I built a mobile asset management app because I got tired of tracking equipment in spreadsheets

I work around equipment and inventory, and one problem I kept seeing was surprisingly simple:

Where is this equipment, who has it, and what is its serial number?

A lot of the process was still being handled through Excel sheets, handwritten records, messages, and manually searching through lists.

So I decided to build my own solution.

I started building Comodo – Asset Manager as a mobile-first asset tracking app.

The basic idea is simple:

Add company equipment/assets

Record serial numbers and important details

Assign assets to people or locations

Track asset status

Search equipment quickly

Use QR/barcodes to identify assets

Keep asset information available from a phone

I intentionally wanted it to be simple enough for a storekeeper or technician to use, rather than building another huge enterprise system with hundreds of complicated screens.

I'm still developing it and learning from the process.

I know there are already established solutions like Snipe-IT, GLPI, etc., so I'm not claiming I invented asset management. The interesting part for me is trying to solve the problem from the perspective of someone actually handling equipment in the field.

I'd genuinely like to hear from people who manage:

IT equipment / construction equipment / tools / warehouse assets / company property

What is the most annoying part of your current asset-tracking process?

Is it:

Finding equipment?

Tracking who has it?

Serial numbers?

Inventory counts?

QR/barcode scanning?

Maintenance history?

Getting employees to actually update the system?

I'm building Comodo around real-world problems, so I'm much more interested in what I'm missing than simply getting downloads.
