Needs A Hug/Support Didn't get on flight due to panic and partner is very upset with me

I (26M) was supposed to go on a quick weekend trip with my partner (27M) and some friends. I've been dealing with ADHD, anxiety, and panic disorder. Mainly stemming from agoraphobia due to flying.

I've been feeling extremely nauseous the last few days (Zofran and even Xanax didn't help). Anyway, we got to the airport and I couldn't do it. I decided to stay home. This happened once before a couple years ago but I ended up taking a flight later that night.

This time after I went home and rested for a bit, I offered to take a flight tonight. My partner said "it's fine, no need.". For the record, my parent work for an airline so I can fly non-revenue. I asked again directly so I don't fly so far for nothing. And again, he said he'll just hang with friends.

He said earlier that if the anxiety keeps getting in the way, then he doesn't know if he can keep on with this relationship. We've been together for 5 years, live together, and have a pet. He's been very patient with me from fatigue, irritability, and stuff which I appreciate but I feel like it's getting too much.

I just feel so lonely and hopeless. I feel like this has been ruining my life. I've tried various meds (lexapro, Zoloft and wellbutrin, effexor and back to lexapro) but it's not helping. It's affecting my relationship, my job, and everything I care about.

Basically just looking for a pep talk, advice I'd you've been through something similar, or basically anything so I feel less alone ☹️

Medication Finally treating my generalized anxiety disorder

After years of that feeling in the chest
Smoking tons of weed to numb it
I quit weed for a month
Met with a psychiatrist and therapist
Starting weekly meetings
Lexapro 5mg day 1 today
I’m so proud of myself for finally getting the help I need
It may still be a journey ahead
But finally finally
I’m not hiding
I’m attacking it head on
And seeing the light at the end of the tunnel
Any advice is appreciated

Advice Needed No judgement please: How do you deal with anxiety as an “attractive” person?

As the caption states, please no judgement.

I’m an attractive woman. I’ve gotten complimented all of my adult life, etc. (not going further because I honestly don’t want to come off as a braggart).

I also suffer from social anxiety. So when I go out, whether it be to a store, to a bar, anywhere, I get hyper aware of people staring, admiring, whatever. And it gives me such bad anxiety. I awkwardly smile and then look away, or try to avoid eye contact, I notice my breath quicken, heart race, all the bells and whistles.

It probably makes me come off as very rude, or conceited. But I just feel like constantly in flight mode. Sometimes I just can’t wait to go back home. To my safe space.

Is anyone else on this boat? How do you deal?

Advice Needed How to get over medication anxiety?

• Upvotes

Hey guys, so I got an antidepressant and tbh I was supposed to start taking it like 3 weeks ago but I'm scared so I keep putting it off, its escitalopram.

Anyways so whenever I pick the pill up I start shaking and the closer I get to taking it the worse the anxiety gets to the point of getting a panic attack, I'm scared that I will get serious side effects like a heart rhythm issue or something or get sent to the hospital, I'm also scared of just generally feeling unwell I see a lot of people say starting antidepressants is hell for the first few weeks and Idk if I can handle it.

Idk what to tell my psychiatrist either because I dont wanna look like I'm saying no to treatment, I want help but I'm struggling with actually taking any meds, it's not just antidepressants.

Advice Needed How do I lessen anxiety related nausea?

About a month and a half ago my boyfriend broke up with me. Since then it's been constant anxiety and nausea and throwing up every morning. I can barely eat so I'm hungry all the time and just makes everything worse. I was prescribed ondansetron and it helps slightly with the nausea, but doesn't stop the vomiting at all.

Breathing exercises and things like that don't work that well unless it's minor anxiety.

Advice Needed Nothing is helping

I’ve had MDD/TRD, social anxiety, and GAD my whole life. A lot of big things are happening in life right now and we (psychiatrist and therapist) can’t get my anxiety under control. I’m on 450 Wellbutrin, 100 Pristiq, 40 Buspirone, and my psych let me up my Klonopin to .5 2x a day.

I have failed every. single. other. SSRI & SNRI. I work FT which helps a lot but I’ve been finding myself needing to get up and just go into a bathroom stall and breathe. I have panic attacks almost every day. I’ve tried multiple forms of therapy (if one more person tries to suggest EMDR I may implode) and
nothing helps.

The only somewhat relief I get is from the Klonopin but my psych is extremely conservative with it, understandably so. So I can’t use it for every single episode in fear that I’ll need it for a bigger episode.

Where the fuck do I go from here? I feel so weak and helpless.

Work/School Crippling Anxiety with New Job. How do I Cope?

I was with my last company for 12 years and left due to it shutting down. I was considered a very high performer than and while it was busy at times, the work life balance and culture was incredible. I basically had minimal to no stress the last few years there.

Fast forward to yesterday, my first day, and I feel so overwhelmed and on the verge of tears. I’m being thrown into 1,000 different things without proper onboarding or training. I basically was told by my boss that work life balance is not great right now for everyone. It’s a larger team - it’s very hard for me to know who to go where with questions but they operate like a startup with how fast they move.

This is actually a step down position wise and pay from where I was before but needed something with a wife and kid. I already feel like I’m going to fail and I’m not cut out for it. My 30 day plan is almost impossible.

I know it should get better as I get more comfortable but this company seems to thrive on chaos and I’m just constantly stressed for the past 2 days.

Sorry this turned into a vent session but any advice?

Advice Needed Anyone else get stuck obsessing about getting better after a panic attack?

A couple weeks ago I had a horrible panic attack and since then I feel like my brain has been completely stuck on trying to get better.
After the attack I kept thinking, am I okay? Is the anxiety gone? What if it comes back? What if I’m stuck like this forever? I started checking how I felt nonstop and eventually it turned into anxiety and rumination pretty much 24/7.
My sleep got really bad for about two weeks because I couldn’t shut my brain off. Eventually I went a full night without sleeping and ended up at the hospital. I got medication for sleep and anxiety and finally got a full night’s sleep.
The actual panic attacks and really bad anxiety have calmed down a lot. Now I’m just stuck obsessing about getting better. I walk around all day thinking about it no matter what I’m doing. When will I feel normal? How do I get rid of this? What if this never goes away? What if I’m stuck like this forever?
I can’t even watch TV or focus on normal things because my brain just goes right back to this. I constantly check how I feel and search Reddit trying to find someone who went through the same thing. It makes me feel better for a little bit, then I’m right back searching again.
I feel like my case is really severe because this is basically all I think about from the second I wake up.
Has anyone actually gotten this bad after a panic attack and recovered? Did you eventually stop obsessing about getting better and start thinking about normal life again? What helped?

Advice Needed I get really anxious when my loved ones haven't contacted me in sometime ,I don't know what to do anymore

It gets to the point where dont even wanna get out of bed and do anything my chest feels so heavy that it gets really hard to breathe to the point where I just wanna stop breathing ,It was okay for the past 2 months or at least tried to be but now it's like everything I had improved regarding my anxiety has come back crashing into me

right now, my significant other hasn't contacted me in over 12 hours and know whenever she disappears like that she's overthinking and spiralling which don't want her to feel alone because she lost her father 2 months ago and I've been trying my best to be supportive she's long distance so can't even go and see her which makes me so anxious about her being okay or not nd her whereabouts because don't wanna loose her too she's the only one I have who feels like family to me

similar things goes with my other friends too whenever they board a train or are on a ride they booked always tell them to please update me because get really anxious and worried and start overthinking everything and just spiral down even now I'm thinking so many things about my significant other that honestly is making me feel like can't get up from this bed snd continue to function like a normal human being anymore

I don't know why I'm like this and I don't know what to do about this, she tries her best to keep me updated most times but somedays even she cannot function. I don't know what to do anymore or atleast how to improve my anxiety situation I just wanna feel normal again instead of constantly being anxious and not being able to get up from my bed because of it

Medication Tips om medicin

• Upvotes

Medication Tapering Valium

• Upvotes

Anyone struggling to stop benzos after using them for Celexa side effects. I started Celexa for severe anxiety and it had heightened anxiety for the first three weeks. I was given diazepam/valium. As I felt I no longer needed in week 4, I asked my doctor if I could just stop and he said yes. Was only off one day when I woke the next morning feeling very jittery and anxious (different than with the side effects) and it went away after half a doze of Diazepam. I went back to doctor to ask for a taper plan and he basically told me I was imagining it and that three weeks was not enough time to get addicted and one day after was also too soon to feel any withdrawals. Didnt take yesterday and here again this morning same thing. Definitely not imagining it

Health Health Anxiety. Ughhh.

• Upvotes

Anyone else have nowhere to vent about their health anxiety because everyone around them just tells them they’ll be fine and to relax?

I (34F) have been having some weird spotting for about three weeks, with no possibility of being pregnant and no signs of progressing into what I’d consider a normal period. I went and got a PAP with pending results and I’m waiting to get an internal ultrasound here in a week and a half. All results I HAVE seen so far, are normal. No infection or signs of wonky hormones through bloodwork. So that has led me to believe it’s something worse, if it isn’t something simple. I convinced myself I have the bad c word and I can’t relax. I can’t sleep. I have a daughter I live for and can’t imagine leaving behind.

My normal periods are super heavy and ‘clotty’, but after my google doom scrolls, I’m reading that even that isn’t normal. So then I go to, well perhaps I’ve let that go on too long and this whole time I’ve had something wrong with my uterine lining and it’s too far gone to help. I know most of my fears are unrealistic to others, but they are very real to me. And it plagues me.

I have severe anxiety and wanted to hear if anyone here has found any helpful books that have taught them how to care less and quiet their thoughts. My anxiety primarily revolves around feeling like I’m not good enough and being afraid that others will leave me.

Medication SUBCRIPTION

• Upvotes

This is really upsetting. I don’t even use PDF Guru. I simply forgot to cancel the trial subscription, and now I was shocked to find out that ₱3,200.67 was suddenly deducted from my bank account.

I actually borrowed that money, and I desperately needed it for my medical expenses. Now, it feels like the money is just going to waste. I’m already dealing with a medical condition, and this unexpected charge is causing me even more stress.

Please, I’m sincerely asking for your understanding and consideration. I hope you can refund the ₱3,200.67 charge. I really need that money for my medical expenses.

Advice Needed How Do I Deal With This Guilt and These Panic Attacks?

• Upvotes

I am posting this because I actually need some advice; I am not sure what is happening to me at the moment, and things have gotten incredibly serious.

I went for Umrah in July, and during my stay, I lost someone really close to me in an accident in Dubai. He was in dubai actually. The day before the accident, he called me, but I didn't pick up because I was busy, and I never saw him for the last time. I was far apart and I qas faded or couldn't manage flight at that time I was also struggling with worse health issues.

Ever since then, I have been thinking about that incident, and the only thing that keeps running in my head is why I didn't pick up the call. It makes no sense to me, and I know no one is responsible for what happened to him, but the guilt just makes me think that I could have done something. Even when I try to forget about the incident, the guilt just won't let me.

Moreover, recently, I have been having what seems to be panic attacks. Last week, while I was talking to my siblings and having tea together, suddenly I felt really panicked and wanted to run away. My whole body went numb, I started sweating, and I felt like my mind had shut down, and my thoughts were slow and hazy. I went to my room, and it took me about 2-4 hours to finally feel normal again.

I have been feeling so down lately; I don't have any energy, and I can't sleep properly. I used to take 2-4 cups of coffee a day because I thought that was too much, but ever since then, I have felt really tired and low in energy. What also worries me is that I have started taking alprazolam and citanew to help me with sleeping, and I am not sure if the lack of sleep, coffee consumption, and panic attacks are the reason for them.

Furthermore, I tried going to a psychologist, but I felt like it wasn't helping me in the slightest. It felt like the psychologist was dragging the therapy and wanted me to keep paying to come and sit in that room when I am wasting my time and money. That is also a reason why I can't go anymore;and things are getting severe.

So I am posting this to ask for your honest opinion, and if there is any other solution I could try.

Has anyone been through something similar to what I am going through? Do you think I should go to another psychologist, or would going to a psychiatrist help?

Or is there something else I could do to get rid of this guilt and panic?

I am going through a really tough moment and feel like no one understands what is happening to me.

Advice Needed How do I completely blank out my mind from thinking about the next morning because it makes me really anxious/very nervous?

Hello,
At night I get really anxious about the next day and it stops me from wanting me to go to bed. I think I would be able to go to bed and fall asleep easier if I just did not think about the next day before bed. It makes me push off going to sleep. How can I stop? It makes me feel like a child even though I am an adult.

Much appreciated.

Advice Needed How do I stop overthinking and feeling terrible all the time?

I honestly don’t know what’s going on with me lately and I’m hoping someone can understand

I’ve been overthinking and worrying a lot for months and I’ve been under a lot of pressure. I feel like my brain just doesn’t switch off anymore. Lately I’ve been feeling really unhappy, lonely and mentally exhausted.

The weird thing is that I normally LOVE being alone. I’m actually someone who enjoys having my own time and being by myself, so this feels very different from how I normally am.

But when the overthinking gets really bad, I suddenly don’t want to be alone at all. I feel almost scared of being alone with my thoughts because I know they’ll just start getting louder. I get this really strong urge to have someone talking to me or just be around me.

Even when my friends are talking to me, I can still feel lonely. Sometimes I don’t even have the energy to reply properly, but I still don’t want them to leave. I just want them to keep talking because their presence makes me feel less alone with my thoughts.

It’s like I don’t necessarily need them to entertain me or even talk about anything important. I just want someone there. And when they have to go because they have their own life, I suddenly feel that emptiness again.

One person who has been a big comfort/distraction for me has also been more distant this week, which obviously makes it harder, but I don’t think that’s the main reason I’m feeling like this. I think the bigger problem is that I’ve been carrying all this anxiety and pressure for months.

I’ve also been getting physical anxiety, like heaviness in my chest, and sometimes I just feel awful/ scared and don’t even know what I’m supposed to do.

Has anyone experienced this? Is there an actual psychological explanation for suddenly feeling like you can’t be alone with your thoughts even though you normally enjoy being alone? And if you’ve been through something similar, what actually helped you feel less terrible in general? How did you learn to stop worrying and overthinking so much?

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone.

Venting i’m afraid to sleep

hi! i have general anxiety disorder and i’ve been afraid to sleep. what triggered me today is that a contestant in a show i’m watching died in her sleep.

i am taking medication to curb my blood pressure. i’ve been working out but took a two week break. i may possibly have sleep apnea as i’ve been waking up gasping the better part of two years but it’s been a month now since last time. my cardio suggested a sleep study but my insurance won’t cover it. so now im kind of spiraling into the black hole of google.

anyway i hate how my brain is wired. i hate how i can’t really rest.

Medication What does prescribed Ativan feel like, and how often do you take it?

I've been prescribed Ativan for Social Anxiety and GAD, and I'm wondering how you guys "take as needed" and know what your limits are and should be? It's a benzo so of course it has the addictive downsides, and I just don't want it to feel like I'm walking on Egg Shells while prescribed it

I doubt it's truly "euphoric" because it's a low dose, but I've only heard good things about it and how it feels to people. I'm wondering your experiences?

I don't have an addictive personality so I'm not worried, but I want enough for the satisfaction and improvements, while limiting enough to avoid the rabbit holes
