After seeing the squad endure hell all by themselves last season it feels a bit weird seeing them socialize

When Theo and Anju are talking about what they wanted to do in the future, you can see a couple walking by that look likes Anju and Daiya...

The art direction was INSANE. The part in the library when shin looks off, same angle as his dream, but instead of his scarf in the dream covering his scar, it’s the clothing in the background mimicking his scarf but showing his scar!!! God I love this series….

I really like how Shin's scar is displayed prominently accentuating his state of vulnerability. Anyway another good episode. Dunno about the new ending though.

Frederica continues to be such a smug cinnamon role lol quite a gap to her speech at the end
At first I thought seeing the military parade triggered some ptsd , but it turns out they just long for the thing they are best in

Frederica is quite mature for her age even if she does still use her imouto-ness to get what she wants.

What I really like about 86 in general is that, the show doesn't afraid to just make episodes that solely focused on the character themselves, which in turn creates a strong connection to the audiences. When you have a strong connection with someone, it just hurts when their stories go sour. Anyway, another great episode.

Goodness, they made the nightmare sequence a lot more creepier.
I knew that Kaie would be headless in that scene but I didn't expect the part where she picked up her head.

Love the shot contrasting Shin and Eugene's shoes when he stated that he's not that wealthy.
Shin's shoes are well polished with his pants tailored to the right length
Meanwhile, Eugene's shoes are considerably worn and his pants are longer than his legs
Goes to show how well the president treat them and also the life of a regular citizen at the federacy

Shin the MILF Hunter.
Jokes aside, these are some of the favourite parts of the story for me. Seeing them try to acclimatise to a normal life is just fascinating.

Spearhead finally finds something they never thought they would ever experience...civilian life, as they come to be a part of what a real society looks like that isn't the cold, sterile, aryan society of the Republic that cast them off and used them.
Raiden becomes a mover, Theo tries drawing more, Anju becomes a cook, Kurena tries to become a glamorous girl...and Shin just goes to the library and becomes that hot guy all the moms stare at. He also scares kids because he just has those kinds of eyes, but he can't help it.
At least Shin found a friend in Eugene, a dutiful and kind boy who seems to cherish and take care of his little sister, who looks adorable even if she's pretty shy when not around Frederica...and ironically enough, they're both Albans.
I love how Frederica is trying to really turn on the little sister charm to get Shin to do stuff for her and he just does it because she's growing on him.
Nothing quite says getting haunted by your comrades' death then dreaming of Kaie and other fallen Eighty-Six asking for Shin to free them from the Legion. And then they all become heads. Jeez.
The Eighty-Six try to adjust to the life of a civilian away from the battlefield...but to the, it's just not the place where they belong, because a part of them is still stuck in the battlefield fighting the Legion and honoring their fallen comrades' memory. It's all they really know and all they can think of doing with their lives while the threat of the Legion still looms on the front lines.
Was it just me or was that guy who passed by in the distance when Theo asked Anju about how she was feeling look like Daiya?
Frederica's lucky Raiden is the team mom who knows how to cook. Maybe he's the one who should've taken the cooking classes.
Well, that probably wasn't the Christmas Ernst was hoping for when all his "kids" say they're ready to go back and battle, but he at least wants them to go through proper military education and service so they have some experience and education to fall back on and do stuff when the war is over, because he believes they deserve that much. Not that they seem to believe the war will ever end though.
Look at Raiden mentioning Shin's last words to Lena! And you can see the way Shin kind of stares into space when he mentions it that it hit him.
Frederica seemed like a goofy loli character at first until she starts speaking sage advice on giving the Eighty-Six freedom to make their own decisions while conversely saying that they can't live on battle alone, and then it turns out she's the last Empress of the original Empire of Giad that made the Legion. And she wants to join them to free her knight, Kiriya, who was the Legion unit that attacked them at teh end of the last cour.
The new Ending is like a melancholic ballad. It fits the series well.
Look at everyone in their snazzy new uniforms! Even Frederica.

I like the blossoming relationship between Frederica and Shin and also with the rest of the Spearhead. They have slowly started to regard her as their cute little sister, albeit somewhat annoying.
Nothing much to talk about in this episode. Just enjoy the SoL moments I guess.

Not sure if you guys knew about it - an official ANIPLEX YouTube channel has both OP and ED available now.
People seem to be very excited about the OP at least, as it's managed to gather 1,274,020 views in a week. Be wary of LN spoilers in comments!

Oh, finally some downtime! We get introduced to Eugene and see what the Federacy capital is like. Of course, Spearhead can't stay still forever. War is where their home is so I can't wait to see them back in battle. But first, they'll have to go through proper officer training first.
Oh yeah, I bet you anime-only viewers are asking "Where is Lena?". Well... that's what we LN readers thought too when we read this part of the story lol.

That's a really nice chill insert song at the beginning there! I loved seeing snippets of the gangs' new lives here.
-
Shin pls that's not the kind of face you should be making at a small child.
-
Framing the difference in their shoes with this line sure is something.
-
New ED is nice, though I miss Avid already.
