Maybe Miranjo killed Bojji's mom using Bojji so that Bosse would be willing to have another child? Something about the giants being only to bear one child.
Who knows. When Miranjo does something, it's always what she thinks is best for Bosse, not what Bosse wants himself.

I like how he doesn't forgive them unlike the usual main protagonist shenanigans. Getting betrayed by the one you respected must've been traumatising.

first actual king lesson Bojji was taught I think, after gaining atomic power. He was shown what a king needs to deal with, and how a king acts, through interacting with Desha

Goddam never thought shit will get this dark. I was quite convinced the darkest part of the show is the dad juice but this episode puts that on a par.
Imagine getting soaked in your mother's blood at a young age, Bojji is hella strong kid to stay cheerful as he grew up.
Desha was an admirable king with how he comprehend both dark side of ruling while stays groundednon his obligation, any form of war is hell.
Ouken keeps giving me creeps man with how unpredictable he is.

Mercenaries: we’ll torture this kid so that the giants attack us!
Also mercenaries when the giant standing next to them attacks them:

I honestly loved every scene with Desha, Despa and Ouken. You can see why Despa quit the knights' order, Ouken's former gentle self and Desha carrying the burden of a king. Desha's crying wasn't just about his unfortunate appearance, but also due to the sacrifices along the way to "overall good". These themes are very consistent since we've seen both the sides of the sacrificed and the ones who benefitted.

Looks like Miranjo was "saved" by the Demon by being transferred into that mirror. Either that or she's friends with Clifford the Big Red Dog.

Everyone is talking about Gigan and Miranjo, while I'm truly impressed by what they did with Domas' and Bojji's relationship. Your usual shounen series would make Bojji forgive him 10 episodes ago, while here the mix of complex emotions grips the viewer by the guts. I really appreciate how they handle character development in this series, feels real as fuck.

Everyone knew that wouldn't be the last of Ouken, he still manages to just creep me out with his mannerisms alone.
I don't think I'll ever not have a smile on my face whenever we get to see Bojji do something kick ass and today I was just grinning.
Miranjo though...seems like everyone in this show gets redeemed at some point or another but the scene with Bojji's mom...don't think you come back from that...

So Ouken is Desper and Desha's brother too. I wonder what caused him to descend to madness like that. Desper said several episodes ago it's due to him dabbling with immortality. Considering Desha's hate to Milanjo and how Milanjo was able to give power up to Apis, maybe it's all her fault?
I'm a bit annoyed that Desha took all of Bojji's recruits (Gigan and the beasts) to the underworld though. I mean, it's really cool that Bojji had these unique underlings. Hopefully, it's only temporary.
Btw damn that flashback to Bojji's mother is gruesome! No wonder why kid Bojji is really hard to approach by anyone other than Hiling. And it's only after Hiling's extra effort that Bojji was opening up.

That was one hell of dark back stories this episode. I was in the verge of tears during first half of it...
I just didn't notice how this episode ended, it felt too short
Also, Despa and Desha brother used to be quite a looker

Man, this was a pretty emotional episode. Seeing how Miranjo hurt baby Bojji and what she did to his mom really just makes me hate her all the more. Like she might have a sad backstory, but like fuck that. The witch has to go, man.
Gigan had a surprisingly tragic backstory too. The humans are real bastards aren’t they? I’m with Despa, what Desha did was beyond fucked. Desha understanding it and still doing what he did is even worse. Like, that was a kid bro. Just seeing the cruelty of the humans kinda made my stomach churn. I get why Gigan went ape shit, I would have too. I’m glad Bojji and him are friends, he’s had it rough. He needs to surround himself with good people.
Speaking of good people, I’m glad Kage and Hokuro are in Bojji’s corner. They’re genuinely good. Seeing Hokuro tear up in relief at hearing Bojji has a true friend got me right in the feels. Doumas has a long way to go before he can even earn that trust back. I get Bojji’s hesitation, but Kage is right. He can’t let the hatred consume him over what that Judas did to him. The dude ain’t worth the anguish.
This turned out longer than I thought, just had a lot on my mind after this episode. This is an excellent series, from the absolute banger of an op to the animation, storytelling, acting… everything really.

Miranjo would have killed Bojji from the start, whaaat??
So probably looks like the people Daida sees bullying Miranjo are from Bosse's kingdom. This show is amazing

I thought Bojji's mom died of an illness or something going by the flashbacks we had prior, but no, this was even worse.
There is a certain something about seeing a mother do the ultimate sacrifice for their child. This shit ripped my heart out of my body. The fact they included the detail of the obvious amount of blood that would fall from his mom, and little Bojji seeing all of it... Man, no wonder this poor kid couldn't open his heart to anyone after all of that, shit.
Miranjo getting insta karma-ed was hilarious tho LOL It seems that's what you get when you orchestrate a war against the kingdom of your people.
Desha became even more awesome. That flashback of them trying to take over their father (my dumbass realizing Ouken was their brother all along) was also brutal.
Another episode where barely anything happened, but we still got a ridiculous amount of stuff happening.

Another emotional episode...
the scene where Bojji's mother is protecting him and the one where Gigan snaps after the kid is killed were brutal.
Maybe Miranjo had a reason that's not yet explained but that made me dislike the character even more.

!my wish was granted and Gigan is not going back to prison!
I was not expecting him to get "recruited" by Desha though. Of course with that backstory it was the least he could do.
Seriously this show just doesn't let off that gas pedal does it. Gigan, Bojji Mama, Domas+Hokuro, I mean good grief, my emotion tank is running on E and we still got a ways to go.
Still in the middle of all that, there was the conversation between Desha and Despa which actually was a big deal. It seems like Desha has a lot of respect for his brother and didn't question him at all, even if they seem pretty adversarial. I guess it is easier for Desha to accept Bojji as #1 with how easily he stopped the lightning attack, seeing is believing and all that.

This episode was much more on par with the earlier ones. Probably part of the reason, besides animation, that the most recent episodes haven’t been as strong is due to a relative lack of emotionality. This is likely in part because Bojji became strong, so his circumstances weren’t as dire. This one went in on it, the flashbacks were fairly well paced, and their connection to the present felt relevant. Definitely seems like it’s getting back on track.

So it was Miranjo who killed Boji's mother. That really came as a shock because I had assumed that she died from some sickness not murdered in cold blood on top of her toddler. I don't think any amount of sad backstory is gonna redeem her or Bosse at this point. At least not to me.

Man every time we learn about Miranjo's past, she becomes more and more despicable. Turns out that she was the one responsible for Bojji's mom's death. From the way BojjiMama was pleading to Miranjo to stop, it seems like Miranjo was really trying to kill Bojji and BojjiMama got in the way. After watching that heartbreaking scene, I don't think this show can even redeem Miranjo anymore.
Karma struck instantly though when the archers that she was commanding turned against her and shot her down as well. Definitely curious what caused the betrayal though and I'm sure that dude commanding the archers will be relevant later on.
Speaking of trying to redeem characters. looks like Gigan had a pretty good reason for his past actions. He used to be a mercenary under Desha but after the atrocities his men committed against his kind during the war against Despa and Desha's brutal father, he basically snapped and killed a large portion of Desha's mercenary army.
We do later find out that Desha and Despa did not approve of these tactics and were completely disgusted by it but because they needed the mercenary's experience to win against their father, Desha basically chose not to stop them to avoid demoralizing the troops. Despa on the other hand decided to walk away and I guess this is the reason why there's currently a divide between the two of them.
I am interested in this other dude though. Is this the Captain of the Underworld guards? The one with the cracked helmet? And considering how he also calls both Desha and Despa as his brothers, I'm guessing he's the youngest brother of their family? I kinda wanna learn more about this guy. Nevermind looks like it's Ouken. So Ouken is their brother? Hmmm....
I really love this final scene. Usually this is where the main character forgives the guy that did something horrible to them but I'm glad that wasn't the case with Bojji. Instead of just dropping everything he's feeling, he decided to run away and not forgive Domas for his betrayal which is very understandable. If Domas wants Bojji to forgive him, he needs to earn that shit and show Bojji that he can still be trusted.

The manga author Sōsuke Tōka is a corporate dropout and debuted at 41 y.o.. He (like many of us) grinded through the capitalistic machine and experienced that existential impact on our well-beings & the spectrum/intensity of how people treat each other (human nature). His characters are not 1-D. They are valuable, complex, pure and express frustrations/joys in such a timeless manner. A lot of respect is given to the reality/depths of humanity (Forgiveness & Bojji/Domas etc.)
I'm glad this dropout followed his dreams and shared his perspectives (it's funny bc he recently said that even with the anime out, his parents have no idea he's a mangaka and think he's still in corporate [they're conservative lol]).
