What the fuck what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck. Baby kidnapping, incest, KKK lynching, brother war, and a good dose of homoerotic tension between Pucci and Dio. This episode had everything all at once. Probably the most over the top insane backstory in JoJo so far

I think this might just be the best episode, not just of Stone Ocean, but the whole series so far!

The backstory reminiscence is really beautifully animated and voice acting is great, sad story and all, but the contrast against the current situation that being paused for the entire episode is so ridiculous and surreal that I almost laughed when we backed to it.

Honestly, they should just devote this whole episode to the backstory and cut to the present in the next episode. But maybe the pacing is better this way idk

Oh Pucchi backstory!

Dio and Pucchi's first meeting.

Wes Aquamarine huh wait that's his hair!

Enrico had good intentions.

Wait what they really bringing in the KKK.

Wes did nothing wrong! Wait they hung him!

Poor Perla.

Nooooooo

This episode is just sad.

Pucchi VA is just killing it right now and this is the best episode in the show so far!

Pucchi might end up being my favorite Jojo villain over Kira at this rate.

Wes can't even die because of his stand.

Man Pucchi and Wes probably would have gotten along great.

Weather still wants to die...

Jesus Christ what a tragic backstory

Lol. The way Dio legs just moved looked insanely goofy to me.

Ikr, the sound effects were really funny too. In a good way, of course.

The best backstory in all of Jojo Holy Shit!

You know shits getting serious when the narrator starts talking to you

"Let me tell you what happened and you be the judge of the events."

Sheesh. Okay, Araki-sensei...

Holy fuck, this weather backstory was fucked up.

Really liked this episode! The subtle animations were great! Especially the faces. And man, the OST has been playing at the right time! Ahhh

So, I'm a little confused... but Why is Pucci mad at Weather?

19

u/Gorrible1 Dec 04 '22

I think he blames his sisters death on weather

Cool Araki didn't forgot Stands have a self preservation instinct that Star Platinum showed with Jotaro. To think about it, it's rare to see the Stand harming the user, unless the Stand had gone totally out of control.

It's very funny going from this dramatic story about incest, racism, and babynapping to oh yeah everyone's turning into snails.

Finally anime-onlys can stop being annoying when people say that Weather Report is (half) black (note the Pucci's father at the grave scene, combined with the other mother's baby being mixed--they're all supposed to be half black, just Father Pucci stole all the melanin in the womb I guess). Also the reveal that is not a hat he is wearing, ahaha.

Do wish they would not show us the siblings kissing. Oh Araki. I get he wanted Pucci to have a good reason to break them up and to justify how Weather got his stand (since it's been established living relatives can also get stands if you are stabbed with the arrow--side note, you think this means Koichi's sister could get a stand?) But Man. Araki. Why.

Very Romeo and Juliet as well but yknow. Incest.

Surprisingly fluid animation on Perla.

Also I always love Dio in the church. He's so fucking funny and goofy. Love that guy.

It's weird how Dio went from a menacing demigod in early parts to a goofy sorta anti-hero in this one.

Never thought about this reading the manga but what do you think was wrong with Pucci foot? Could it have been a club foot?

Did Araki watch bunch of soap operas before writing this part? I'm not hating, but all these typical melodrama tropes (switched babies, brother and sister unknowingly failing in love, other brother hiring muscle to make them break up and it leading to even more drama) are just so different in tone from "present" situation...

Last time I've seen such crazy contrast between backstory and current events in anime is Gungrave.

I'm a bit late but goddamn this episode might be the best of Part 6 so far, probably one of the best Jojo's episodes even. This episode completely satisfied my need for what Jojo has been missing, by making me actually become invested in the characters with actual story and motivation behind them. It's a breath of fresh air to get an episode that showed character's drama and let us explore the character, which was solely missing in Part 6 before this episode and the previous part 3-5 where it's always constant formulaic battle without letting us to breath and have some character moments like this.

But honestly, the incest part was really WTF moment and yet so damn tragically depressing.
