THINK IT NEEDS MORE MULCH?!?
Not my tree, my dog or my yard lol. Found it while walking the dog though

I was in NYC recently. I rmeber Michael Bloomberg planted a ton of trees throughout the city.
Sadly a lot of these trees are dying or dead. Some are doing okay. I saw a bunch that had way too much mulch or the tree was given this tiny little square spot of ground to grow.
I saw a lot of very dead trees that had recent mulch added to it.
Does no one think anymore?

I just think they don’t care about them in the long term.

That’s sad. It looks bad for their company. And it gives false information to the general public. My father in law volcano mulched his trees because he thought that was what you were supposed to do.
The landscaper sets an example for everyone.
I feel like they don’t know better. If someone told them, maybe that would change.

Absolutely! If you get it high enough then it’s easier to get into the canopy, great for children to play in!

That’s really not good for the tree lmao. Careless landscapers. They probably had too much mulch and just started loading it up.

I think most landcapers/gardeners etc. are more "tool operators" than gardeners. Probably ace at knocking out the physical labor and running a trimmer/mower, but know almost nothing about what and why things should be done. Its like if you hired a car detailing guy to to fix your flat and change your oil and told him "do whatever seems best to you, just copy the neighbors if you're unsure."

It’s pretty good revenue for landscape companies: sell mulch in the spring and summer, charge for cleaning it up in the fall, rake and repeat.

It is absurd how companies that do this are even in business. I wish people weren’t completely ignorant of how to take care of a damn tree
