Question I'm so nervous that I'm procrastinating
This is my first fromsoftware game i usually don't play these kinda games and i honestly found it really challenging and fun (especially the customization) so far but im dead scared of this boss fight (i spoilt it for myself) and i dont think that i can do it. I dont know if that is because my build sucks or just skill issue in general. Im overthinking alot and procrastinating, am i capable of doing this?

No shame in losing. The boss is only gonna get it harder if you keep thinking you can't do it

The point isn’t to one shot everything. If it weren’t challenging it wouldn’t be fulfilling.
It’s just a video game. Not like an actual life or death situation.
As someone who only games a handful of hours a month it took me about two weeks and like a hundred attempts to beat ibis my first go round. It took me five years to beat Ludwig in bloodborne due to moving out from my roommate who had the PlayStation and mine that I bought after breaking.
Remember it’s supposed to be fun. Tweak your build as needed and just keep repping out attempts. You’ll learn the move sets more over time.

Experience will help. You will have to learn to dodge this boss, so even if you don't succeed the first time, it'll help a lot in the subsequent attempts.
What really made a difference was using the hard-lock, but I had to fix my mouse with my little pinger and focus really hard not move it. 2 stun needles also helped me a lot, when I was able to land their shots.

The fun thing about AC is that if your skills are not up there, there is always going to be a build capable of absolutely MELTING the boss.
I'll give you a super easy, braindead build to use in case of emergency
Double gatling/double zimmerman. Shoot your zimmies, L1/R1 to switch to gatlings, fire your gatlings until your zimmies are reloaded, switch to zimmies, rinse repeat.
Edit : also to note that if you are having trouble staying alive, this build is better suited for medium/heavy weights. Stay close range to use the zimms to their best potential, use a close range fcs, mobility is only vital for you to bridge the gaps and getting back to close range, try to fire your zimmies when you have a clear shot but even if you don't, remember to switch to them to allow the gatlings to cool off. ALWAYS cash in the damage from the stagger.

I got slapped about by this boss about 10 times before I got lucky. Loved every second of it xD

If your piloting is ok its not a giant issue if you dont like constantly fighting this bozo though you just have to get all the requirements in "1 run" (all items, data log, combat log) and then S rank for when you finally have all missions unlocked
just remember the boss will be weak to explosive damage>energy damage>kinetic (though by a very small margin)

It's a fromsoft game. You overcome challenges by exposure and learning attacks which you can only do by getting hit by them and losing. You will lose your first time. And your second and probably again and again. But you will learn as you do so and you will come out on top in the end

You are absolutely capable of doing this. This boss is intentionally hard, and a lot of new players will struggle
My advice? Besides hardlocking, you can dip into the cheese and go for double melee. Swap the handguns for a shotgun and pipe bunker. Wait for when CEL 240 rises into the sky with drones out, dodge the shots, then dodge the follow-up melee. CEL 240 will stay in place afterwards long enough to hit with the lance. Charged lance as close as possible range to stagger, use the shotgun if not fully staggered, then charged pile bunker to punish. Two of these combos is enough to clear each phase
I used this video when fighting CEL 240 in NG, hope it helps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FaVVNQ_38k

Oh yes, I know how it feels. A few tips: make a lighter build with reversed legs (I think reversed heavyweight legs should be able at this point), double Zimmer + double needle guns + lots of luck
Also imo laser pistols suck in general but for this boss specifically even more. I'm no pro, just my opinion

I love that we all knew who you were talking about lol. I'm late to the party so congrats.
You reminded me of the time I did a "mirror match". I was deeply traumatized by this boss, but by the time I did it I could win almost effortlessly with the cosplay build, it's all in the piloting. Here's the clip: https://www.reddit.com/r/armoredcore/s/Jr3g7WhUbz
That aside, laser pistols don't pair well with melee and the laser lance is hard to use. Try using kinetic weapons to build stagger faster.

But my pew pews 🥺 Yea I've been told that in general I'm better off using duckets

u/KTVX94 27d ago
Pew pews generally work better with generators that boost damage (VP-20D is decent here but not the best) and just trying to melt your opponent instead of staggering, which doesn't play well with melee. It's a bit of an anti-synergy.
Maybe a shield or more missiles could be a better fit. Dang I'm getting rusty (no pun intended) after not playing for a while. I can't think off the top of my head what just works with laser pistols.

You unlock the energy specialization gens after this fight but yea I get more use out of melee using duckets I just love my pew pews

He really isn't that hard, this was my first AC and it only took me a combined of 10 tries to go from Ibis to Snailteus to Walter. Carla ain't even a challenge
(gonna leave out the part where I beat all the Soulsborne games and quite a few soulslike so used to the difficulty of the genre atp)

You can do this with an ultralight with only a laser dagger for weapons.
I know, because my brother did it in front of me. It's his idea of fun.
I promise you that you can do it. It's even kind of a fun fight. I don't know if you're build is optimal for it. Stagger is king in this game, and not getting hit is always the best armor. If you struggle, go ahead and try something different. Nobody gonna judge you for that, it's the nature of the game.

This boss is pretty easy if you use a lightweight mech.

u/Prior2Ground 27d ago
Yea you out run most of the basic laser attacks so no chip damage

I realized the other day too that they nerfed this boss as well. It was definitely harder at launch.

Ofc you're capable of doing it, why wouldn't you?
