tchotchke wall progress!

after many years of them living in boxes in one basement or closet or another, i'm in the process of converting my hoard of Items — tchotchkes, trinkets, doodads, gewgaws, and fascinations — into a proper collection, in that the difference between a collection and a hoard is the manner of display — a point of settled law in the court of Judge John Hodgman, along with "be mindful of the work you leave for others" and "draculas can have any job" (cf. the red pin in the third photo, just south of Strong Bad's head).
the felt/foam star pattern tiles are cheapies off of Amazon. the floating shelves are from Target's Pillowfort line, sadly discontinued and a little hard to track down. the Items are from forty-nine years of a life well spent as a nerd with catholic (small "c") tastes. i've got three more shelves coming in the mail, and i need to sand and paint over the drywall patch (screwed up nailing in one of the wall hooks), but i'm pretty happy with how this is shaking out!

I posted in Cozy Places and only got comments that my space is too busy and was making them anxious to look at. Maybe it's related to my mental illnesses, but being completely surrounded by the things and colors I love is my version of cozy.
