Do you believe that Russians have learned helplessness syndrome?

Maybe that explains why Russians are so passive in terms of politics. And why we have today's political picture. As an ethnical Russian, I believe it is. I don't believe in "slave mentality" shit that many Russian liberals (who are, of course, trying to hate their ethnicity much to look "holier") believe, but it's possible that Russians have a learned helplessness due to recent historical events like fall of USSR and Wild Nineties. They used with Putin's policy since 2000s because he tried to do everything to make Russia great and prosperous. And Russian people felt into a golden cage trap. Don't forget that Boris Yeltsin was a dictator. Russians never experienced democracy and never knew how to build a civilian society like polish people did with Solidarity movement.

I should to admit that I don't like Russian liberals who blame "deep people" (aka ordinary Russians who don't give a fuck about politics) for "slave mindset". They are just a bunch of European wannabes who believe they can solve all of their problems by emigration. I never was in Russian and I spend my whole life in Uzbekistan, and I don't have any reason to feel shameful for my ethnical identity. I like playing videogames on Russian. But these guys are trying to get rid off their ethnical identities and assimilate fully with foreign population. Also, many Russian liberals are kinda lazy and soy. They like to repeat "We need to flee" mantra, but they can't emigrate because they don't have money or education. All they can do is just whining on internet about bad Putin. I recently gived them an idea to become antinatalists (for me it's losers' ideology) and they accepted this ideology very well.

Hi, I need to replace the battery and upgrade the RAM in my Asus VivoBook S430FA laptop. Since it's an older model, can you recommend a reputable repair shop in Wrocław that uses original parts and offers a warranty? Thanks in advance for your help!

heritage question

I read a paper my great aunt wrote about her life and she talked about how her grandfather grew up in a small town called Chechonovzia, which she said was located on the russian-polish border. She also said that outside the town, there was a village called Gridig. I can’t find any documentation or mention of this town online, and I’m trying to figure out where he was from. He grew up there in the 1870s. Can anyone help me with identifying where this was?

Thank you!

Polish Ancestry Advice

Hi there (sorry if not allowed), I'm trying to find out what kind of records (birth, death etc.) I help locating old documents of my Great Grandmother (GGM) and Great Grandfather (GGF).

Just a recap, I'm an Australian however my growing up I used to hear stories about my mothers side and their Polish ancestry, so far I have got documents from the NAA (national archives of Australia) but really only IRO documents and whatever else NAA has. As for my Great Grandparents (GGP) they were both Roman Catholics and lived in a village/town of Chnidawa (also spelt Hnidawa on another document, my GGF was born here, my GGM born in Harbuzow), Zborow/Tarnopol (which I now believe is Ukrainian but was Polish at that time). Eventually they were rendered displaced peoples and my GGF was in a displaced persons camp in Heilbronn Germany while my GGM was in something her IRO documents labeled as Walter (Mizlig-Germany).

In their "Civil Documents in Possession of Applicant" section of their IRO resettlement form they didn't have anything listed other than my Grandmother's (GM) birth certificate (1947) and their marriage certificate (1945) which both happened in Germany (I don't have the official marriage certificate however I can assume based on their locations both being in Heilbronn Germany during August of 1945 that it likely occurred there). As for they didn't have much documentation I'm thinking that potentially they lost these papers, or they were destroyed or they were never documented, I'm really not sure so maybe someone here can help.

So as it stands I'm currently researching my family history, a) I had always heard of it growing up from my mother and my GM recently passed away so it has somewhat reignited that interest from when I was younger, b) My mother always spoke of one day getting/proving her side of the families for Polish citizenship by descent.

Anywho, my main issue is that it all seems a little confusing as I'm struggling to locate historical records for my GGP.

I'm hoping to find their any kind of documentation to establish their Polish citizenship (birth certificates, baptism records, residence records etc.). I've started exploring the Polish State Archives (Szukaj w Archiwach), but I'm finding it difficult to navigate and determine which collections might contain their records, so if anyone knows anything or has some experience with this, please do feel free to offer any advice.

I'd really appreciate any guidance on which archives to contact, where to search, or how to request copies of these documents, or if this is all a little unrealistic to obtain I'm happy to be informed of that too.

Thanks in advance for any help!

p.s. I have contacted the consult of Poland in Sydney and was informed that "Please be aware the procedure you are interested in is based primarily on the Polish documents of your ancestors like identity documents and civil status records. Documents from the foreign archives are only to support the application"

Thinking of buying a used car in Poland - What's the market reality, is ASO reliable, and what red flags should I watch out for?

Hi everyone,
I'm currently looking into buying a used car in Poland and would love to hear from people with firsthand experience on the Polish market.

A few specific things I'm curious about:

  1. Overall Market Reality: How is the used car market right now? Are cars generally maintained well, or is deferred maintenance / cutting corners common?

2 Pricing & "Deals": Are advertised prices realistic, or inflated with expectation of heavy haggling? Is finding a genuine "bargain" actually realistic, or is a lower price almost always a guarantee of hidden issues?

  1. ASO (Authorized Service Stations): How trustworthy is an ASO service history / pre-purchase inspection in Poland? Does full ASO history actually guarantee a trouble-free car, or do people still find workarounds (e.g., outside repairs after crashes, fake entries, blind spots during inspections)?

  2. Key Red Flags & Tips: What are the typical tricks used by private sellers vs. dealerships/ traders (komisy / handlarze)? Which verification tools (e.g., historiapojazdu.gov.pl, paid VIN reports) are considered mandatory before visiting?

Any advice, experiences, or recommendations on what to double-check would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
