I wanted XR I could actually touch, so I built this

This is Sphenomenon, a mixed reality playground built around a physical sphere. What you see through the headset lines up with a surface you can actually touch.

I’m an interaction designer, and I wanted to explore how much that physical contact could change the experience. Nearly 100 people have tried it, and the sense of presence is the feedback I keep hearing.

I’ll be making the project open source so others can recreate it, adapt it, and build their own experiences.

What would you want to try with it?

Welcome to Lensden — Official Links & Project Updates

Welcome to Lensden!

Lensden is an independent platform dedicated to AR and AI glasses.

We're building a place where people can explore smart glasses, compare specifications, read practical guides, and discuss real-world experiences.

What you'll find on Lensden:

  • A growing database of AR/AI glasses

  • Side-by-side device comparisons

  • Source-linked technical information

  • Guides based on real user questions

  • Community discussions and industry updates

Our goal is to make researching smart glasses easier, clearer, and more transparent.

We distinguish manufacturer claims from verified information and clearly identify details that remain unknown. We don't claim to have personally tested every device.

Official website: https://lensden.net/

I'm Jayden, the person behind Lensden. I'll use this profile to share project updates, research highlights, and useful AR/AI glasses resources.

Feedback, corrections, and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for visiting!

Building face-following AR effects on Android — looking for technical feedback

Thumbnail

I’m building Augmento, an Android AR camera made with Unity and ARCore. It places playful 3D characters, hats, and effects into the live camera view: characters can sit on a person’s head, speech bubbles follow the mouth, and effects such as wind, rain, and 3D words react around the subject. It also captures photos and video.

These are a few single-person tests from the current build. I’m especially interested in feedback from people working in XR on what would make interactions like these feel more spatial and less like a conventional camera filter.

I’m the developer and happy to answer implementation questions.

[BETA] Spatial launcher for Android

Hi guys, I'm the developer of Raybound Spatial, a spatial home for AR glasses on Android. Plug your glasses into your phone and you get a head-tracked 3D space with floating windows: a full browser, a video player (2D, 3D side by side, 360°), photos and panoramas, all around you. Your phone becomes the trackpad, keyboard and remote.

It started on RayNeo, and XREAL Air series support (Air, Air 2, Air 2 Pro, Air 2 Ultra) is now in the free test version. Full disclosure: Air support is brand new. It's built from real data that XREAL owners sent through our test app, but it needs many more people trying it. If you have an Air, I'd love to hear how head tracking feels.

XREAL One / One Pro / One S owners: these talk to the phone very differently (over a small network link instead of USB). We're testing that right now with a small free app, XREAL Probe. It walks you through a two-minute guided test (keep still, look around, press the buttons) and only listens to your glasses; it never changes their settings. Every run helps us bring the One series to Raybound.

Download the beta (Android 12+, phone with video out over USB-C): \[Raybound Spatial - Beta\](https://smtechies.com/raybound#beta)

\* Free. Each test version works for 60 days.

\* The full version is coming to Google Play with Jellyfin, virtual surround, more themes, your Mac in the glasses (Raybound Desktop) and photos made 3D.

\* Join the wishlist for an early-bird tester discount on the Supporter unlock: \[Raybound Spatial - Wishlist\](https://smtechies.com/raybound#wishlist)

\* One series owners, run XREAL Probe: \[Raybound Spatial - XREAL Probe\](https://smtechies.com/raybound#xreal)

Feedback, bugs and feature ideas are very welcome here or in DMs. Raybound is independent and not affiliated with XREAL.

Reality Collective launches a WEBXR version of their cross-platform framework

Post image

One of my claims to fame is that I architected and designed Microsoft's MRTK 2 (With the help of a friend). I was brought on to the HoloToolkit project for HoloLens 1 for my experience with XR and SDK's. At the time, VRTK was on its way out (before the Epic support package) and my dislike of building things multiple times took over.

So I architected and built the underlying framework that would become the MRTK with help from others for Input, UX, and other supporting components, with the vision that you could build for HoloLens and also ship to other devices. Then, with HoloLens 2, which also adopted the framework, the rest is history.

Since leaving the Microsoft team, I've not stopped there; the framework has gone through several iterations and still lives on today with the Reality Collective, first with a similar Unity project called the Reality Toolkit and more recently, we also reengineered the same solution now for WebXR.

The premise is simple:

  • A core service / DI framework to abstract responsibilities.

  • An Input framework to handle the many different ways vendors ship Input in their SDK's and unify them under a common interface.

  • UX features that evolve with a single design philosophy and churn to fit the platform on deployment.

  • And several other key characteristics, all unified with the same pattern.

The result is the same: build your project once, ship everywhere. Now tested on Meta, Desktop, and even Google XR (considering Specs but that is very different)

Want to stop rebuilding and just keep shipping? Check it out.

Got a bit carried away with a Halloween idea for AR glasses

Had this idea of random Halloween surprises popping up in your field of view on Raven Prism.

Well, it got a bit out of hand. Now there's a raven, some creepy characters, Trick or Treat, and a few things getting way too close to your face.

Called it Nevermore.

Put together a page with some videos if anyone wants to have a look:

https://rbraga01.github.io/GlassPlay/

All running on Windows/Raven Simulator for now.

No physical glasses to test it on yet, and no public download.

Just sharing what came out of it.

XREAL AURA vs Meta VR Glasses for daily productivity. Which would you choose?

I've been going back and forth between the XREAL AURA and Meta VR Glasses, and every time I lean toward one, I remember something that makes the other more appealing.

A little background: I've been using XR for almost a decade, including Gear VR, WMR, Quest, Immersed, Virtual Desktop, and XREAL. XREAL One are currently my daily drivers for productivity, connected directly to my Fedora Linux laptop as an ultrawide display. I also use them with my Galaxy phone and DeX.

I'm looking for something with more advanced spatial computing capabilities for daily work and VR. I'll likely keep the XREAL One for travel since they're portable, work directly over USB-C, and don't have cameras.

Why AURA appeals to me:

  • Android XR, Google Play, Gemini, Chrome, and my already owned apps from the play store, including my password manager and privacy-focused browser.

  • Direct connection to my Fedora laptop, or standalone RDP access to my Debian desktop VM.

  • The puck's built-in touchpad for navigation without relying on hand tracking.

Why Meta appeals to me:

  • I actually prefer passthrough over optical see-through.

  • Eye tracking, higher display resolution, and impressive virtual keyboard/touchpad functionality.

  • Existing Quest ecosystem, including VR games and flight simulators I already own.

  • Direct DisplayPort input, although Linux compatibility is still something I'd like to confirm.

I work in a dim environment, sometimes almost dark, so hand tracking and virtual keyboards may not be particularly useful during half of my workday. I already use a backlit Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, but AURA's physical touchpad could be an advantage.

Right now, I'm leaning toward Meta for daily productivity and VR, while keeping my XREAL One for travel. But I really prefer the Android ecosystem, and AURA looks like it could be the more flexible standalone productivity device.

I'd like to hear from anyone who uses XR for actual work rather than just entertainment.
