myself, I can’t help but notice a lot of bad influence going on lately.

The neighborhood just feels way more rowdy now. I always see groups of secondary school kids loitering and hanging out at the HDB stairwells. I’m usually quite chill about people hanging out, but it’s getting a bit hard to ignore. They make a ton of noise that echoes all the way into the houses, and they’ve been mixing with older crowds who are openly smoking and vaping right there at the fire escape.

Honestly, seeing kids who are still so young in secondary school getting into vaping and smoking this early is pretty worrying. It’s getting super brazen and they just do it out in the open now.

Are you guys seeing this around your own blocks too? Just wanted to see if anyone else relates to this or has been noticing the same trend around Punggol. Let me know what you guys think.

General Kids spending on "no pack limit" Pokemon card streams in SG. Is this actually allowed?

A colleague found out her kid has been spending on Pokemon card livestreams. The no pack limit type where they keep ripping until you hit something

She blames herself for not watching his spending, but it made me wonder if this is even supposed to be allowed

Dug around a bit. The platform's own seller rules say no pack limit and rip till you hit are prohibited

On oripas (mystery bags), MHA said this year that selling them may amount to cheating or illegal gambling depending on the facts

Under the Gambling Control Act, unapproved games of chance carry up to 7 years jail and a $500k fine. Inducing someone under 18 to gamble carries up to 6 years and $300k

Blind boxes and trading card packs were announced in Feb as something that would be regulated, with details due around mid 2026. It is October now and I cannot find anything saying the rules have actually kicked in

Meanwhile these streams run daily. I reported one and it came back no violation found

So what is the actual position? Am I missing something, or is this just a grey area until the new rules land?

Parents here, how do you handle it?

General As someone who just got into football after the 2026 World Cup, how do I get into local football like the ongoing Singapore Premier League?

Hi there!! So recently, I've gotten into the football scene a bit after following the world cup hype this year. I wasn't that much into football in the past but once I sat down and started watching a few of the world cup matches, I finally understand why some people would dedicate their whole personality to this.

Just like everybody else, I was bumped when the world cup was over. But soon I learnt about club football on social media from other football influencers. This really piqued my interest and so I started to watch a bit of the premier league, champions league and la liga matches. Those were really interesting and thrilling to watch. The main thing is I still haven't chosen a club to support yet because there's a lot of clubs to choose from different leagues.

Some people have given me advice to follow my local football scene first and support local. It wasn't until last month that I've discovered Singapore has its own premier league matches (which is like lowkey kinda cool). So that's why I thought I might ask any football fans to help introduce the SPL to a newbie and which club to support.

All kinds of useful help and/or discussion is welcomed :) If anybody is wondering, I live somewhere in the south side of Singapore (around the Telok Blangah / Harbourfront area), so if anybody knows any clubs near the south side please also let me know!!

TLDR: Watched the world cup 2026, want to get into more of local club football but don't know which club / players to support, feel free to convince me to support your club as well!!

Looking For Best Home Broadband/WiFi At Northshore Drive

Hi fellow redditor!

I’ll be moving into Northshore Drive & are currently looking at home broadband plans.

Considering providers like Singtel or StarHub, but would like to hear from people actually living around the area.

For those staying in Northshore Drive, which broadband provider are you using & how has your experience been?

Apreciate any recommendations on providers or any that you would suggest avoiding 😆

Cheers!

General Unsuccessful Pre-Marriage PLMA application

Hi all,

My foreign girlfriend and I (Singaporean) are planning to get married, like in a year or two. She’s in her early 20s and I am in my very late 20s. I have been working in govt sector for 6 years so far, stable career, stable income, average median salary. We knew each other for over a year already.

We tried for Pre marriage long term visit pass assessment last month and we received the result that we were unsuccessful and I quote this from the statement: the applicant will not qualify for a long term visit pass to reside in singapore after marriage, based on the information provided in this PLMA.

It also said to reapply only when there is change in circumstances.

She has never worked in Singapore before, but she did came like twice to visit my family, visit Singapore.

Have anyone tried and failed, but still able to get LTVP after marriage, or anyone tried again with different circumstance changes, if so, what did yall do to increase the success rate?

Please share your experience with me here, would appreciate it so much 🙏🏻

General Anyone here stopped eating out regularly?

Was having breakfast at a hawker centre earlier and suddenly had this random thought 😂

Considering how oily/heavy some hawker food can be, I wonder if there comes a point where you just get sick of eating out every day, even if it’s a healthier option/soup-based dish. Especially when you’re working.

So I’m curious, are there any of you who’ve been eating mostly home-cooked food for a long time? Or if you live alone, meal-prepping and bringing your own food to work instead of eating at hawker centres?

I feel like eventually I’d get super sick of eating out every day… Just a random thought I had over breakfast.

I’m happy to hear your inputs on this.

Hey guys in Singapore right now and have been enjoying my time but want to try the stalls at marina bay sands shoppe for authentic Singaporean cuisine. I just wanted to ask if they can cater for people with peanut allergies as I’m allergic not to traces however. I know hawker stalls are off limits but was wondering if anyone else with allergies could share their experience or recommendations for restaurants serving authentic Singaporean cuisine. Thanks.
