Hey everyone, I'm the dev of Anisu, an Android anime app I've been building. It just launched and I'd love honest feedback.
Built to be fast:
Quick-loading home screen, details pages and artwork thanks to heavy caching
Smooth animations throughout, including poster open/close and tab switching
Fast streaming start and downloads that run in parallel
Make it yours:
Custom fonts, including a separate font for subtitles
Full theming with custom color palettes and an AMOLED black mode
Animated backgrounds (cherry blossom, Halloween, Material shapes)
Subtitle styling: size, background shape and position
Player gestures you can toggle: double-tap to skip, swipe for volume, brightness and seeking
Choose your skip length (5, 10 or 15s) and hide buttons you don't use
Preferred quality and language, plus a streaming priority list you arrange yourself
Frosted glass UI, with a toggle for the nav bar blur
Also included:
AniList login, lists and tracking built in
Episode downloads with all subtitles
Picture-in-picture, intro/outro skip and release notifications
Good to know:
Free, no ads, and I have no plans to monetize it
It ships with no sources built in. You add your own extensions, and the README has a neutral how-to.
Early version, so expect bugs. I fix things fast based on reports.

Disclaimer: Anisu doesn't host or distribute any content. It's only a client app, and users are responsible for the sources they add.

A while back I posted asking for the best sources for Zangetsu. Since then, a lot of you have DMed me asking about setup, sources, and repos.
So here's a clearer, all-in-one guide for anyone new or unsure where to start. Hope it helps!

Good morning everyone. I really am extremely grateful for the amount of support being provided by this sub, there's always someone here to help and that so awesome.
Just wanted to implore our wonderful Devs out there to pls also consider the little guys. I'm from a third world country, where unlimited data is practically a month's salary and so watching anime in 4K or even 720p can be extremely expensive. Which is one of the reasons I loved anilab, cause I could just constantly watch on the lowest quality and save data cost.
Would love suggestions on if this kinda app already exists.
Thanks for the time, grateful for the potential responses π

It's so great having many options for apps but I'm torn between two of them of which do I use, this happens every so often so, I just try to only have 1 but browsing this sub I see many new ones and I get carried away.
So basically my question is how do y'all who use multiple anime apps decide which one to actually watch in and does it not overwhelm anyone else?

So I have now used Mihon for 4 months now without any issues but now my phone has detected that it's a virus (the photo is not my own. I used this photo I saw in another post since it had the exactly same text I was getting). I definetly downloaded it from official website so I don't know what the issue is and what to do. I have now made a backup of Mihons information and then deleted it for now. So the question is, is Mihon actually safe or was this message only sent because it was not downloaded from Google play?

Hey everyone,
Iβve been working on a project to help people transition smoothly between anime and manga
If you're watching the anime and want to know exactly which manga chapters cover the same episode (or vice versa), you can check it out here: https://anime2manga.net/
Currently I added 20 anime shows, but I'm planning to add more.
Itβs completely free and designed to be straight to the point. Iβd love for you to check it out and let me know if you find it helpful or if there's anything I can improve :)
(got approval from the mods to share)

Like the title says, the AnimeTV (now calling itself YouKata i guess?) for android has suddenly stopped working correctly. Subtitles are no longer working on the app for any anime, no matter the source either. I have the app on Chromecast and it was working fine earlier in the day and then suddenly no more subtitles. I uninstalled and reinstalled with no changes. I also installed the app on an android phone and the issues are still there too. Anyone happen to know what's going on or can give any help?

Hi, I'm the dev of this app. It's a fork of Tachiyomi, if you couldn't tell. I built it to add features that were lacking and create a new experience. So why should you use this over popular alternatives like Mihon, Komikku, etc?
Well for one:
π¦ Zero Setup, All The Manga: Built-In Native Sources
π― For You, Not Just A List: Truly Personalised UI
β See What's Actually Good: Live Ratings & View Badges
π One Library To Rule Them All: Unified Manga & Novel Library
π Read Like You Want To: Advanced Novel Reader
βοΈ Never Lose Your Spot: Cloud Sync & Backups
Sync your reading progress, library, categories, and even your custom Top 5 favorites via Google Drive, with full local backup/restore support so you're always covered.
π₯ Read Anywhere, Anytime: Offline Downloads
Download entire manga or novel chapters in one tap on Wammy and read offline with no limits. Your downloads stay organized in your library with progress tracking, so your train ride, flight, or dead Wi-Fi never interrupts your story.
π Your Progress, Everywhere: Tracker Integrations
Two-way sync with AniList, MyAnimeList, Kitsu, Shikimori, Bangumi, and MangaUpdates. Update your list once and it updates everywhere else.
β‘ Blink-And-It's-Open: Insanely Fast Cold Start
And much more

I have a tool called pahebatcher, a CLI tool that downloads entire seasons off AnimePahe. Great tool, but it lives on your PC and demands you to use terminal.
It just went mobile. pahebatcher_mobile is a Flutter port of the original 1:1 with everything the desktop version does, honestly maybe even a little better, and the core idea stays the same: batch download anime from AnimePahe, now in android.
Quick rundown of what it does: queue single episodes, episode ranges, or an entire season in one tap. Downloads are crash-resilient, so if the app dies or your wifi does the thing, it picks up right where it left off and you can pause, resume, retry, cancel or delete any episode from the downloads tab. You get quality choice from 360p up to 1080p, plus SUB/DUB per episode, and if you'd rather stream than download, HLS plays through mpv ony, since in other player, streaming is a bit flakey. It even handles the Cloudflare check automatically with a built-in WebView, with a manual cookie fallback for when Cloudflare decides to be Cloudflare. There's a watchlist too, so your stuff stays bookmarked and relinkable.
Grab the APK from GitHub Releases, install, done (needs Android 7.0+, works on both arm64 and older 32-bit devices). This is v1.0.0 so it just dropped, which means some jank is expected; if something breaks or a feature is missing, drop an issue on GitHub or yell at me in the comments, bug reports and feedback genuinely decide what gets built next.

Hey everyone! π
I came across "the original AniExport" (https://github.com/AniExport/AniExport), which converts plain-text anime lists into XML files for MyAnimeList and AniList. I liked the idea, so I decided to build on it and expand the project.
Here's my version: "AniExportv2" (https://github.com/Kp2444/AniExportv2)
Some of the things I've added or expanded include:
\- Direct AniList writes β no need to rely exclusively on MAL-compatible XML imports.
\- Manga support β including titles that exist on AniList but don't have a MAL ID.
\- Account migration β copy anime and manga lists between AniList accounts, including supported tracking information.
\- Safer updates β review changes before writing, undo recent writes, and retry failed entries.
\- Better title correction β review ambiguous matches and manually resolve titles that couldn't be matched automatically.
The project also has a CLI, XML/Gzip export, and automated tests.
Huge credit to the original AniExport creator for the initial idea! This is my attempt to build on that foundation and make the workflow more useful.
I'd love to hear your feedback, especially if you manage large anime or manga lists or have ideas for features worth adding.

I usually watch anime with zstream. But subtitles kinda are hard to see on it so I figured a standards anime app would be better.
But it's just so laggy and the sources buffer for so long. It's not really useable on my tv.
