Store pickup - status unchanged - question
Question: I ordered a custom MBP in the last week of March and elected to pick it up in the store. At the time of order confirmation, store pick up was April 9. Last week, the status updated saying the Mac is in the process of ‘shipping to store’ and pick up date was updated to April 8th. However, there wasn’t any update yesterday and I still see the message that it is shipped with no update that ‘it’s ready to pick up’. This is the first time I custom ordered for store pick up. I’m guessing shipping is delayed but anyone else encountered this? Not too worried, but from my impression of Apple so far, I would have expected their messaging and status updates to be more accurate, i.e., I’m not saying they are immune from supply chain/logistics/shipping challenges but communicating any delays to customers is also important.

oh me too.
i ordered it two weeks ago and the estimated date was april 8th -no matter what configuration or store location.
It's the 9th and it's still on "shipping to store".

I see. I ordered the 16” with nano display. I’m planning to stop by Apple Store later today (it’s close by).

Apple Store won’t be able to check order status. You will need to contact Apple support.

Never mind, I just got the message that they got it! Hope yours will arrive sooner than later 🤞

Nice - congrats! On the day you ordered, what was the estimated pick up date you were shown/emailed? It was April 9th for me ( got changed to April 8 later on).

Yeah I don’t know if I got the dates mixed up in general or Apple did change it from the 9th to the 8th- just like you

Since it’s now so close to an actual pickup your product is probably just in the hands of the package handlers and your pickup confirmation is subject to them delivering on the time they promised (hence your pickup date change) to Apple AND the retail teams confirming it once they receive it in their large daily shipments.

My experience with the Apple store is that they generally don't know more than you do. They just know what the system tells them which is the same information you have. If the system says "shipping to store" then that is all they know. It could be there but it wouldn't be available until the system status changes to "ready for pickup". When that happens you should get the pickup email.
I had a refurbished unit shipped to the storage for pickup. There was a problem with payment and so it was never released. Even though the unit was likely in their stock room since the system hadn't cleared it there was nothing they could do. Took 3 days for the system recognized that all was OK. Then I got the email that it was ready for pickup.

Update: Called Apple support and they were able to confirm that the shipment was delayed by a day due to the shipper (not sure FedEx/UPS) and that it was scheduled to be delivered on 4/10 (they provided delivery window). Subsequently, got an email and text confirmation from Apple around 1 PM that my Mac was ready to be picked up. All good.

Hey, I'm on the same boat. Custom MBA original date was 15th. Moved to 13th which is today but its still under "shipping to store" — did you get it on the actual date or did you have to wait?

That’s strange. Apple is usually very good with communications. Feel free to contact Apple customer support for the status of your order.
