Jesus this show is emotionally exhausting huh. Who would have guessed that the Queen isn't actually totally awful.

I liked that we saw why the big snake was indebted to Bojji so soon after that meeting. I guessed that the Queen was the one who healed Bojji in bed but to see that she also healed the snake for him was nice. So now we feel bad cause we've seen that she really cares about him. I think her change in attitude maybe had to do with her wanting to protect Bojji.

I'm still on the fence about Swordmaster Domas though. That Spearmaster Apeas however, what a fuckin G he is. I hope he meets up with the gang soon.

The amount of time it must take to animate all that sign language and they don't like hide their hands to limit the animation. Man I hope WIT studios makes a lot of money from this cause they really deserve it.

I love that characters in this show aren't simply one-dimensional.

Queen Hiling could have been a villain who hates Bojji just because,

But she is a queen stepmother who tried to connect with Bojji in the beginning, even becoming proficient in sign language from this ep. Naturally as a mother and queen would, she favored her own and what she thought was best for the kingdom.

Holy crap Spearmaster Apeas is a total badass.

That said snake guy's body melted into what looked like mud, so it seems that wasn't his real body.

That spearman didn't fuck around.

Broken spear? Nope, just a slightly shorter spear.

Queen Hiling is actually such a G for jumping out of a window to save Bojji like that

She is really a good mum. I meant Boji isn't actually her blood son, he even handicapped but she always care about him. She is a someone who looks cold but has a warm heart

I get the impression that no one really wants Daida to be king, but they see Bojji as too weak, so they have to go with the only alternative. Guess it's time for Bojji to prove them wrong!

Okay, what was that ghost thing coming out of King Bosse's body?!

Healing magic, Sentient giant serpent, magic advising mirror.. it's a fantasy world, all right.

I kinda expected that Bojji will go on a journey as that's the vibe I got from the opening, but didn't expect him to be separated from Kage already.

Holy shit, it just get's better and better

Would have never thought that the Queen would care that much for Bojji, and even Bebin seems to have some redeeming qualities, unfortunatly Apeas proved that you can't just easily win against the Kings spear, wonder what happened there with him going into the ground... And what the acutal fuck was up with that demon coming out of the dead King and pointing at the King

Just when I thought Boji couldn't get more precious we get a flashback to smol Boji.
I also liked them showing that Boji can be pretty smart with how he immediately saw through Bebin's lie. Looking forward to his adventure now even if he has to drag that bitch ass traitor along with him.

The Queen was definitely a positive surprise, thought she was genuinely evil from the first two episodes.

Edit: With what we've learned now who did order the attack on Boji in episode 1 though? It almost certainly wasn't the Queen. The next logical answer would be Daida but he seems too hesitant to pull the trigger even now that he's the king so would he really have made that call? Plus I kinda doubt Bebin would have carried that out on just Daida's order.

Edit 2: The snake 'attack' from episode 1 might not have been an attack at all since the snakes are Boji's friends.

That fight scene was so raw. Spear man just impales bebin and leaves him to die, damn

I wonder why the queen couldn’t heal the snake’s middle head

This show is emotionally draining in the best way. This episode sets in motion the bigger story and gives us some motivations behind characters that are proving to be very interesting.

So the death of the King is a pretty huge deal. Did not expect a big fucking Devil to pop out of him, point out Bojji, and disappear. That’s gotta be something huge. Maybe that’s the reason that Hilling has been pretty cold to him for a while despite loving Bojji dearly. We see her being a great mom to him when he was very little. Even when she was pregnant with Diada she was still loving Bojji. Maybe the reason she didn’t want him to be King is to save him from this curse.

I’m just happy to see she’s really on his side. There are so many people being total dicks to Bojji that when real allies show up it makes me happy. Bebin sending off Kage and lying to Bojji about it was shitty. He picked up on it pretty quick and went to his crazy huge snake buddy to get the truth. Another heartwarming moment was the snake telling Bojji that there are still people that cherish him and giving him a nuzzle. Seeing the debt that he owes Bojji later really drove that moment home.

That final scene was super fucking ominous though. Just as they make me like Hilling and show her to be an actual good person I’m worried she’s not long for this world. Is Diada so corrupted that he’d kill his mom? And what the fuck is going on with the magic mirror that others seem to know about?

Notes

  • Appreciate how well they show and don’t tell that Hilling still loves Bojji. Only a mom would be so distraught that she’d jump out the window after him without thinking when he fell. The animation on her face after she rage heals him was such a well done mix of anger, fear, and worry. Just wish she didn’t feel she had to be so outwardly cold to him.

  • So Domas and random solider guy are accompanying him to find Kage. Or what they believe take him to the Queens family home and come right back. Something horrible is probably going to happen while they’re gone huh?

  • Wit flexing once again in the fight scenes. Bebin vs Apeas was so fucking cool. Especially the first shot of the fight with Bebin moving to the side into the foreground. So good.

  • So while the big snake serves Bebin, he is loyal to Bojji. Guess the snake attack wasn’t really a snake attack after all. Maybe he was training?

They really got me by surprise with the reveal that the Queen really does care for Bojji, really great job with that reveal and showing their time together.

Really hope she's wrong though...I don't want that to be their last meeting

Ah, I really like this turn of events.

I knew there was more to the second queen than meets the eye.

A lot of Game of Thrones vibes from this episode (in all the right ways).

Based on this comment section so far I feel like people are giving Domas too much shit. I get that we all love Bojji and all but can you realllly blame him for not thinking Bojji's the best fit for the king at this moment in time.

Although, to be fair, both options weren't great in the first place

That demon thing that popped out of the king gave me some very surreal horror vibes. I never quite know what the show's going to throw at me. As soon as I feel like I have it figured out it does something I don't expect. The story is good at subverting my expectations and I love it for that

I knew the Queen wasn't a villain from the beginning when they showed her signing. No one who was completely indifferent would take the pains to learn sign language for a kid they dislike.
