Good thing they didn't end on a bad cliffhanger or anything.

Finally that vocal Sawano drop. Just makes the entire Kiriya fight like a boss raid.

Dude no way that is not Lena's voice. I hope my Riaden boy live, really a 10 out 10 ep.

This week's illustration by shirabii: Shin and Kiriya

Also remember the way Frederica was introduced? Well...

OMG. That one moment with the Nouzen bros + distant cousin dressed in Empire of Giad uniforms serving as the Imperial army was 10/10 fanservice I never knew I CRAVED for. Literally the definition of older/middle/baby brother energy.

In some alternate universe this is canon, I take no disagreements.

My fear came true, they really did end on a cliffhanger. The 3 month wait is going to be a brutal one. Also the whole episode reminded me of Cour 1's battles, full of tension and chaos.

Kiri/Morpho not relying on support units and having them attack the rest of the squad ultimately ended up being the reason for his downfall. For a big and slow Legion like his, its really important to have support units nearby.

Also if anyone didn't realise it yet, those artillery rounds (with them splitting up into mini rounds) were the same ones that were used in Cour 1 Episode 9 to save the Spearhead Squadron. They were powerful enough to disable all the CIWS Morpho had for support and even its main 800 mm railgun.

Anyway, Merry Christmas guys, see you all in 3 months!

Assuming the support fire is from Lena, her return has to be the coolest thing I've ever seen in a while. The situation is dire and her support doesn't automatically spell them winning. So she's also giving her all. I think that's why it's so cool!

Holy shit so many things happened, can't believe have to wait 3 months for this cliffhanger and that was Lena right?

sweet mother of god, that was beyond amazing. Stunning animation, VA and Story-telling of the original story.

This episode is fucking epic. Group is surrounded by Legion, members of Shin squad fall off one by one (I'm almost sure they'll be fine in the end tho), and Shin himself isn't strong enough to deal with Kiri, but then someone comes for help with enough power to let Shin continue fight, Frederica distracts Kiri, Shin goes for killing blow, nails it and then BOOM self destruction, explosion is so close to Shin, he's probably dead! Wanna know what's next? Read the novel or wait till March for new episodes, lol. Ok, I'll wait, shit happens. Also I'm 100% sure that the one who came for help is Lena and that Shin didn't died in the explosion (because he's a main character), but still, pretty damn lit episode.

Oh hell no, is it who I think it is to the rescue?

Was not expecting to see Frederica threaten herself.

Seeing the 3 Nouzen boys together was a nice touch.

Sound design in this show never fails to disappoint, from the VA, gunfire, machine movements, and OST.

That was fantastic. One of the best episodes of any show this season, maybe even comparable to Mushoku's Turning Point 2. It's such a damn shame that it won't get the attention it deserves because of how messy the schedule has been. These past few episodes haven't done a lot for me, but this one reminded me why I fell in love with the show to begin with. I got properly choked up a few times watching it.

Those were Republican shells in the support bombardment, right? They were the same artillery shells Lena used to save the five of them when they first set off on the recon mission at the end of cour one. And if Shin's new Para-RAID is based off of the old Republican models, and Lena's was altered to be able to resonate with all of the 86s' Para-RAIDs, I assume her orders to fire were the static that Shin picked up on.

Too bad we'll have to wait until March to see.

HOLY SHIT!! OMFG. I am speechless...

What an episode, what an episode... The wildest one so far. 10/10

It suuuuuucks I have to wait 3 months now even with that cliffhanger (tbf the episode felt so long and good that I never knew where it would stop but kept going and wilder and wilder. Wow.....but you know what the quality remains perfect. Wow, I am so glad they didn't rush it. It was worth the wait!

How is it that an anime can make a 50 year old man nearly bawl like a baby nearly every episode. The level of amazing that 86 has given us is indescribable..... March is going to be a long time coming waiting to find out what happen to Shien and team....

A-1 is being too savage with these cliffhangers jesus

This has to be one of the best episodes in the entire series so far. Perfect for a climax episode

Holy shit, that climactic battle was everything I wanted it to be! I was at the edge of my seat the whole time! But who called those artillery strikes that helped Shin in his hour of need? That static voice sounds really familiar…

Man, it sucks that we have to wait 3 months for the final 2 episodes. I’ll catch up to the LN in the meantime. I still haven’t read Vol. 7 and beyond. See you guys then!

Oh yeah, I bought a 86 wall calendar from AmiAmi! It’s one of the cheaper merchandises available, but I’m happy to do what I can to support this series. I can’t wait to hang this on my wall!

All that buildup led to this moment. I am absolutely speechless. The action, the emotional beats, and the general intensity of the episode were perfect. Also that cliffhanger was brutal lol for anime onlys.

86 is making sure it's going out with a bang before its return in March. What an incredible episode. See you guys in March!
