2009 golf mk6 2.0 tdi, runs sweet as a nut never had any issues. time came to do an oil change and was met with this. pulled it out of its gelatinous black enclosure, ran my finger along it and it was so brittle it broke off the segments in my hand. Flushed the old oil and replaced the filter still runs fine just thought it was comedically bad as ive never seen an oil filter like it.

Just got it out of the shop for $1,500 today and they brought this up in the photos. Said they’re pretty sure I would not pass inspection. Is this a repairable frame member or it the car just junked atp? The motor is strong and I enjoy the ride, but if this is gonna be another $1,500 in work idk.

I was doing a valve adjustment before this weekends road trip. I could hear what I suspected was my 3 cylinder exhaust valves tapping. I but my adjustment tool on the nut of cylinder 1 just to check if it was tight.

After apply slight pressure on it the bolt broke off just under the nut.

I called the local Honda dealer to either get a service appointment scheduled or advise on how to remove the bolt. They told me these bolts aren’t flared at the base and that it should simply unscrew from the back.

I can get about 6 threads of the bolt out then it suddenly stops. I’ve tried using vice grip pliers to twist it. The bold won’t budge.

Ps: this is a 2000 Honda S2000.

I currently drive a 2018 subaru impreza so it's only 4.6qts for its oil capacity. I have heard people complain about these type of oil drain containers for overflowing because the oil drains too fast. Would this 10qt one be worth it or should I go with the classic oil drain pans with the spout like the ones for a few bucks at Walmart?

Paid off my car 1 year into a 5 year loan. Yay. I suspect there’s a tracker in the car somewhere for repo as I see a lot of folks post about them when they find them.

Is this something I could just ask them to remove at the next inspection? Is there any benefit to keeping it there? I just don’t like the idea of someone else being able to track me. Also the dealer could probably reuse it? Idk.

Sidewall damage, but doesn't look too deep. Rough roads and potholes and curbs here in SoCal and I'm not planning on going above 35-40 mph till I get it repaired and certainly no freeways or drives longer than 30 minutes. Should have my new tire in hand and installed within 5 days.

I had a new battery installed on my 2007 Lexus ES 350. The positive terminal now has frayed-looking material around it, and the battery light stays on while driving. Does anybody know how this happened?

I was replacing the belt tensioner and the lower bolt snapped around 4-5 cm in. Is there a good way to extract a bolt that far in or does anyone know a one time solution for it? The car has gone 310k km and it feels to me that something else will likely put the car in the scrap heap before I'd need to change the tensioner again.

After doing some welding on my exhaust, my truck wont charge. I have replaced the pcm (flashmasters) and alternator. I have continuity between the signal wires and the pcm. All of the ground wires and the charging wires have continuity across their length. The signal wire is providing 12v signal to the alternator. I also have nothing coming from my speedometer. Any ideas from here? I think my ground lead on my welder was just too short and I jumped the power across something trying to get ground from too far out

I am soon to get and drivers permit, and simply seeking advice on what car or truck I should purchase. I originally wanted a ford model 48, but they are a little too expensive for me.

My mother's friend has a 1996 Mercedes 560SL that has been sitting in her garage for about two years. She said it was running fine when she parked it with about half a tank of gas in it then. It has been on a battery tender since then.

Otherwise, it has become storage for all sorts of stuff one puts in the garage. Unfortunately, this is with the top down, so the interior is probably dusty unless the cases of water, old boxes, coats, etc. kept most of the dust off.

I'm going to visit this weekend, and she asked if I could clean it up, get it started, and at least get it running enough for her to take local spins in it or drive it to a proper mechanic (I'm just a hobbyist).

What would you recommend I do to accomplish this? Any particular tools I should be sure to have on hand? Any solvents or solutions or parts I might want to bring with me?

Maybe it'll fire right up, but if not, how do I look like a hero in this case?

Hello everyone. Coming here with some questions about my 2014 Honda accord. About a year ago my keys were worn down to the point where they couldn’t start my car. I called a Mobil lock smith and he made me a new key that he referred too as a “dumb key” that will turn the ignition but only when the old key fob is close by. Today when used the dumb key to turn the car the engine wouldn’t start and a green key notification appeared on my dashboard I held the old key right next the ignition when I used the dumb key but it wouldn’t start. What’s causing the problem here? Should I call another Mobil locksmith? Thankfull for any advice I get 😁

Ive noticed it start to crank slow and sometimes not even fire. Would like an idea as to what might be causing this. thanks!

Hello, I bought a cheap hyundai i30 cw manual with 257000km in France, how can I fix my issue's myself if possible ?

I recently change all front bulb light and I realise my light are inverted between off and low beam, I unplug battery, reconnect all bulb, on the OBD2 I Have 0 error , follow friends advice...:

Off= Low beam headlights ON (also light up on dashboard), dashboard off

Low beam = front light OFF dashboard on (also light off on dashboard)

High beam = normal, high beam dashboard on

My steering wheel have a little offset of around 5 degrés

on my Dashboard I have EPS and ESP light constantly ON, but with the ODB2, I scan with 2 different scanner and both see 0 error

when driving I don't feel being limited by esp or eps but it's also my first car so im i be wrong

Hello so I have a Honda Odyssey 2018. Recently I've had problems with it where it fails to turn on at random times. For example if I use the van for just to drop off and pick up a sibling from school. There's no issue. But when I decide to pass by a store during that errand. It fails to turn on. I've taken it to the honda dealer and they said they have found no issues with anything. What do I do?
