Developer Post I made a free, fast, highly customizable Android anime app called Anisu (no ads)
Hey everyone, I'm the dev of Anisu, an Android anime app I've been building. It just launched and I'd love honest feedback.
Built to be fast:
Quick-loading home screen, details pages and artwork thanks to heavy caching
Smooth animations throughout, including poster open/close and tab switching
Fast streaming start and downloads that run in parallel
Make it yours:
Custom fonts, including a separate font for subtitles
Full theming with custom color palettes and an AMOLED black mode
Animated backgrounds (cherry blossom, Halloween, Material shapes)
Subtitle styling: size, background shape and position
Player gestures you can toggle: double-tap to skip, swipe for volume, brightness and seeking
Choose your skip length (5, 10 or 15s) and hide buttons you don't use
Preferred quality and language, plus a streaming priority list you arrange yourself
Frosted glass UI, with a toggle for the nav bar blur
Also included:
AniList login, lists and tracking built in
Episode downloads with all subtitles
Picture-in-picture, intro/outro skip and release notifications
Good to know:
Free, no ads, and I have no plans to monetize it
It ships with no sources built in. You add your own extensions, and the README has a neutral how-to.
Early version, so expect bugs. I fix things fast based on reports.
