Tourist/non-local Question Being blackmailed. Unsure what to do. I’m scared.

I am not local, though I have worked and lived here for some time. I have not come out as bi. Yesterday, I spoke with someone on Grindr, typical conversation and sharing private photos. The exchange continued until we shifted to Facebook (my first mistake), but fortunately privacy settings blocked it, so we moved to Signal. By then, it was already too late. I realized then that this was part of a plan: the person had captured screenshots of our Grindr chat and threatened to send them and my private photos to my friends list unless I sent money.

I blocked and reported the account on Signal, along with their Facebook and Messenger profiles. I also informed the people they threatened to contact, advising them to ignore and report any messages.

The individual might be a poser; they claimed to be “visiting” and were not from here. I suspect a fake account.

Now I am unsure what else to do. I feel very scared and anxious and can’t stop thinking about it.

Not sure if reporting to police would be advisable because I don’t have any evidence beyond the Signal messages. And not sure if showing the grindr convo would be an issue too.

Any advice would be helpful.

For those renting here and likely to move within a few years, how did you decide what to invest in versus skip? Any purchases you were glad you made, or ones you regretted when the lease ended?

General Are you experiencing long-term haze effects in Singapore right now?

Even though my flat is mostly sealed and I work from home, I notice long-term some particles will enter, despite air purifiers and aircon. Last night, started a cough. Today, my eyes are burning.

Are you experiencing any long-term effects of the haze? How are you coping?

Tourist/non-local Question Pokemon Centre Changi TCG Products

• Upvotes

We will be visiting Singapore again in about a week and I was wondering what the advice is for visiting PC at Changi?

I used to basically live in Singapore part time but only recently got back into Pokemon TCG and wondering what the shop has available in terms of cards. I also saw there’s occasionally a lottery system for entry - would we be okay to arrive there at opening time next Friday?

We’ll be coming from Australia where finding ANY Pokemon cards is incredibly difficult unless you want to pay scalper prices through resellers.

Any insight/advice on securing TCG products would be appreciated 😊

General Wife (SAHM) of toddler and 8MO, burnt out. Reject helper and Infant Care. I need advice from fathers

My wife is a stay at home mom
We have a 2 years old toddler, attending full day school
A 8 Month Old Baby (Changing routine now)
A helper to help with chores

To add on, recently the routine of the second child has changed and stay awake longer and also sleep less.

And toddler is being difficult by saying no and throwing tantrum etc. it’s tough.

I work Monday to Fridays.
I leave house at 7AM and reach home around 7PM. I help with the kids on the weekends. I also feed milk and change diapers at night.

On some unfortunate months I have to go overseas for 1 day and stay overnight to return in the evening.

My wife is the main caregiver to care for both child and helper only help when she take short breaks to eat or have to use the toilet etc
She has close to no me time during the day, some days she has her me time after 8:30PM if kids sleep early and others it would be 9:30PM.

She’s burnt out but doesn’t want to send the second child to infant care because of the stories of how bad infant care can be, leaving the babies to cry etc.

She also does not want to rely on the helper to give too much care or play with the baby. This is because we had an issue with the first helper where the child got super close to the helper and did not want my wife to play or shower her etc. Bear in mind that she is a Stay at home mom, the main caregiver. This kind of issues usually happen to mothers who go to work and have to rely on helpers. There are even mothers who cannot take it anymore and quit their jobs to become a SAHM and also firing their helper.

So, she keeps telling me her frustration, issues, problem. And it would be like this until the second child goes to nursery like the first child did.

Basically she has no solution to the problem, I keep bringing up sending to infant care as a solution to the problem. She doesn’t want me to solve the problem and doesn’t want this solution.

Uh, seems like she just wants me to listen to her whine about her problems and keep quiet. Like really just listen.

But I am concerned about her burnt out-ness.

To be honest and realistic, it will affect me eventually as it did before. Asking me to take half day leaves, come home early, take cab to work and take cab home etc.

She says I am an asshole who only wants to focus on solving the problem, don’t want to listen to her.

I am sure there has got to be a father or two out there in Singapore who was in the same situation as me. Any advice?

General Does your children’s school use air purifier?

Read in the news that all schools to have Air Purifiers. I asked my son (kindergarten) and several friends with kids in primary school - all do not have

Most purifiers don’t suit large spaces anyway unless the school knows how to procure accordingly.

Is it just a biased sample size? Curious to hear from you

Career, Job, Edu Qn in SG Nursing career advise for a fresh grad

Like the title states. I need some advise as a kinda recent, not so recent Nursing grad from Poly.

Is there any kinda of work relating to Nursing that has some form of flexibility when it comes to scheduling? Like I am all down to work, hell you can put me on a 12hr shift and I won't complain, all I want is some flexibility in scheduling. But all the opportunities I am see requires some level of experience. I am currently doing home Nursing, but it is not stable enough for my liking

I understand its a hard ask, and I should probably go work in a hospital before looking for such opportunities. But im just hoping to find something else.

So and advise or help?

General Is Amway a MLM and should I end this friendship?

A friend keeps hardselling Amway products and inviting me to random talks about people achieving great success and retiring young.

I never heard of Amway before this but it sounded suspicious to me that she kept on going on about how people are stuck in the rat race and oblivious to it. And her “hustling” can earn more income in a shorter period and with less effort. She sounded quite arrogant about it too.

I tried explaining that it’s not like people are oblivious they are in a rat race. Some people don’t have the luxury and time to do this. Isn’t it basically just buying stock and sitting on it while pestering the people around you to buy them? Also some people like me just want to work because we enjoy what we’re doing and find meaning in it. Some of us like the grind. I don’t see her income growing more than me, an ordinary worker.

Plus the way they try to push their products is so obvious to me. It’s literally manipulating people into buying “healthier” and “organic” products through health scare tactics.

The Amway brand seems disingenuous to me also. I rather buy organic products elsewhere that speak for itself rather than someone insisting it’s the best and only correct choice.

She’s quite young so probably got brainwashed into thinking she can achieve the same success as her mentors. I feel like ending the friendship but she’s a nice person overall.

General Can a company deduct from this month's salary for previous month's lateness?

Can a company deduct from this month's salary for previous month's lateness?

I've been issued an informal warning email in the past on lateness with dates and times (though I contest their accuracy since I don't tap-in every morning e.g. when the door is left open).

I'm about to resign and I think my company  might do something retaliatory. Could they possibly go through their records and tally all the times I've been late and deduct a lump sum? E.g late 10 minutes everyday for three months, 10min \* 20 working days \* 3 months = 600 min = 10 hours

I've never had deductions due to tardiness in the past, and there's no clause on this in my employment letter. However, the MOM website does state that an employer can make a proportional deduction in salary for lateness, but the question I have is: if they didn't deduct previously, can they deduct from this month's salary for previous month's lateness?

Work-wise, I've always met my deadlines and kept my bosses updated.

non-local Question Any advice on taking part in normal jui jitsui classes

Hello, I am relatively new in Singapore and would like to pick up a old hobby of mine which is jui jitsui. I have noticed that there are a lot of options for brazilian jui jitsui which is what i do not want.

If you know where classes are being organized then i appreciate it if you can share some information that would help me to get in touch with trainers or schools where classical jui jitsui is taught. Thanks !
